Jiayi's POV... I continue to sob into Junming's chest. For now, I don't want to think much about what I'm doing since I feel completely lost. I just couldn't hold back all the emotions after the phone call with my mom, that I ended up bursting out in tears when I saw Junming. As I let myself continue to soak into his chest, with my arms wrapped around his body tightly, somehow I feel a familiar spark in our embrace. I found this to be odd since this is the first time I ever get into an embrace with him. Yet somehow I feel as if his touch is something I am familiar of. While my head is lying on his chest, as if I could hear his heart beat that made my heart beat slightly faster. "Junming, what is the meaning of this?" My heart almost stop when the sound of Sister Yiling suddenly rings through my ears. In fear, I quickly pull away from the embrace between Junming and I. Junming's face looked shocked, with his eyes looking guilty while staring at his wife who I assumed to be standing behind me. Guilt starts kicking inside my heart, knowing that being caught by Yiling while I was at my worst state and getting comfort by her husband was the last thing I would want to happen. "My wife, Jiayi just had some issues with her mother. She's just not feeling at her best," Junming says as he walks away from me to face his wife. With guilt, I slowly turn around to face Yiling who is crossing her arms with a cold look written all over her face. Though Junming is standing in front of her now, her gaze continues to glance at me with a look of fury. As if her eyes shows a look of burning flame, the way she gaze at me looks as if one glance was enough to kill me in a second. "Husband, it's late. You should get some sleep and not get distracted," Yiling says with her eyes still looking sharply into mine, making me feel ashame of my guilty presence knowing that she had probably marked me after she witness my embrace with her husband. "Yes. I shall go to bed," Junming says. "Let's get some rest." Junming gently grabs Yiling by her shoulder as they walk together to their master bedroom, leaving me to stood next to the dining table alone. Looking at the sight of them together, my mind couldn't help but wonder about the familiar feeling I received during the embrace with Junming. His gentleness wasn't something new, as if I experienced it before yet I couldn't get my mind to remember. It's odd, because when I remember now about our first encounter, I did notice that there was something about his brown eyes that made me feel as if I saw them before somewhere. I want to believe that my thoughts would be impossible since I literally just knew him for a month, yet why does it seem like I've known him before, in another time? The next day... 7:30 AM... Yiling is having her breakfast alone after Junming decided to leave for work earlier. For today, Jiayi cooked congee with mushroom and chopped carrots, steamed fish, and boiled eggs. Last night, she had a small argument with Junming right after the two decided to enter their room. Yiling had assumed the worst when he saw Junming and Jiayi embracing one another near the dining table, and though Junming had tried to explain to her the reason behind what happened, she wasn't satisfy with his answer and still thought there was something else happening between the two. Since what happened last night, Yiling had formed a much more negative thought towards Jiayi. In this state, she is afraid that the young girl could possibly ruin her marriage with her presence. You think you can have a thing with him behind my back? Let's just see about that, Zhang Jiayi. Yiling thought. As Yiling continues to eat her congee, Jiayi walks back from the kitchen with a big plate of fruit pudding. She had finally finished making it to serve for dessert. Though she is still awkward about facing Yiling after what she saw last night, she wanted to make it up to her by making her favorite dessert, which was fruit pudding. "Sister Yiling, the pudding is ready," Jiayi says as she puts the big plate of fruit pudding on the table. "Thank you, just put it there," Yiling says. "Please, have a slice for yourself." "Oh, I am still full after breakfast, Sister Yiling. It's ok," Jiayi says, feeling awkward that the two of them are actually having a decent conversation after what happened last night. "You've been here for a month now," Yiling says. "Of course I am starting to consider you as a friend. Though I also believe that friends have boundaries." Hearing that, Jiayi feels awkward when she pull out her last sentence. She felt like she was trying to send some sort of message which she think she knew what it meant. "Junming and I, we've been married for seven years. I believe he told you before about that," Yiling says before taking another spoon of her congee. "Yes, he did told me," Jiayi says, though she is starting to feel more tense at the situation. "Our marriage life has been going well, and we are beyond happy to know that this year we are finally given the chance to have a child, in which we've been waiting for in a long time," Yiling states. Hearing that, Jiayi just stood in silence with