Eun Young turned to Cheska. "How long has he been dead?" "Six years," Cheska replied and sipped on her green tea. “Six years already. She will just visit, they won’t get back together. She won’t revive him. She’s free to have a boyfriend again. Don’t be such a killjoy, Oppa Kuya.” Eun Young playfully elbowed Cheska. "What does your boyfriend look like?" “Tall, tanned, and has a beautiful smile. He is a doctor of children with cancer. He is kind and thoughtful,” she said with a slight smile. The girl held out her palm. “Where is his picture? I want to see.” Just look at your brother. They look exactly the same. "It's on my broken phone." Eun Young rolled her eyes. “Shin-gyeong sseuji maseyo. Never mind. If you don't like Kuya Oppa, I’ll just look for someone else for you.” “HERE. THIS LOOKS GOOD ON YOU,” Eun Young excitedly pressed the pink fur coat against Cheska’s body. They are in one of the boutiques in Myeongdong and checking out clothes. She had no plans on buying anything. She just wanted to look around. "This looks like for teenagers." “Hey! Then why does my grandmother wear the same thing as well? This is what you call fashion. And Seoul is a fashion capital.” She gave out a forced smile. "I-it’s too…beautiful." “Who wants to wear anything that’s too ugly? You haven't bought anything yet. Why don’t you try it first? If it doesn't suit your taste, don't buy it,” the girl muttered. “Boo ta kam nid. Please.” It’s hard doing shopping in Seoul. It doesn't seem practical to buy, especially since she wouldn’t be able to try it on first. It’s still cheaper in the Philippines. She had a big budget but it wasn’t meant for clothes. Besides, it was Mikha who likes colorful clothes that attract attention and makes one look younger. She preferred darker or neutral colors. Black or gray were her favorite colors. Boring, bleak, types that make her look like she was mourning, as Mikha said. Clothes that don’t attract attention. She just blended in the crowd. Colors that go well with the sad atmosphere that the autumn season brought these days. She looked at that particular jacket once again. It was getting dark now because it’s already six in the evening. But everything seemed to brighten up because of that pink jacket. Positive energy. Like rays of sunshine. When was the last time she wore a colorful dress? When did she ever enjoy clothes with floral designs? She couldn’t remember anymore. "Let me try it on first." Eun Young asked permission to try the dress on at the old saleswoman who agreed immediately. She took off her black coat and put on the pink fur coat. Cheska was amazed at the coat she had on at the moment. She felt like someone hugged her chilling body. She also looked elegant and young in that coat. Her face brightened up as well. Color pink looks good on her. “Dangsineun jeongmal aleumdawoyo, unnie! You are beautiful!” Eun Young shrieked when Cheska came out of the dressing room. "Does it really look good on me?" “Yes. It suits you perfectly. I remember that plastic woman wearing these types of clothes. She has a nice fashion sense.” "Alright. I will buy this one,” she said excitedly. She would not let that K-pop star wannabe Carter was so crazy about outshining her. "Olmayaeyo?" Eun Young asked the saleswoman for the price. When Cheska heard the value of the coat, she gave the money with a tight heart. She was also computing in her mind the price if it was converted in peso, and how much more money she would have left. "Wear it now," Eun Yong urged her. “Here in Korea, you could wear anything and it wouldn’t matter. As long as you feel good about it. Express yourself.” She didn’t take off the pink coat. “What else does the girl your brother’s courting usually wear? I feel like we will get along when it comes to fashion sense.” There was nothing wrong with wanting to be beautiful in Carter's eyes, right? After an hour of wandering around the shops, she was able to buy four dresses, a brown knee-high boots, a neon orange sneaker, and four packs of facial masks that were way cheaper in Korea. She didn’t bother computing how much she just spent. All she knew was that her favorite phrase in Korean now was "Kka kka jusaeyo" which means to give her a discount. Mikha will surely be happy to see her new set of clothes. Her friend had been telling her to change the color scheme of her wardrobe. She said it looks depressing. And Cheska didn't want to look depressed anymore. She didn't want the color around her to look dead. She wanted to be colorful and happy. It feels like she was discovering herself just now. And she liked this. As if she was alive again. The last time she shopped like this was when she was preparing to meet Doc Darryl at the airport.
