Chapter Forty-Seven: Targeting The Politician's Son

Emma is walking to the train station on her way to school. She decided to commute because she wants to take photos of the beautiful early autumn scenery. She deeply inhaled the sweet smell of the autumn wind. The view of the falling autumn leaves made her breathless, and she had this urge to take picture of that beautiful scene...
She quickly grabbed her Nikon D90 Camera and took numerous shots of the autumn trees. The leaves are bursting with red and gold colors, and it looks so breathtaking!
She smiled, as she looked at all the photos she took. But her smile suddenly disappeared from her lips once glanced at her wristwatch...
"I'm going to be late!" Amaia exclaimed in shock.
She quickly ran towards the the train station. She ran as if she's in a marathon, until she reached the platform...
Lady Luck must've smiled at her because the train arrived as soon as she reached the platform. She went inside the train, while catching her breath.
The train doors were about to close when a teenage boy ran inside. Luckily, that young man was able to get inside the train, unscathed.
The passengers inside the train are giving the young man different kind looks. Some of them were obviously upset, and there are few of them who looks worried because the man did a dangerous thing...
The guy looks apologetic, and he sincerely apologized to the people inside the train. The seats are already full, so he didn't have a choice but to stand up.
Emma can't explain why, but she couldn't take her eyes off this stranger. She decided to secretly survey the man.
He's wearing a baseball cap, and he's also wearing a very simple white shirt and faded blue jeans. But it was obvious that he's wearing expensive brands of clothes and shoes...
She stopped surveying the guy when she heard him clearing his throat. He caught her staring at him, and now he is frowning at her.
Emma feels so embarrassed, and she instantly averted her eyes away from him.
Then, without any warning, the train suddenly stopped, and Emma almost lost her balance. Fortunately, the guy was able to catch her on time before she falls flat unto the train's floor. She fell straight unto his chest, and in a brief moment, she was able to smell his minty and  fresh body scent...
She suddenly blushed when she noticed that she had been in that position for quite some time. The guy might think that she is taking advantage of the situation. She quickly pulls herself away from him.
"I'm sorry, and thank you for helping me." she said, in a shy manner.
The guy just gave him a clipped nod, but he did not say anything.
Afterwards, they heard one train staff from the speakers, apologizing for the trouble and inconvenience. Then, the train starting moving again, until it stopped at one station.
It was Emma's stop. She quickly steps out from the train, and immediately runs of else the school gates will be closed, and she will be tagged as absent at their school.
She didn't notice that the guy she met on the train is heading to the same direction just like her.
===============================
Emma was able to get into school on time. She was able to attend and complete all of her morning classes, and now, she is spending her lunch time at the Chronicle Newspaper Room, where she is assigned as the photojournalist at their school's official newspaper.
"So, is there any work waiting for me?" Emma excitedly asks her fellow members at The Chronicle Newspaper.
"Well, I've got one for you, Emma." Samantha Simmons, the Editor-In-Chief of "The Chronicles," suddenly spoke.
"Great! What do you have for me, Chief?" Emma excitedly asks her.
"Emma, aside from being a photographer, would you like to write an article at our newspaper as well?" Samantha asked her a million-dollar question.
Emma is caught by surprise when she heard the Editor's question. She's been working as a photographer for the newspaper eversince her freshman year, and this is the very first time she's been asked to write an article.
"Of course, Sam! But why did you suddenly ask me this?" Emma curiously wondered.
Samantha leaned on her swivel chair, with a serious look on her face.
“Well, I’m thinking of giving you a chance to prove yourself. And I think this is the perfect time to show us what you've got. So, tell me--- do you want to take this opportunity or not?"
"I'll do it, Sam!" Emma replied, as she was trying her best not to look to eager and excited.
“You made the right decision, Emma. Here, it contains all the information you should know about your first assignment. And I suggest that you should take this job seriously." Samantha enunciated, while handing a folder towards Emma.
"A Politician's son's Daily Life as a High Schooler?" Emma read the title of the folder, as her brows met in a frown.
“That’s right. You see, I heard our teachers talking about a student transferee in our school who is the son of a popular and straight senator. I've thought that we should write an article about him. We want to interview him, but the principal said that we're restricted. And now, it's your job to do an investigation on how does he live his everyday life being a big politician's son. I want you to find out everything about him." Samantha further explains.
