"Hello, Junming. What are you doing?" Jiayi asks through the phone, yet the tone of her voice sounds more low, and a bit of nervous as she tries her hardest to hide the sadness. After walking around while trying to calm herself down, Jiayi eventually decided to visit Junming's office, literally because she doesn't know who else to visit for help. Since she dropped out of elementary school at an early age, Jiayi never really have any friends. The only reason she even met Liwei in the first was because he came to her milk tea shop by chance. By this, she felt frustrated knowing that she doesn't where to go after getting kicked out, and Junming was the only person who happen to cross her mind, even though she deeply feels guilty about it. Jiayi's not really one who often ask for help from others. She feels a deep guilt in doing so. "Just heading down to get lunch. How about you?" Junming asks, as he walks inside the elevator to head down. "Actually, I'm at your office right now," Jiayi answers, in a both awkward and uncomfortable tone. The situation makes her feel like she is in hell as she struggles to hold herself back from bursting out in tears. "Oh, what are you doing?" Junming asks with a bit of confusion. He didn't expect the young girl to suddenly appear in his office. He thought she was probably still taking some rest after last night. Jiayi went silence for a while as she takes a deep breath. She would need to explain to him the details which would make her feel embarrassed of herself, which she struggles to not let out a tear. "My mom kicked me out of the house," Jiayi says while struggling to hold back the tears that are about to come out from her eyes. Yet, the only thing she could hear through the phone, to her surprise, is silence. There's no answer from Junming. "Hello? Junming?" Jiayi is confuse, yet at this point she is also on the edge of bursting out in tears. "I'm here. Turn around," Junming says through the phone. Jiayi turns around with her phone still hold up to her ear. Her almond-shaped eyes slightly widens as she stood in shock, looking at the sight of Junming who had been standing behind her. She didn't expect to see him this way, more likely she forgot that it's lunch time and that he is about to go down to get lunch. A few minutes later... At Instant Pot... Junming's POV... I watch as Jiayi eats her chicken noodles, though she eats with a calm manner, I could tell from her face that she looks desperate yet also sad at the same time. Her eyes were holding back tears from bursting out when she told me about why did her mom kicked her out, and that the reason was because she misunderstood the relationship I have with her daughter. Though Jiayi convienced me to not feel guilty about it, and that she is the one who feels uncomfortable. Yet, the guilt kept tinkling inside, knowing that I was the reason that she got in trouble with her mother. I really didn't expect to get her into this hard position just for a night out. "How about if I talk to your mother about this misunderstanding?" I ask her. Of course, I didn't want the relationship between the mother and daughter to shatter because of me. "I already talked to her before, yet she didn't believe me and burst out in anger," Jiayi says. "I'm sorry to say but I think she would only get more angry when she sees you." I take a sip of my cup of warm tea. She had a point, that it would be impossible to convience someone who already has her own belief of what she thinks is right. It's not really impossible to change a stubborn mind, yet when one already has their own mind with their own belief of what is "right", that would be harder to change their perspective when they already put a negative thought in the mind. "That's why, I was wondering if you happen to have an available job for me?" Jiayi asks. Though I could tell she is struggling to sound calm, the tone of her voice explains enough of the chaos she's feeling. I become silent for a moment as I take another sip of my tea. Thinking about an available job, there isn't any available jobs yet in our company. We are currenly not looking for any new employees. Yet, I understand how desperate and in need she is right now. By that, I thought I could think of another solution. "The company is currently not looking for any new employees," I say. "Yet, the help I can give you right now is to pay a hotel for you to stay in the meantime." Hearing that, Jiayi sighs. She gently grabs her glass of water and takes a sip of it, before putting it down in a bit of a restless manner. Despite her innocent look, I didn't imagine she is the type who could be so depress during hardships. But remembering back about Xinyi, I remember how she used to get easily depressed when getting a bad grade which would affect her the whole day. I guess, these are also some of the small similarities the two shares. This realization just made me more sure that the chances of her being Xinyi is bigger, yet for now, I might still have a lot more to know about her. "Junming, I really don't want to trouble you this way," Jiayi says. "It would be better if I work for you and not trouble you like this. Besides, there's no way I would be staying in a hotel forever. I just need a place to stay and a job so I could eventually pay my own rent." Hearing her words, again she zips my lips to silent. It's going to be quite a challenge for me to find a job for her knowing that there are none available. "Any job would do, for now. I could also cook and clean your house if you want," Jiayi adds. Again, I didn't say a word and just take another sip of my tea. Looking at the situation right now where she is desperate about everything that happened, I honestly want to help her with all I can. She surely sounds desperate enough that she said she could also clean my home. Though Yiling told me from the beginning of our marriage that it was unnecessary for us to hire a maid at the moment, yet knowing that she is pregnant right now and would need a lot of rest, I hope she would change her mind if I try to convience her to hire Jiayi. At least, I figured that's the only way I could help her at the moment. "I shall try to talk to my wife regarding this matter," I say to her. "Excuse me for a moment." With my final words, I get up from my seat and pull out my phone. Knowing that I would be too busy to talk during work hours, I figured this is the only time where I could call my wife and talk to her about this matter. Of course, I could only hope she would agree with my thought, and hope that she would understand that I'm just trying to help the poor girl. Meanwhile.... "Ok, I'm gonna go get lunch now," Liwei says on the phone. He is having a phone call with Lina, who as usual, always call him during lunch time just to make sure that other than he's gonna have lunch, yet also make sure that he is not with another woman during lunch break. "Bye," Liwei says before hanging up the phone as he continues to walk outside the office. Like usual, he often feels exhausted after answering the phone from Lina. Not because he didn't like her calling him, yet because he didn't like that they could never have a healthy conversation. Her jealousy in their relationship often causes the two to debate even at the silliest things. Thinking about it again, he even realized that their growing, unhealthy relationship was one of the reasons why he out of plan, fell in love Jiayi a year ago. "What the hell?" Liwei says to himself as he stops with his steps in front of Instant Pot. He was planning to get a quick takeaway to bring back to the office, yet to his surprise, from outside the glass door, he sees a desperate looking Jiayi attempting to finish her bowl of noodle, while Junming is standing not too far from her on the side, talking to someone on the phone. He wasn't expecting to see the girl at Instant Pot today, and more likely to see her in the same room with the project manager. The sight of them gave him many questions in his head about her presence today, when he though To be continue...
