"Help me! Please help!" A woman screamed in pain, covered in blood. "I saw someone! Get some help." a man yelled back.
A group of men came rushing towards the woman and helped her to get out from under the piece of the plane that fell on top of her. Roxanne tried to move but she couldn't and noticed she was badly injured and her head was bleeding. She tried to call for help but couldn't bring herself to open her mouth. An explosion was heard clearly enough to make her shudder in pain. People around her are mostly injured and dead. She looked to her left and saw a little girl, laying on the ground with her teddy bear in hand, crying for help.
"Mommy, I want my mommy." the little girl cried in agony before screaming because something had fallen on her leg.
She was sobbing silently, almost like a whisper. Roxanne tried her best to move and help the little girl, but soon the little girl didn't even move. She was silently praying and hoping to be alive. She doesn't want to die yet. Tears started to fall from her eyes as her vision became blurry.
"Ma'am, are you alright?" She heard a man speak to her with her blurry vision, she couldn't see the person very well, but she was thankful that she was being saved. She tried to speak but no words came out. She could only nod to the man talking to her.
"I need you to stay awake and don't fall asleep." The man warned her before helping her. She couldn't promise as her visions started to become more blurry and her head hurt. She thought she was going to die, but a familiar voice inside her head kept her conscious.
"Promise me you will be back?"
It's making her want to cry.
"Ma'am, tell me your name." the man asked as he tried his best to make Roxanne stay awake. She couldn't bring herself to speak. She soon began to slowly drift into a deep sleep.
She heard voices. They were telling her to stay awake. She couldn't.
"Please wake up."
"Maddy please..."
Slowly, Roxanne opened her eyes and saw the person crying in front of her. She was confused. "Maddy!" The woman cried and attacked her with hugs. She couldn't stop crying. "I thought we'd lost you. I'm so sorry dear that this happened to you." The woman spoke again.
Roxanne stared at them confused. She doesn't know what happened to her. She doesn't know who the person is hugging her. She was confused.
"Who are you? Why am I here?" Roxanne said, which shocked them. The woman starts to cry again, and soon the doctor comes and tells her everything. "I'm sorry to say this, sir, but your daughter was badly injured in her head and that caused her to lose her memories. To be exact, she suffered amnesia." The doctor spoke, and Roxane was shocked.
"Is there anything that we can do to bring her memories back?" The man spoke with sadness in his eyes. "Some people suffer from amnesia and never get back their memories." the doctor spoke sadly. "You were saying that our daughter would never remember us?" The man raised his voice, and the doctor calmed him down. "I'm not sure, Mr. Palmer, but considering her condition... it will be hard for her to remember her past." The doctor said it again and sighed.
"It's okay, sweetheart. Everything will be fine." The woman whispered to Roxanne before hugging her tight.
When the doctor and her parents left, she was left alone in the hospital room thinking. She can't remember anything. She doesn't know who she is or what her name is. She knew now that she had parents, although she didn't know why she didn't feel anything towards them. In two months, Roxanne will finally be able to leave the hospital. She was happy to know that she had a family. She also knew about the fact that she was adopted but still cared for by both of her parents. She was thankful for that.
She was about to leave the hospital when she bumped into someone.
"Ohmy, I am so sorry, Miss." the man apologised to her. When they locked gazes, she got butterflies in her stomach. She can't stop herself from admiring him. He looks attractive. "It's okay. It's my fault though." Roxanne said, and he chuckled. "My name is Evan. Evan McCarthy." He smiled and took out his hand for Roxanne to shake.
"Roxanne Madeline Palmer." she said, and they both smiled at each other.
"Rory." he said, and chuckled.
Roxanne doesn't understand what he means, but she has feelings that she likes him. She was saddened that she couldn't remember her past, but she didn't mind because she was content with her future.
And it's all that matters now.
"The past is already over. You don't need to remember them as I am your future. Let's focus in what's here and now." Evan whispered to her as he kissed her on her forehead on their wedding day. It has been three years since they last knew each other, and they ended up marrying each other.
Roxanne believed that he was the love of her life. Not knowing that someone in her past is still waiting for her to come back.
And he never stopped believing that he'd meet her again.