"You mean, stalk them 24/7?" Emma unbelievably asked.
Samantha gave Emma a meaningful smile.
"Stalking is not the proper word for what I have in mind, dear... You can get all the necessary information for your article by fully involving yourself to this mission." she mysteriously stated.
"I-I don't understand." Emma's getting more and more confused as minutes passes by.
Emma, can't you still get it? It's very simple. You need to do everything and anything you can to get closer to the subject and make him fall in love with you!"
Emma blinked, not once but thrice. Her jaw almost dropped halfway to the floor after hearing her Editor.
“You’re kidding me, right?"
"Do I look like I'm kidding? And this is just purely work, so why are you reacting that way?" Samantha exclaimed.
Emma lets out a deep sigh.
"But I'm one hundred percent sure that the subject is not going to fall inlove with me!" she countered.
"Yes, you're not exactly beautiful, Amaia, but you have a pretty face. And your fashion sense, darling... We need to do a makeover." suggested her Editor-In-Chief.
Emma helplessy turned the folder to the other page. She saw her target's photo. She has to admit that the guy in the picture is obviously handsome jaw-dropping gorgeous. But this man looks really familiar to her.
She stared at his thin, kissable, lips... Next, she looked at his mole on his jaw, and that face seems like he's calling for her full attention...
There's no mistake about it, this is the very same guy that she encountered at the train station!
“That young man is Darren Hayes, the one and only son of Senator Daniel Hayes, and the former beauty titleholder Miss Diamond International, Victoria Hayes. He is a celebrity in all of social media platforms and every girls in the cyber world and real world are all going crazy for him because of his brains and looks. What makes Darren Hayes unique is he's cold and aloof, and he doesn't have ANY scandal ever since he was born. So, I want you to be close to him and know his deep, dark secrets..." Samantha relayed.
"Sam, I can't do this." Emma replied.
"Then hand me your resignation letter, as The Chronicle's photographer."  Emma suddenly suggested.
"W- What?!" Emma asked, as her eyes widened in shock.
"Since you don't like this mission, you'd better resign as the photographer. I'll just look for someone else who would be willing to take your place ..." Samantha frankly stated.
"But that's unfair!" Emma replied.
“I don’t care what you think, Emma. You have to choose. I need an answer, NOW."
Emma tightly closed her eyes, as she starts thinking...
This would be a great opportunity for her to finally escape from being a just a photographer for their school's newspaper. She's finally given a chance to do what she loves, which is writing an article...
"I don't have much time, Emma." Samantha suddenly calls for her attention again.
"I'll do it." Emma has finally made up her mind.
Samantha's smiles widened after hearing Emma's decision.
==============================
After a few hours.
It was already after-school hours. Emma, Samantha, and Daisy, one of their classmate who's knows a lot about make-up and fashion are at one of the vacant rooms in their school building.
"Today, Daisy will teach you how to do your own make up so that you can look more attractive, which gives you better chances to catch the target's attention." Samantha announced.
"Do we really need to do this, Sam?" Emma cajoled at her.
"Yes." Samantha firmly answered.
"If I may allow to say this but you're pretty, Emma. You'll be prettier if you can do a little bit of light make up. I'm sure you'll be a popular girl at Palmridge High just like your sister, Emilia." commented Daisy.
Emma just groaned in return.
“I need to help you prepare for your undercover mission. You need to have a total makeover. You need to do this so that you can make Nick Sorrento fall in love with you..." Samantha patiently explains again.
"Is there any other way?" Emma asks again.
"Listen to me, Emma! You have to look beautiful to catch his attention! And did you know that make-ups and fancy dresses are considered as weapons against men? ” Samantha gave her a quick trivia.
"I agree with that." Daisy agrees, while nodding approvingly.
"But this is totally not me. I look so different and I'm not really confident if I can make him fall in love with me!" Emma tries to reason out.
"Don't worry, dear. We will take this one step at a time. But for the meantime, let's do something for your clothes." Samantha changes the topic.
Before Emma could say something, Samantha and Daisy are now talking about what to do with her clothes. They are both looking through fashion magazines, thinking on what fashion style looks best for Emma...
Emma groaned inwardly, while feeling helpless and hopeless.
"Relax, Emma. You won't die with this simple make over. Just trust us, okay?" Samantha tries to reassure her.
Emma didn't have a choice but to follow her Boss' order, in exchange of her dream of being promoted.
