Being in a relationship at a very young age for some people is perhaps unserious and often times they would describe it as "puppy love". I used to be really curious about the feeling that somebody would feel in terms of having a boyfriend. My name is Alyn. When I was 14, I met this guy in scouting movement named Donny. He was good looking but known to be a "bad boy". I would admit that I couldn't feel any sort of butterflies in my stomach everytime I would see him but he had a crush on me. There was this so called "Nationwide Jamboree" that was conducted and I was too excited about it. At the time, I was a pathfinder scout. Well, in scouting the lowest rank you will acquire is explorer and when you will have your interview, you will move to pathfinder then after that, outdoorsman rank then venturer of course, and lastly, the highest rank in scouting is the Eagle Scout rank. We were all preparing our things to be brought back then and when we arrived to our destination already, I saw lots of bamboos being used to build our respective camps. Everything was unfinished the moment we took a glimpse in every area of the whole place. As scouts, we have this our strong motto and slogan saying that , " Be prepared" and " Do a good turn daily" and you can expect what we firstly did. We immediately accumulated our energy and stamina to make things through and help other scouts with the best that we can be. The moment when everything was done, my friends named, "Mariane", "Reymark, and " Roge" and I, went out for our official registration in the said activity and to buy some snacks as well. We are always hungry and we never reject foods. Haha. We were having a nice time talking about what is going to happen in the midst of the scouting movement. I could still remember that I was wearing my blue jeans at a time and loose white shirt on the first day. While we were walking alongside our fellow scouters, there were two guys directly looking at me. I saw it with my two eyes really for they were so close toward my distance. By the way, I have an eye disability. I can not clearly see things from afar and I also have a weak heart. It is a "double-wound" should I say but that is how I came into the world. These two scouters were trying to say something that I have really no idea about until, one of them finally said, loudly" I like that girl wearing blue jeans with a loose white shirt on top. You're so pretty! ". I doubtlessly stared at him and I didn't know how to react but I smiled awkwardly. I smiled because it is an amazing feeling to know that someone has a great admiration on you. I don't know. It is inexplicable but I know that you know what I mean. Hours later, it was dinner time, I saw the guy who confessed on me having small talks with my friends. I didn't even care at all but I was thinking that my friends happened to be extremely approachable and friendly and there is no denying that being friendly with other scouts is definitely one of the scout laws. To my surprise, the guy was taking steps to get nearer to the certain point where I was sitting and I was having my rice and adobo on my plate at a time and then, " Hi, I am Donny, venturer scout. It is so wonderful to see you several times". I got flabbergasted when he said " several times" so I responded by telling him," Huh? several times seriously?"
He then said, " Yeah, I saw you in Crew Leaders Training Course, First -Aid Activity, National Venture Camp and hmmmm let me think, how many scouting activities you had already joined haha". I was not comfortable about everything he said for I felt like he was following me from the very beginning up to this point of my life. So, I told him that," I am here to obtain higher rank in scouting and I am also here to gain experiences and make friends and not to find someone to get along well with him" and then I smiled widely at him. I had no idea if I did something right or wrong but I was just being real with myself and I am just really afraid to fall in love. I am scared of having terrible pain and aches. I am not ready to cry so bad for someone and it is all because I have a weak heart and I feel like it is going to be a burden for someone to be with a girl who has an eye disability and a heart that is not well-functioning. I thought that Donny would stop doing things that were obviously showcasing his weird feelings toward me but I was wrong. He continued with a different approach that I never had expected he would actually do. At that certain part of the activity (Day 1), one of the woodbadge holders named, " Sir Nathan" was holding the microphone to voice out a big announcement. Everybody was excited for the thing he was about to say but then, Sir Nathan said," Before anything else, I would allow venturer scout Donny Smyth to take this microphone over since today is his birthday. So, Donny, come here on stage". I could not see him coming up on stage because I was too far and I was not wearing my eye glasses at the moment. A lot of scouters were clapping their hands for the birthday celebrant. And then, we were told to sing happy birthday song for him and due to the fact that scouts are obedient, we did what will make him happier. Afterwards, I could clearly hear his voice and at first, he was trying to clear his throat for a better delivery of words. " First of all, thank you so much, my fellow scouts for singing and of course, thank you Sir Nathan for allowing me to hold this microphone for a short period of time. I am really delighted because today is my birthday and I would consider the worth honoring experiences I would gain after this Jamboree as gifts for myself but guys, I am way more thankful because in my all years of living, I used to feel like I am all alone but I was mistaken for I have you and you are not just my friends, you are family to me. But at last, let me have this great confession. Maybe this is the best opportunity to make her feel that I am serious to her and that I am ready for commitment." When he said that, everyone out there except me was making a vehement noise. Until he uttered the last part of his speech, " I know you are here and I know that you know about the person I am referring and it is you. The girl who was eating an adobo with rice a while ago and the girl who was wearing that fitted blue jeans and loose white shirt. I want you to know, that it is my first time to realize that I am willing to be a good guy for you. I am known as a bad boy but I can change that for you. I am willing to quit from playing video games, make fun with anybody else and I will be the best person for you. I am willing to change the whole me for the better just to make you feel that I am not joking" right after this, Donny cried. He was being too emotional and I did not bother anybody to ask for the reason but Emelyn, my fellow scout, told me that, " You know what, Donny is a great man I feel. Imagine, living life with no parents huh." I replied Emelyn by saying, "What do you mean?" . " Alyn! You are not aware that Donny's parents came to eternal rest when he was just 1 year old. His mom had a cancer while his dad had heart attack back then". I had really wanted to see Donny's eyes when we came down on that exact stage. I was quite concerned on him. That time, I felt so guilty for what I said to him. I did not mean to add weight on the heavy feeling he was dealing with. But I was thoroughly thinking that, if I could see him again, I would actually say something that would uplift his soul as a peace offering. I just can't really afford seeing people , feeling sad or down or the same feeling I have within myself. Then, life allowed me to do it.
