A few hours later... 7:45 PM... At Junming's apartment... Yiling's POV... I sit on the couch as I look at the clock hanging on the wall. I grab the cup of tea which I had placed on the small table in front of the couch. I took a sip of the herb tea, while waiting for my husband to return home, much to my dismay when I heard that he'll be bringing home Liwei's female friend to work for us as a maid, since she doesn't have a place to stay or even job. I told him that it wasn't neccesary to hire a maid at this point, yet he insisted that he thought I needed someone to help cook and clean the house. I didn't agree with the idea, yet from his explanations earlier, it was like he was just worried about the girl's condition that he hope I would agree with him. Screaming in my thoughts, why didn't she just ask Liwei for help? Why would she need to ask my husband? As I continue to sip on my herb tea, I hear the sound of the door being unlock, slowly opening with the sound of foot-steps entering. I didn't bother to stand up and see the girl who will be staying with us, since I wanted to calm my down my emotions first to avoid yelling at my husband. "My wife." Junming's gentle voice tinkles through my ears, yet I didn't bother to get up just yet. I am aware that he is standing right behind me, yet I'm just going to wait till he walks up in front of me. I'm just gonna answer him with a short answer. "Yes," I say. Again, I hear foot-steps walking up to me. This time, I see the sight of my husband and the girl who is standing next to him. I shift my icy gaze from my husband to the girl as I begin to study her from head to toe. Her eyes look at me in fear as she shifts her vision to the ground, completely avoiding any eye contact with me. "My wife, this is Zhang Jia Yi, the one I talked to you about on the phone," Junming says. "Jiayi, this is Wu Yi Ling, my wife." "Hello, Sister Yiling," that girl, Jiayi, says in a shy tone with her vision now meeting mine, yet her eyes still speaks a look of intimidation. I could tell she feels uncomfortable staring at me. "It's nice to meet you, Jiayi," I say while forcing myself to form a fake smile. Though I bet she knew that I wasn't really pleasant to see her presence, yet I had to play nice in front of Junming in order avoid unwanted conflicts. Besides, maybe if I keep this up, I could eventually find a way to get Jiayi dirty and hence tell Junming to fire her eventually. "My husband told me a lot about you," I add. "Please, make yourself feel like home." Hearing my last sentence, Jiayi's lips suddenly forms a small smile, despite her eyes still showing a look of uncomfort. I slowly shift my gaze to Junming, who is still standing next to her. "Husband, you should show Jiayi her room and tell her about her schedules," I say to my husband. "Ok," Junming says. "Jiayi, let's go." "Ok," Jiayi answers as the two finally walks away from my sight. Though it's gonna be annoying to live on the same apartment with that little girl, I shall do my best to make Junming get rid of her. Meanwhile... At the guest room... "This is your room," Junming says as he opens the door of the guest room for Jiayi. "Woah, Junming. You don't have to do this, I can sleep on the couch," Jiayi says as she enters the small guest room which includes a single bed, a wardrobe, and a small table next to the bed. "It's ok," Junming. "We have two rooms in this apartment. Might as well I give you the other one." Jiayi's vision starts to study the room. She feels overwhelmed by Junming's amount of kindness towards her, that it's starting to make her feel bad in a way. Knowing that he was already kind enough to let her stay at his place and give her a job, she was already thankful enough. She didn't want him to give her too much, especially after seeing that his wife might feel uncomfortable about her presence. "Ok, let's just move on to your schedules. I just sent it to you," Junming says as he pulls out his phone, in which he already wrote down Jiayi's work schedules in which he just sent to her in advance. "Ok," Jiayi says as she pulls out her phone to read the schedules Juming just sent her. "So work starts at 6:30 AM, in which you will cook breakfast every morning from Monday to Saturday. After that, you would only need to clean up the apartment and help Yiling if she needs any help. Lunch is to be prepared at 11 AM. Yiling wanted my lunch to be deliver to my office so you can send it to me after. After that, you would only need to prepare dinner at 5 PM, and after that you would be free. As for Sunday, you have an off day," Junming states, with Jiayi still reading her schedules on the phone. Though she thought it wasn't too much work compare to Junming's hospitality, she knew she had to be responsible about it. She would also need to safe much time since after cooking lunch, she would need to deliver it to Junming and return to the apartment after to continue cleaning up and help Yiling if needed. "Ok, I got it," Jiayi says. Junming smiles. "Then you should get some rest now. It's been a long day." "Ok, goodnight, Junming," Jiayi says. "Goodnight," Junming says before walking out of the guest room, leaving Jiayi alone. Jiayi's POV.... I took a seat on the bed, feeling exhausted after all that happened today. Not to mention I didn't get any sleep last night after the argument I had with my mom. The pain of thinking that she really kicked me out of the house still stings freshly. I never thought that a night out would really cause such a big misunderstanding, and that I truly feel bad about it. Tears start to fill my eyes again at the flashbacks from last night, the way she yelled at me and called me a traitor really hurt. Since my dad passed away, I've always seen her as my single parent. She's the only person I ever consider a family, who I've loved with all my heart. We've always been together through ups and downs, and never in my life did I thought about leaving her even if one day I fall in love. Even if I fall in love, I would still always love her. She's my queen, my everything. Yet, this morning she said I was a traitor and accused me that I was gonna leave her for Junming who is a married man. Though deep inside my heart, I knew I have an attraction towards Junming, especially after spending time with him last night and seeing his kindness. Yet, I would never leave my mom. At least, that's what I know in me. Suddenly, my phone starts to ring from my pocket. I quickly grab my phone to see who would be calling me at this hour. To my surprise, I see Liwei's name on the screen. "Hello," I say after picking up the phone. "Jiayi, how are you?" Liwei asks. "I'm ok. I'm staying at Junming's apartment. I am now working at his home," I say. "What? Oh, I see," Liwei says. "So you're not at Tiancha anymore?" "No. Actually, I had a fight with my mom, and she asked me to leave the house," I say. Again, the flashback of this morning haunts me again, making me start to tear up again. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. What happened?" Liwei asks in an apologetic tone. "My mom found out about Junming's presence last night. She thought I was dating him in a way and got angry," I say. "Wow, I'm sorry to hear that," Liwei says. From his voice, I could sense he starts to feel awkward at the situation. "It's ok. I'll be ok," I say, not wanting to worry Liwei. "So how was your day?" "It was fine," Liwei says. "I just thought about calling you to check regarding your condition." "I'm fine, Liwei. Thanks for caring though," I say. "Well, I need to go to bed now. Work starts tomorrow." "Ok, goodnight, Jiayi," Liwei says. "Goodnight, Liwei," I say before ending the call. I get up and put my phone on the small table next to the bed. Realizing that I have to wake up early tomorrow, I figure it's time I start to clean up and go to bed. Hopefully after I wake up, all this pain would fade away, making me forget about the pain that stings tonight. To be continue...
