LIS: 18

“Yes. Looks like a goddess. But you look prettier when I compare you to her old look when she still hasn’t done any surgery. But I don't think Kuya Oppa would even give her attention if he saw her in her natural state. I don’t know, maybe Kuya Oppa was wearing a helmet that’s why he still didn’t realize anything yet.”
“So, this is what girl bonding is like. You gossip about poor men when we are not around,” Carter said, his hands on his taut hips.
He looked like a scary warrior. He was smiling but Eun Young's eyes widened when she turned to him. “Anneonghasaeyo, Kuya Oppa. You told me it is rude to eavesdrop in someone else’s conversation.” Then the teenager turned to her. “Mat ji? Right, Cheska?”
Cheska wanted to sink into her seat. Why did she even have to be the one to ask about the girl Carter had been courting? What would I say when Eun Young said I was the one who asked? What if they asked if I was interested in him? Will I admit it?
“Of course, we will talk about you. You are my favorite person in this world, Kuya Oppa,” Eun Young said sweetly. "I'd rather talk about you than Kpop idols and Korean actors."
"W-what are you doing here?" Cheska asked as Carter sat across from her.
“I tracked her. I’m worried she would drag you to some bar,” she replied and raised the girl's arm. Then Cheska saw that her watch had a GPS.
Eun Young giggled. “Oppa, I’m not a child anymore. I am eighteen. Unnie is old enough too. Can I go to gay bars now?”
“Yah! Do you want to be expelled from school?” Carter growled at his sister.
Cheska took a plate and put lettuce leaves on it, then she wrapped the Soegogi-gui and urged Carter to take it. “Don't be such a hot-headed. Just eat. I won’t go to a gay bar anyway. I would rather sleep.”
“Oppa, there is no need to go to a gay bar. You’re hotter and more handsome than the men there. Plus, you’re free.” Carter looked like he wanted to say something, but his eyes just widened in the ridiculousness of his sister’s words. And he was still chewing Soegogi-gui. Eun Young continued to tease him. “You are just a little stingy and have no taste. You prefer someone who had gone under the knife with no talent. You won't have a famous girlfriend if you wait for that one.”
“Yahhh! You shouldn't judge Min Ji!” he scolded Eun Young. “It’s part of her job to improve herself on the things she’s lacking.” He placed his hand over his chest. "Are you saying I'm shallow and that I don't look at people’s attitudes?"
Inner beauty. Carter was just like Doc Darryl who believes that a person’s character and good manners were more important than outward appearance. That’s the reason why he liked her.
This is a sign! This means there’s a chance that Carter might like me even when I’m not as pretty as Sandara Park. It really meant that the two of us would meet because he was the guy who could appreciate me for what I really am. So I didn’t work out with the other person I was dating because he was the only one I was waiting for.
“She’s kind to you because she needed something from you. She’s a witch, I’m telling you,” Eun Young said. “She once borrowed a shirt from me with Lee Min Ho’s sign and she didn’t want to give it back. She said she it’s hers now.”
“She is a fan. Besides, I already paid you for it, didn’t I?” Carter argued.
“You are blinded by her fake face. You’re the only one who believes she’s an angel.”
“Min Ji is nice. She just had so much stress sometimes. Training takes so much hard work to be able to enter the entertainment industry. Once you get to know her better, you’ll know she’s a good person.”
I don’t care if she turns out to be a saint. It’s the inner beauty that’s important, Carter. Inner beauty.
"All right - if you were to choose between an ugly person but really nice and a future Kpop star but has a rotten personality, who would you choose?” Eun Young asked her older brother, crossing her arms.
“I’ll choose the future Kpop star. It’ll be nice to have a famous girlfriend. I’ll be the envy of every man.”
Cheska just turned her attention on the grilled Soegogi-gui. Her illusion was shattered again. Carter does not know inner beauty. He only sees its beauty because it’s famous. He was just like any other typical man who only wants outward appearance.
No such thing as forever. Annoying.
“So, why are you pouting like that?” Carter noticed Cheska.
"You took my prawns," she said instead. She also ordered seafood ramen.
“Mianhamnida. Sorry. There is still one more here.” And Carter put some in her bowl. “Eat slowly. Sauce might ruin your coat. It will be a waste because it looks good on you.”
Cheska stopped her secret tantrums. “Really? It looks good on me?”
“Yes. You look like a child who’s always happy. That coat makes you look good. You should always wear something like that,” he said, giving her a thumb’s up.
"Thank you," she said and pinned the strand of her hair behind her ear.
He just told me I’m pretty. Success! Confetti in the air!
She was not in a hurry. She and Carter were just starting to get to know each other. In the end, she knew she was the one who would win his heart.
