CHAPTER 7
I was awoken by the delicious smell. It makes my stomach grumble. I opened my eyes and saw Rina, preparing my food.
“Good Morning, Rina”
“Oh! You’re awake milady. Come, the chef have prepared something you’ll like and it’s nutritious too”
I weakly smiled at her. In the past, I’m not a morning person but, because of my work, I had to be accustomed to be awake early in the morning. I yawned and stretch my arms to feel refresh. I got up with a bed hair and seated at the sofa. I looked at the food that has been prepared for me. I don’t know what’s this meal called, all I see is a mushroom soup.
“What’s the name of this?”
“Oh! A mushroom soup and a chicken tenders and that sauce cups is hot mustard, ketchup and sweet and sour. The chef didn’t know what sauce that suits your taste so he made it all three”
“Have you eaten yet?”
“Yes, I have milady. There’s a sudden changes in our schedules that we need to eat first before beginning our day in work”
“Who made that?”
“Oh! It’s Miss Scarlet, she’s really dependable. We have our meeting each day of the month and she requested that, she’s worried that we may don’t have energy to keep up”
She gesture her hands as if she’s teaching. She excused herself and I eat peacefully. It’s really lonely not having someone to eat with you.
After I’m done eating, Rina and Amelia assisted me in the bath as well as my clothes. I’m shocked to see that they beautify myself. Rina was very excited to show her skills. She puts light make up on my face and styled my hair into fishtail spiral bun since my hair is long.
If I were to describe what I wear, it is a fern colored wrap dress to cover my one month old tummy. It’s not visible since, my bump is so small that anyone can’t guess that I’m pregnant. I’m still sexy if I were to describe myself.
“Why I am dressed up?”
“Oh right! The Duchess told us that you’ll be going out today”
“Now?”
“Yes”
“I thought it would be in the afternoon”
“No, you need to go home before sunset, milady” that’s Scarlet voice.
I looked back to see where she is, and she’s wearing a casual clothes.
“You’re going with me?”
“Yes” she looks at the two maids who standing at the corner. “One of you should go with us”
Rina raised her hand to go with us while Amelia just put down her hand immediately and looked in the side. I saw it but I pretend I didn’t. I let Scarlet decide who will be going and she chose Rina. Next time, I’ll bring Amelia to roam around the town.
Afterwards, we were in front of the carriage. It’s look fascinating as it has silver colors and you’ll see the four brown horses has well taken care of.
I entered the carriage and it’s more wonderful inside, the sit is soft that makes it comfortable. I knot the curtain on the side in order for me to see outside. Whenever, I travel it’s my habit that my face is always looking outside or my position is always next to the window.
I’m faraway to the manor. All I see is a forests. But this time, I’m astonished seeing this amazing view. I saw the see, the ships, the buildings, the tower who had a giant clock. There are different forms of establishments. I didn’t know a wonderful place like this exist.
They dropped us in front of the church where I saw the giant clock. I guess this is the starting point of our destination.
There’s a bunch of restaurants, shopping centers in here. So, I let the two girls handle it for me. All of the establishments had an intricate design that take me back in the Victorian Era or in Europe.
We walked down almost everywhere. We stopped to watched a play to rest ourselves. I saw the theatre, it’s a big theatre. There’s a two different classes that we need to avail, it’s a noble or for commoners. Of course, for a noble, we took three tickets. The receptionist guide us to the second floor because she didn’t expect that I will go there. Luckily, we are earlier before the play starts because, it’s a new story that they released and all the nobles reserved their seats.
“Please come this way”
As she opened the door, I saw the grand theatre, it has a large platform with the lights on. They cleaned their props as people were coming from one to another. I looked below, there are tons of sits there and up above. It’s an Italian style. It’s really a jaw dropping. This place can’t stop making me surprised.
I watched the play were actors and actresses made its way to the people’s hearts and captures their attention. They have a very good acting skills. I have the guide here that it’s a tragic story. But, I have a feeling that my day is only the beginning. My heart just can’t settle when I saw the female protagonist with Fox on the side a above the floor where I’m facing at. He seems resting his face on his palms as if he was bored, I’ve seen that face a couple of times. He was staring at my direction. I don’t know if he can see me. Nah! He can’t see me, in front of me is the play so he probably stared at it.
The shocking is, I saw my cousin or should I say my stepsister not in blood beside the female lead. I remember the features correctly about the female lead. A yellow straight hair with a deep blue eyes. She’s the female lead, how can I forget?
“Are you okay, milady?”
Scarlet asked me in a worry tone. I hold her hand tightly and smiled at her. Why? Why is my step sister and the female lead together? Are they best friends?
“milady”
I gestured Scarlet to shush down, I know she noticed where I’m looking at by tracing the direction.
“It’s better if we enjoy ourselves rather than worrying, right?”
She nodded and continued to watched the play. I too sighed and watched but, my mind is elsewhere so I can’t concentrate.
