LIS: 12

“No. He doesn't need to know. It would be too weird. ”
“It's weirder if you call him Darryl and he knows that that's the name of the person on the grave you were gonna visit in Jeju Island. He might kick you out of the house. Men never like being called by some other man’s name.”
Cheska admitted that her friend’s words were valid. She was crazy for mixing up Doc Darryl and Carter, for trying to put them into one person. But for seven years, Doc Darryl looked like that to him. It would take a lot of getting used to.
“Fine. I will try my best to call him Carter. ” She rubbed her hands together. “Aren’t you happy for me? Isn't this a big improvement compared to when I talked to Doc Darryl's pictures? This is the first time I only felt like this again. I feel light. As if I can laugh out loud. This one is a real human. And I get to spend one whole week with him. ”
“I get it. You missed getting off your station because you don’t want to get away from Carter.”
“Because I didn't notice I missed my station. I was emotional. He hugged me and… ”
“Uhumm… You're not depressed now that you didn't get to Jeju and visit Doc Darryl's grave because there was a living, breathing version of him. Hmmmm…”
“Why don’t you focus on the positive side? Without Doc Darryl two-point-zero in my life, Lost in Seoul would be my drama. And you know how disoriented I am with my phone ruined and all.”
"And he's also the reason why you missed Gimpo Station."
She touched her forehead. “Don’t you get it? Maybe there is a reason for everything. If my flight wasn't delayed, we wouldn't be on the same train together. We will not meet. And if I didn’t miss my station, I would be in Jeju now. I-I don’t think I would be this happy. Maybe heaven sent him to me to be happy. He was the one sent to me to be able to move on. And you want me to move on.”
“Not like this. You’re trying to re-live him into someone else. It is like living in the past, only worse. This is not moving on.”
She raised both hands. When it came to lectures like these, she never wins against her friend. “Fine. Carter. Carter, Carter, Carter!”
She was startled when someone knocked on her door. “Are you calling for me? Do you need something?"
CHESKA HELD HER BREATH. Oh, no! Carter heard him. She covered her mouth. You might think she was fantasizing about him. How far did he hear in their conversation?
Micah: Calm down. Keep calm. Don't let him notice we’re talking about him.
Cheska took a deep breath and racked her brain for some excuse. “Y-yes. I-I don't have a towel here. I can't take a shower.”
“Can I come in? I'm sure there is a towel in your room,” he said.
She motioned to her friend before opening the door. "H-Hi!" she greeted Carter. He was wearing a black long sleeve shirt and denim pants.
He looked around. He went to her bed and picked up a yellow towelette from the pillow. "This one is the towel."
"Is that it?" Carter nodded. “This is just a towelette. I can't even wrap that around my hair. How much more when I use it for my body?”
“This is super absorbent. It is even more absorbent than the large towels you use in the Philippines. Haven’t you seen this use in those Korean dramas?”
“To dry the hair. I’m not sure about using it for the whole body.”
"Try it first and then find me later if you really needed a bigger towel." He looked at her opened laptop. "What are you doing?"
“I’m chatting with my friend, Mikha. Mikha, this is Carter, the one who helped me earlier and the owner of this place I’m staying in.”
Her computer seemed like it hung up because Mikha looked stunned, eyes wide. She knew her friend thought she was hallucinating again when it comes to this man who looked like Doc Darryl. Now Mikha finally saw the uncanny resemblance of the men that she had been talking about.
Carter gave out a beautiful smile that showed his beautiful set of white teeth. “Anneong hasaeyo. Cheska didn't tell me she had a beautiful friend.”
Beautiful? He said Mikha was beautiful was smiling like that. He was flirting with her friend. While he never smile at her like that, never got any compliment about her beauty.
How nice it would be to whack him with a broom.
Mikha bowed slightly. “Kamsahamnida. Thanks for taking care of my friend. I’m leaving her to your good graces because it's her first time traveling outside the country on her own. She has no plans to go to Seoul this early. She’s not used to creating new plans or having those plans broken.”
“Sure. I'll take care of her. For you.” And Carter winked at her friend.
Cheska gave Carter a sharp look. How could he flirt with her friend? And in front of her. She felt like a large nail drove into her heart. She was never the jealous type. It wasn’t an issue to her if people thought Mikha was more beautiful than her. She wasn't even jealous when Mikha had a boyfriend who was a handsome, smart, and rich engineer. She could find her own happiness. Until now. Until she saw Carter show interest in her friend.
She could feel the jealousy eating up her soul. Of all the women Carter could flirt with, does it really have to be with her friend, and in front of her?
And Mikha seemed to have noticed that as well. “I have to go.” She waved at them. “I have an appointment. Bye! Have fun in Korea. Don’t forget what I told you." Mikha winked. Her last instruction was to not call Carter with Doc Darryl’s name.
