chapter 14

I jolted awake, feeling like I stopped breathing. My heart was sprinting a mile a minute. I took around the room, scanning the environment, it was dark and empty, I was laying in the middle of a four-cornered room.
"Is anyone there?" I asked as I stood up.
Once I heard whispers behind me, I was startled "Rachel!" I heard the faint voice say
"Rachel," The voice said as I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I gasped, walking up I discovered I was laid on the bed. My heart began to beating, I gulped when I saw Alice sited beside me.
"Are you okay? I heard you scream." She said

I was still looking around, when I noticed the room was quiet and calm, there was no reason to panic. I let out a breath of relief.

"Are you okay?" She asked again

"Yeah, I’m fine," I responded as I let out a breath.

I stood up and stumbled into the bathroom to take a shower. I had a weird dream, a dream I don’t understand, a dream I can’t remember. The sun shines bright through the window, I turned on the shower and placed my head under it, the chill water splashed on my face as I let out a breath.
"It was just a dream Rachel you have nothing to worry about," I muttered.

Once I took a shower, I wore a striped t-shirt bib mini dress and black flat shoes.
"Bye Alice," I said as I slammed the door shut.

Since the day I started attending this college, life has been horrifying. It’s like I’m stuck in a nightmare that I can’t wake up from. A nightmare I’m still unable to accept, it just doesn’t make any sense. Once I arrived at the lecture hall, I took a sit, and after a minute or two, the lecturer walked into the class.

"Good morning students." He announced

"Good morning sir." We answered in unison

After classes, Amy and I went to the cafeteria to grab lunch.
"Double cheeseburger and one cola," I said to the waitress before I turned around and walked to my chair.

I don’t know why but it feels like I’m lifting weights on my shoulder, it hurts really bad. As I touched my shoulder and massaged it a little bit, it hurts more, it felt like a burn.

"Rachel are you okay?" Amy asked

"Yeah, I’m fine."
I seriously want to tell Amy about this but I can’t, I don’t want her to think I’m losing my mind. And even if I decide to tell her, I have no idea what to say.

"Here is your order." The waitress kept the tray on the table. I took a sip of the cola, it tasted bad, sour, and bitter more like a metallic melted butter.

"What’s wrong? Don’t you like the cola?" Amy asked

"I don’t know, it tastes bad and sour, it’s like...." I paused as I opened the lid. My breath got short and I let out a gasp "Blood, bl_ood" I ramble, I looked at Amy, she was gone, and everywhere turned into a dark shadowy place.
"Amy! Amy!" I screamed
I continuously looked around the environment as my heart was in panic, I felt as if someone was behind me. I couldn’t dare to turn as I began to shiver.

"Amy! Is anyone there?" I stammered. Once I felt a tap on my shoulder I was brought back to reality.

"Here is your order." The same waitress that brought my order earlier walked up and kept the tray on my table. I gaped at her, she did this same thing some minutes ago, why is she doing it again?

"Rachel are you okay?" I heard Amy’s voice "Rachel."

"Uhh!"

"You look tensed, are you okay?" She asked

"Yeah, I’m fine." I sighed. I kept looking at the waitress, this can’t be happening, this same thing happened a while ago.

"Rachel you look like you’ve seen a ghost. Are you sure you are okay?"

"Yeah" I sighed

"But you_"

"I said I’m fine!" I yelled while tapping the table "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that."

"It’s okay."

"You know what! I’m not hungry anymore." I stood up and was about to leave. I gulped when I saw her standing in front of the door, this time she wasn’t staring at me, she was on a call. I panted as I continued to look in her direction

"Rachel, am truly worried, are you okay?" Amy placed a hand on my shoulder.

"She’s there," I muttered
Amy turned around and looked in the direction I was staring "Did she do something to you?" Amy asked

I drafted my eyesight "You can see her?"

"If you’re talking about that girl over there then yes I can."

"Yeah I’m talking about her, are you sure you can see her?" I asked again

"Yes I can, why are you even asking me this question?"

"I don’t know, she creeps me out."

"Stay away from her, I heard she’s bad news," Amy said

I can’t believe this, I always thought that she was in my head, but it looks like she’s not.

"Come let’s go eat." Amy said
I sat back on the chair and continued to look at her, she was acting normal, it was like she changed or something like that, she wasn’t wearing her usual clothing that looks like a rag, instead, she wore a completely different dress.

"Why are you still staring at her?" Amy asked

"I don’t know I just…" I paused
I had no idea what to tell Amy, it felt like a hallucination. One minute she was giving me a death glare and the next she was acting like a normal being.
"Wait a minute, you said she’s bad news, how do you know that?" I asked

"Uhm… I heard it from different students." Amy responded

She sure is bad news, maybe all this while I was just hallucinating, there isn’t anything wrong with me. Maybe it’s just because I’m stressed out, if Amy can see her then I’m not delusional.

"Although her outfit is Monet" Amy said

"Monet! What does that even mean?" I asked

"Monet is like…Uhm…Let me say attractive."

"Attractive?" I questioned

"Yeah, attractive."

Jeez! Just another weird saying of Amy, who uses the word ‘Monet’. I’ve never heard of this word before.