her vision looking down. The uncomfortable feeling she gets during the tension of awkwardness. The statement from Yiling regarding her marriage to Junming rings like a reminder of her own guilt of seemingly getting too close with Junming last night. "That's why, all I want is to just cherish this long-awaited, beautiful moment in the best way. Being a workaholic, Junming sometimes forgot to rest. Yet, he told me he was going to make a change for our child, as it's should be," Yiling says. Slowly, Jiayi's vision shifts up to see Yiling, who is now staring at her bowl of congee. With guilt lingering in her heart, it's like the guilt starts cutting herself slowly, hence killing herself softly with the reality of her position in between Junming and Yiling. After hearing Yiling's desire to have a happy family, her heart feels weak by guilt. To know that all Yiling wants is for her husband to have some time for her little family. Coming from a broken family, Jiayi understood the hard times of being a woman when her husband is not around, and sometimes all a woman wants is to have a happy family. I have to keep my distance from Junming. For the peace and happiness of their family. Jiayi thought. A few hours later... 11:54 AM... At Xiyang Hydroelectrical Company... "I understand, Mr Wang," Junming says on the phone as he waits for the elevator door to open. He is on the phone with Wang Yize. "Of course we would want what's best for this," Junming adds as he enters the elevator, heading down to the lobby to pick up his lunch Jiayi had left. "Ok, goodbye," Junming says as he ends the call and puts his phone back in his pocket. Just as the elevator door opens, he sees Jiayi who is standing in front of the reception desk. He assumed she had just left his lunch there. "Good afternoon, Mr Cheng," the lady at the reception greets him. "Good afternoon. I'm here to get my delivery," Junming says as he slowly shifts his vision from the reception lady to Jiayi, who didn't realize of his presence till she heard his voice. "Oh, I just left it here," Jiayi says, with a small smile on her lips. Yet, Junming noticed that her smile looked different than usual. Today she looked somehow awkward, in which he wanted to believe it was after what happened between them last night. Junming raise his left eyebrow while staring at Jiayi. Being honest to himself, he was also curious about her sudden embrace during her crying session. Though he only intended to calm her down, he was surprised that her touch gave him a familiar spark that Xinyi used to gave him when they were kids. This realization got him more drawn to her by curiousity, though he knew he needed to set some boundaries with her especially when they are with Yiling. He felt bad for making her misunderstood the situation after the two got back to their room last night. Flashback... "I didn't say I would agree if you brought her here just to have fun with you," Yiling says in a cold tone as she tries her hardest to control her temper to not yell at him at this hour. While standing in front of their king size bed, Yiling is staring at her husband with sharp eyes. "Do you really want to make a change for this family? Cheng Junming, you're going to be a father and you're still playing around with a younger woman?" Yiling asks, this time in a more furious tone. Junming became silent. He felt guilty that his wife had to see him in such position that eventually caused them into having this argument tonight, when he knew well she should be getting enough rest especially during her condition. He didn't want to argue back knowing that he's the one with guilt, yet he knew he couldn't also stay silent in a time like this. He has to fix things. "My wife, I am sorry. It was all a misunderstanding. I never had anything with Jiayi, and only intended to give her a job because her mom kicked her out of the house," Junming says. "What happened tonight was a mistake. You know, you have always been my priority since we were young, and now our family is my biggest priority." Hearing that, Yiling's eyes starts to tear up. Despite her burning rage towards her husband's action of hugging a younger woman just now, his touching words again didn't fail to touch her sensitive heart, hence making her feel touched by his words. Deep down, she knew her husband had always been a responsible man since they were younger. Even before the two got married, he had always been there for her through their ups and downs. Even when he went out which would involve drinking and possibly other women, he would always find his way back home to be by her side. Suddenly, Junming pulls Yiling into his embrace. As Yiling's tears begins to run down from her eyes, Junming starts caressing her long hair while attempting to calm her down. Looking at his wife in his embrace, his heart feels weak just by the sight knowing that she doesn't deserve to feel the sorrow and fury tonight which was caused by his action of a misunderstanding. Having been busy most of the time, he sometimes forgot that his wife is also a fragile woman, who often needs his attention and time. End of flashback.... To be continue...
