10:20 PM... Junming's POV... I'm glad that I didn't take too much shots during the final minutes, otherwise I wouldn't be able to drive calmly tonight with the sight of a drunken Jiayi sitting next to me. I would have a hard time controlling myself if I got more lost with the night, yet I knew I still needed to go home, and of course, take this girl home safely first. As I continue to drive through the quiet night, my vision gazed for a second for a quick sight of Jiayi, who in this state looks both drunk and sleepy at the same time. She must have been drunk enough to not bother to fix her glasses position which had slip down a bit to the bridge of her nose, and her shoulder lenght hair looking a bit messy. I remembered she eventually got carried away with taking shots, that she eventually ended up getting badly drunk. Though I eventually changed her drink to ice water after I saw her took many shots, perhaps her body wasn't as strong as mine to handle the effect from the alcohol, hence making her seem to have taken it heavier, which deep down, made me feel terribly guilty. Jiayi, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let you drink too much. I thought. "Ah, I'm sorry for troubling you, Mr Cheng," Jiayi says in a low and drunken tone. "It's ok. I should have looked after you better back there," I say, not really wanting her to regret her actions earlier since I knew that it was my fault for letting her lose control. "I should have took better control of myself," Jiayi says. Hearing her statement, I smile at how I thought her respond was so cute. Her vibe just seems so innocent, it's giving me more flashbacks of Xinyi, which again gave me a deep feeling. Overall, her innocent behaviour made it hard to believe that she's already an adult. "Are you drunk, Mr Cheng?" Jiayi asks. "I'm not drunk. I had to control myself to get us back home," I say. "By the way, you can call me Junming. It's ok." "Ok, Junming," Jiayi says. As I continue to drive through the quiet night with the drunk girl sitting next to me, I figured that we might not known each other too well back there when we were both too busy getting drunk. The only time we actually had a good conversation in getting to know each other was during lunch back then. Well, I guess some light conversations would be ok to make this ride less boring. "So, you help your mom make milk tea?" I ask her. I remember I haven't ask her that question, since last time she only told be that she's in charge of delivery. "Yeah. Sometimes I also cook," Jiayi says in a tipsy tone. "Oh, good. What kind of food do you cook?" I ask her. Well, I didn't know the girl could also cook. "Noodles, congee, anything else," Jiayi says. "I see," I say. "So, you only live together?" "Yeah. My parents actually got divorced before he passed away," Jiayi says, which quickly gave me a deep feeling inside. I had no idea that her dad passed away, that knowing this makes me feel uncomfortable. "Oh, umm...I'm sorry to hear that," I say, completely feeling guilty of the information I just heard. I didn't have any idea that her dad was already gone. "It's ok," Jiayi says. Hearing her response, I let silence fills the air for a moment as I continue to focus on the road. Tonight, I'm happy about the business matters with Wang Yize that reached a good final for both parties. Of course, which was talked over a good drink and some singing. Yet, watching Jiayi got carried away with drinking and even listen to her sing some songs was quite a refreshing sight. Listening to her soft voice tonight, she gives me more flashbacks of Xinyi, making me more curious of her story. Jiayi, you really are a mysterious girl. "By the way, thanks for the ride," Jiayi adds. "No problem," I say. With my final words, we let silence fill the air once again, as I continue to drive through the quiet night, with the sight of the tipsy yet cute girl almost falling asleep next to me, making my heart feel a peaceful sensation despite the curiousity of her resemblance to Jiayi keeps spinning in my head. A few minutes later... At Tiancha Bubble Milk Tea Shop... "Ok, we arrived," I say as I open the car door for Jiayi. At this time, she is already in a state where she almost fell asleep, yet my voice seems to wake her up, making her open her cute, almond shaped brown eyes. I gently unbuckle her seat-belt, in which she looked quite weak to even move a muscle. "Ok, thank you," Jiayi says as she attempts to get out of the car, yet I quickly grab her shoulder and hold her hand as I see her vision are still tipsy. In this case, I doubt she could walk properly with the effect of the alcohol still inside of her. "Be careful," I say as I slowly lead her away from the car door. I close the car door with one hand, and continue to lead her inside the bubble tea shop. I see one of the light is still turned on, which means her mom is probably still waiting for her. Yet, I don't see any sight of her mother. We enter the bubble tea shop, and I put her to sit down on one of the chairs. I look at her drunk face one last time. For the first time, I noticed how her eyes shows a look of sorrow, yet there is also hope in them. I am surprised of this realization, since this is the first time I am seeing a more vulnerable look from Jiayi, when all this time, the only thing I noticed is her innocent nature which resembles Xinyi. Looking at her from this single light, tonight I realized that though she has the innocent traits of Xinyi, from her aura, she is a young woman with her own journey, which might not have the easist story. "Thank you for tonight, Junming," Jiayi says. Her voice still sounds tipsy. "No problem," I say, as I continue to stare at her drunken state as she lay her head on the table. Though I actually wanted to stay longer just to make sure she is ok, I realized that it's late and that I have to return home. Yiling is already waiting for me, and I wouldn't want to disappoint her by making her wait longer. "I shall go home now. Goodnight, Jiayi," I say. "Goodnight, Junming," Jiayi says. After hearing her answer, my heart again feels a peaceful feeling as I exit the bubble tea shop and enter my car. I begin to start the engine, ready to return home to my wife is already waiting at home. A few minutes later... Jiayi's POV... I slowly got up from my seat, my head still spinning from the effect of the alcohol. Never again will I be taking multiple shots without thinking far. I really got myself into some trouble. If it wasn't for Junming tonight, I don't know how I could even get home, or even take care of myself in this state. I take small steps as I attempt to walk upstairs, ready to let my tipsy body fall on the comfy bed and hopefully get some hours of sleep. Yet, as I was about to take the first step up, I hear sounds of foot-steps walking down the stairs, making me stop with my steps. I turn my head to see my mom now standing in front of me, right in front of the stairs. Her face looks furious as her sharp eyes widens with a look of rage. I almost thought she was already asleep at this hour. "Did you went out with Cheng Junming?" my mom asks in fury. "Ugh...yeah, yet we went out with Liwei and some other guys too," I say in a tipsy tone. I really hope my mom would calm down faster so I could continue to go upstairs and fall asleep. "What did I told you about going out with that guy? So you lied to me becauee of a married guy?" my mom shouts in fury, making me almost shock by the tone of her voice. "I heard everything you said downstairs," she adds. For what I remember, I didn't say anything that could start a fight. "Ma, I really did went out with Liwei," I say. Which was true, Liwei was definitely there with us, yet Junming was also there in which I spent most of my time tonight interacting with him. At least, when we're not busy drinking. But other than, we didn't do anything that would be over the boundaries. "I'll be going to bed first," I add as I attempt to get to the side in order to walk up the stairs, yet before I could take any steps, I felt a hard slap on my left cheek, almost sending me to lose my balance out of shock. I touch my left cheek in pain as my vision goes up to see the person who slapped me. My mom stood in fury as her gaze towards me starts to look deadly, making the fear in me slowly to increase. To be continue...
