CHAPTER 10
I opened my eyes immediately as I’m having a nightmare. Sweat were visible to my forehead and hands. It’s been a long time since, I’ve dreamed my past life.
I didn’t think that it would occur since, I’m enjoying my life right now.
I want to focused more on the present rather than remembering my past. I need to get a grip cause I’ll be a mother soon.
I stood up in front of the window when I saw Rina hurriedly walked to the garden. I furrowed my forehead, remembering that I saw her sneaking outside but what’s most pique my interest is, scarlet was following her.
I got up and decided to follow them. Scarlet really do her job. I run towards the direction to where they are. I need to hurry before I lose their tracks.
What’s shocking is, they know a secret passageway. The moon was so bright that I saw before my eyes how she lift up a shrub that’s blocking the small hole in the wall where people can go through when you crawl.
After they crawl one after another, I crawl next. Scarlet saw me going outside, she was shocked that I immediately shush her down.
I hide to the tree near Scarlet. Im waiting for the perfect timing to peek who she’s going to meet.
“What took you so long, dear?”
I only heard what she’s talking about. So, it’s all about her going out to meet a lover?
“I’ve waited them to be asleep”
“Oh? That tickles me so much”
I peek at them. I was shocked who was that man is, its no other than Walker. What the? A womanizer indeed.
They hugged each other. Walker slide his hands to her skirt. My god? Why I am watching this?
I started to walked away but, scarlet stayed. I gesture her to go with me but she just said no to me. I think she will investigate her further. I grabbed her arms. There’s no need to investigate cause I’ve seen it before my eyes.
As soon as we get back to my room. I told Scarlet to tell me her investigations. It’s only two days and I found out she’s not trustworthy.
All my hunch of her being plastic is correct. I should be thankful for my instincts telling me what’s wrong.
“Milady”
“So? What have you found out to her?”
“Let me tell you first about Amelia”
“Go ahead”
“I don’t have any information regarding to her. When, I go to her hometown they never said a word about her. They all know her but as the daughter of Fords. She’s an orphan at the age of 7, her mother died because of poverty”
“Well, you didn’t have anything to dig deeper because she’s clean?”
“Yes. All of her information were limited to the point it’s hard digging her up. That’s all I obtained about her”
“I guessed the other lady is a traitor”
“Yes, she’s the best friend of Elora Luwel, daughter of Walker. As we can see earlier, they have an intimate relationship with Walker”
“Why are you staying further there when you know about it?”
“I need to know more about them, milady. After their adultery session, the two of them will talked about their plans”
“You’re not disgusted about that?”
“I had to endure, milady”
I nodded at her. I’m speechless. She will do everything just to fulfill her duties. She’s a treasure not to be wasted.
“Do you know anything?”
“Yes, I found out that Walker didn’t stayed at the Baroness house instead, she stayed at Rina’s. Whenever, there’s a day off. The two of them are together. After what happened earlier, I think Walker went home”
“What else?"
“All the reports or gossips about you, milady. She reports it to him and she’s stealing some important documents on the Duchess office. Luckily, the duchess will noticed it immediately and fixed it before anything happens”
“Do you know what’s the reason that binds my mother and walker? I think, my mother is hiding something”
“I don’t know that, milady. Actually, you request that to me a long time ago when you have your memories but, I don’t have any findings. I apologized for that, milady”
“No, it’s okay. You’ve done enough”
I smiled and dismissed her. I sleep peacefully knowing who's a traitor in my attendants.

The moment I woken up it’s already ten in the morning which means, I’m resting very well. I immediately called my two attendants after eating my breakfast.
“Milady, what is it?” Rina excitedly asked me.
I know she’s faking it. I gave her a piercing stare. She awkwardly stood straight up. I noticed she’s trembling and gulping. Am I really that scary?
“Tomorrow, is the day that I’ll leave. I choose my companion until then. It’s you Amelia, so I wanted you to packed your things”
“B.but, milady. I thought it should be me?”