Scarlet know the truth. Chantria tasked her to investigate my cousin and her mother, the baroness in Lynch secretly. I overheard them talking in one of the rooms in the manor. My mother is so busy that she lets Walker to entertained the guest especially them since they were the supposed to be his relatives. They were a commoner not so long ago, but my mother choose to bestowed them a title which is a Baron and give up one of the lands of our family. I know she was blinded in love. I too, experience that in the past. To believe the truth I need evidences and that’s where she found out that the Baroness is the wife of Walter, my mother’s lover in secret.
I wonder why did mother believe his lies. Before, I leave I should tell her a hint. I don’t want Chantria’s mother to live in despair. She takes good care of me. She doesn’t know that I’m a stranger to another world but, I want to repay her gratitude.
I’m creating a plan inside my head when, someone tap my shoulder. I looked who is it, it was Rina.
“Milady, the show is over. We must go”
“Oh! I’m sorry, I’m spacing out again. Let’s go”
Before, I stood up. I glanced over them and saw them like they were arguing. I furrowed my forehead. My god! Now, I’m curious.
I walked away to the theater. I pretend I didn’t see anything. We stroll around in the shopping centers. There were no prices, we should asked the owner first about their prices and If I were to calculate things? It costs my monthly expenses in the past just for a dress and jewelries.
Scarlet told me that all of my dresses and jewelry was made personally by the famous designers so it costs a little too much than in the store. Then, I’m a walking diamond? I can’t believe what my ears had been heard. I can’t process it in my mind immediately.
In the past, we are not rich but we can afford our living expenses. We have our own land in the province that my relatives would die fighting for. So, I’m not used to wearing such expensive things. My mother told us to be a thrift person so that’s when it comes to an emergency we have money in our pockets because of our savings.
“Do you have anything you like, milady?”
“Uhm! No, I think so?”
I blurted a question. I don’t know whether I should buy something or not. I’m not used to this kind of lifestyles where purchasing is not a worry. I know money is not unlimited so, I will not buy things that I don’t need.
“A remembrance, perhaps?”
“Uhm.. No.. I think, I’m good”
I walked away to that boutique. No more expensive things. I think my eye would be aching if there’s some more expensive things I’ll see.
“We should go to a café”
I told them and they nodded. They told me the names of the café’s with some recommendations of their best menus. I told them to picked up themselves since, I don’t know where is that. They just simply nodded and guide their way.
For quite sometime now, I don’t like how Rina is clingy or obsequious she is. I’m trying my best not to get irritated, it’s as if I saw how plastic she is or it’s just because I’m judgemental.
I keep quiet on our stroll and that’s because I’m trying to keep my composure. I count one to ten to not lose my temper. My teacher taught us that technique to remain calm and now, it became my habit. Scarlet noticed that so she, guide us to the café that’s is simple. I’m impressed she knows what’s suit to my tastes, it’s a simple café and it has a peaceful ambiance as well as the classical music in the background. This is good for me.
The waiter asked if we wanted to chill outside or inside. It’s a little bit hot outside so I decided to go inside. We were escorted by the waiter of where we should sit. It’s located to the back near the window. I immediately sit next to the window because that’s my favorite spot.
“What would you like to order, milady?”
“How about you guys?”
“N..no, we can’t burden you to do that, milady” rina spoked.
I wondered why Scarlet don’t talk much. She only told me what’s the place names, a description and their brief history if there’s any.
“It’s on me”
“No, milady. We are really okay"
“Then, I’ll be the one who will order. Are you okay with anything?”
They didn't response so, i made the order.
“I’ll get a two cappuccino, one latte, one chocolate cake. Uhm….” I glanced at the two of them. Scarlet seems not to care about this things but, what happened to her? I think, she’s not in the mood or something happened that she didn’t like? While Rina is acting fidgety.
“What would you like for the side dish? Sandwich? Cookies? Pasta? Cupcakes or cakes?”
“A..anything, milady”
“Well then, I’ll have two chicken sandwich and a chocolate chip”
“Two cappuccino, one latte, one chocolate cake, two chicken sandwich and a chocolate chip. Is that right?”
“Yes”
“I’ll be served in a couple of minutes, milady. Enjoy your stay”
I watched the passerby outside. There are tons of nobles walking with their servants. Some of their servants are in uniform holding the umbrella. Those are gorgeous dresses, a walking diamonds indeed. Some of the men are in tuxedo or just in a suit. It’s like they are going to a business meeting or formal interview since, that’s what the men wear in my past. But, it’s their everyday clothes. Just how rich are they?
“Thanks for waiting”
The waiter served our foods and we eat them silently. For me, it’s a great way to relax. The atmosphere is peaceful. I closed my eyes to feel this moment.
As I opened it, my instinct tells me to watched outside and so I did. My hands trembled, my heart starts beating to fast in panic.
The female lead is outside, a five meters away from the door together with my cousin err… my stepsister that’s not in blood.
