Chapter Forty-Two: Are We Standing On The Same Ground?

THREE HOURS LATER.
Emilia is drumming her fingers unto the table, while getting a bit impatient. She keeps on looking at the coffee shop's entrance door, hoping to see Brent. She's been waiting for him for almost one-and-a-half hour.
"Well, it's better late than never..." she encouraged herself.
Emilia sent a text message to Brent, asking him to meet up and have a talk at the coffee shop after their classes. But it seems like Brent is ignoring her.
She decided to roam her eyes around, and she saw few couples being lovey-dovey while enjoying their own cups of coffee...
She wistfully sighed. They all look so happy and in love.
"Stop looking at them! And stop eating your heart out!" she angrily said to herself, while shaking her head, as if she's shaking all of those thoughts.
Come to think of it, she shouldn't be feeling this way because she and Brent aren't officially a couple. They are hanging out together and having constant communication over the phone, but she can't call him as his boyfriend.
But the question is, what does she really feel about Brent. Sure, she is attracted to him, but she's not exactly sure if she is in love with him...
"Everything alright?" one familiar voice suddenly made Emilia stop her train of thoughts.
It was Marsha, the kind and friendly staff at this coffee shop.
"Huh? Oh! I'm feeling great! I was just thinking about something." answered Emilia, while trying her best to be perky.
"Alright. Just call me if you need someone to talk to, okay?" relayed Marsha.
"Well, looks like I need to wait here longer, can I have my usual order?" Emilia smilingly requested.
"Caramel Macchiato, right? Coming right up!" Marsha nodded in return. Afterwards, she went back to the counter to prepare Emilia's order.
Emilia then glances at her wristwatch, and her eyes widened in surprised when she realized that she had been waiting for two hours already!
"Admit it, Emilia. He'll never come. He stood you up again." those words echoed on her mind.
With nothing else to do, she puts out her favorite romantic novel and started reading it.
"Here's your coffee."
Emilia smiles at Marsha and the coffee cup on her table.
"Thank you as always, Marsha." she thanks her.
"Brent stood you up again?" Marsha suddenly asks her.
"Obviously, yes. Same old story." Emilia replied, while shrugging her shoulders.
"Do you even realize that Brent's a pain in the neck?" Marsha casually commented.
"Yes, I was able to realize it 2 hours ago." Emilia answered in a bored tone.
"He's nothing but a self-centered jerk who looks up to herself as heaven's gift to girls." Marsha spills out.
"Hey, that's supposed to be my line!" protested Emilia.
"I'm glad you've finally realized it. Anyway, I have to go back to work. Enjoy your coffee." Marsha finally said goodbye.
Emilia lets out a big sigh. She's been blind not to see Brent's real character.
She almost said a bad word when she spilled a small amount of coffee on her school uniform. She quickly reaches for the tissue to wipe the stain, but she suddenly saw something under the table mattress. She noticed thay it was a piece of tissue and there was something written on it.

4 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ME.

(IF YOU CARE...)
1.)I'M AN INVISIBLE MAN TO OTHERS.

2.)A LONELY HEARTS CLUB MEMBER

3.)I'M A FREAK.
4.)NO GIRLFRIEND SINCE BIRTH.
                                                               ------Mr. ?------
Emilia was smiling after reading the note on the tissue paper.
"Poor guy. But at least he got humor..." she mumbled to herself, while feeling amused.
She started looking around the coffee shop, while wondering...
"Who could be this guy?"
Half of the male customers got their own dates. Some guys are busy reading. Others are having a serious conversation with their friends. Then suddenly, one idea struck unto her mind. She giggled in excitement while getting something from her bag...
===============================
MORNING.
Brent and the other members of the soccer team were busy having a practice game.
As Brent had the chance to get the ball from their opponent, he hurriedly kicked it and smoothly landed on the goal.
All of the players ran to Brent and gave him encouraging slaps at his back.
"That was good, Brent!" their coach said, while giving him a thumb's up sign.
"Thanks, Coach!" Brent said in return.
"Everybody! Assemble!" yelled the Captain.
All of the team members ran towards their Coach.
"You're all doing great.I think we are ready for the Championships. The practice game is over, take a long, good rest, and don't get into any trouble... Is that clear?"
"Yes, Coach!" the members said in unison.
All of the members started walking to the their locker room to change their clothes.
"You seem so energized today, Jun...Anything special or---- SOMEONE SPECIAL?" Sam,the Vice-Captain asked, while walking along with Brent.
"Nope." Brent immediately responded.
"But how about Emilia?"
"Oh, there's nothing serious going on with Emilia and I. She's just a fling." Brent casually stated.
" I know what you mean. Boys will always be boys..." Sam jokingly commented.
Brent didn't say anything else. He took a swig from his bottle of water. And decides to change the topic of their conversation...