“No, I think Amelia is suitable to go with me. I want someone trustworthy enough to accompany me. And oh? I want you to sleep here tonight Amelia and Scarlet”
“Yes, milady”
“Yes, milady”
“The three of you are dismissed”
Amelia goes to her room to packed her things. She noticed that she’s been followed.
“Why are you following me? As far as I know, we don’t share a room”
“What did you do to snatched my position?”
“I didn’t do anything”
“Did you lick her shoes? Or tell her something bad about me behind my back?”
“No, I didn’t do such thing”
“You take it away! Go back and tell her you don’t want to go”
“And what? Tell milady, you will accompany her, in my stead?”
“You’re pretty smart for a mere servant”
“No, I refused”
“And, why is that? Are you opposing me?”
“Absolutely”
Amelia can’t take it anymore. She’s very annoyed right now. She want to escape that place where that woman was standing. She never liked her from the start, she was acting as if she’s given a high authority when in fact, she’s just a mere servants just like us.
After she’s done packing. She passed by at Rina. She was at the front of her door, when Rina grabbed her arms and dragged her back inside the room.
“I’m running out of patience, go and tell her that you won’t go”
“No”
She raised her hands, motioning to slapped Amelia. She didn’t know that Amelia had a very good reflexes but luckily, she didn’t moved because Scarlet has arrived on time. She was glad that she didn’t lay a finger to Rina as she was avoiding a conflict.
“Amelia, are you done there? The Lady is waiting”
Scarlet was just in time. She was holding a bag full of her clothes. Rina gazed at them with jealousy because they have to go somewhere that she had never been to and she had one goal to fulfill, that is to spy the lady. She’s biting her nails thinking what she would do.
I was busy unpacking the box when, my two lovely attendant approached me.
“Please locked the door, I don’t want anyone to disturb us”
“Yes, milady”
“Yes, milady”
Scarlet put their things besides the door and she helped me, getting my dresses out of the box.
“I told my mother not to buy expensive ones. Is this okay? Or should I borrow to you?”
“No, milady. That’s okay”
“How was she?”
“Uhmm.. she’s mad and Amelia confronted her”
I looked at Rina, she was standing besides their luggage. She’s fidgeting. I told her to sit beside us and helped.
“I’m correct right? That after you’ve done, you should visit her”
“Yes milady, I didn’t expect Rina would do something childish like that”
“Uhmm, what are you talking about?”
“The lady wants me to check up on you because she’s afraid Rina might do something to you”
“I have a hunch that she might do something terrible because I saw how her eyes sparked with expectations but only to be dismayed”
“B..but, milady. You already know that then why choose me?”
“I want somebody who I can rely on”
“Then, does that mean?”
“Yeah, I see you as trustworthy”
Amelia just smiled at me. I should say goodbye to the duchess.
“Scarlet? Can you do this for me? I need to go to the duchess”
I left the room while they were folding my clothes.
I stood up in front of the office room of my mother. I haven’t talk to her yet. As soon as I walked in, she was drowned by the documents. She had an eye bags, she must don’t have enough sleep.
“Mother?”
“Yes?”
There are tons of pile of documents blocking her view so she stood up to see me.
“Are you busy? Can you spare a little time for me?”
“No, not at all and definitely yes”
I laughed at her. I know she’s busy but she choose to entertain me. I was seated across to her. The head maid and Sir Oliver was asleep. They laid down each others sleeping bags. Sir Oliver was located besides the bookshelves while the head maid beside the door. I didn’t noticed her there.
“They must be tired”
“Yeah, we want to finished our businesses as soon as possible so that, when you come back here. I have the time to spoil you and my grandchild”
I’m overwhelm by her thoughts. It’s still too far but she’s doing it right now to the both of us. If only my mother in the past is alive, she would do this also.
Come to think of it, there are traits that my mother and the duchess were similar especially their workaholic and caring attitude. Despite all of that, they put us first.
“Thank you, mother”
“No, it’s still not enough. If you are to remember your past, you will hate me. I know I’m selfish mother. I didn’t put you first. I’m sorry for my shortcomings. I’ve been a bad mother to all of you and now, that I have a chance to repent. I will do everything in my power just to keep you safe and happy. No, both of you”
