chapter 33

Sequel of AT 3:15
On May 29th
She knelt on the ground, her hands folded together and eyes closed, causing the tears to drip on her dress. Her head was bowed before the venerated emblem on the church, showing vulnerability and pain. It was early in the morning and the church was closed, she didn’t bother about it as she knows she is safe. The whole night felt like a nightmare to her, she has been waiting for the sun to rise, waiting for the pastor to arrive. The guilt and torture have been eating her up, she has never faced something like that bed. She was dressed like an innocent kind spirit nun, but she looked like a captive of a dark nightmare. Her sob racked through her body as she prays light in this dark world. She clasped her eyes tightly recalling what happened last night. A dark memory that will never escape her.
FLASHBACK
The day they have been waiting for the third Saturday night of the month. They were in the middle of nowhere, the sounds saturate the forest around them, insect buzz, frogs yelp, birds shriek, mammals scuttle, and bats click. Even the trees seem to pulsate with sound, as the din ricochets off the high canopy and cascades back to earth on a tidal wave of noise. Those sounds were more comforting than the sounds they hear at night, the screams and outcries that have made their way to their book of life can’t be forgotten. The weather was starting to change, they knew they have just a few hours left, it is either now or never, they can’t wait for anything, it’s time they end everything.
It was extremely dark but the candles she arranged provided light, the firewoods were arranged at the center as she lit them up, they provided more light. She was dressed like a nun and so are her friends. She sprinkled holy water on everything including the key she was holding. She took some ashes and made a circle with it
"We must stay in the circle, no matter what happens or what we hear, we have to maintain balance and not cross the circle" She declared openly
They nodded in agreement as she checked the time, just two more minutes and the ritual will start.
"Now is the time." She said holding the key on one hand, and the holy water on the other. They clasped each other’s hands tightly as they knelt in the circle with their eyes closed.
Her body trembled when the environment darkened, and a powerful wind blew the flames off the candles. She could feel it’s presence and powers
"It’s here," She declared
She opened her eyes as she dropped the key into the burning fire, it instantly lighted up as the flame darkened,
"Recite the prayers now!" She said
Her friends started praying, she took the rest of the stuff and dropped it into the fire
She fluttered as she shivered when the fire lighted up and became extremely dark, she instantly closed her eyes and continued praying. A strange wind blew almost making her lose balance and fall out of the circle
"They’re coming" she declared before she opened her eyes and was about to sprinkle holy water again when it appeared in front of her. She screamed and was about to step out of the circle when her friend knelt next to her and pulled her back.
Her eyes remained closed as loud noises and screams encircled her, She kept praying until all was quiet. She didn’t feel it’s presence "It was gone" Her inner thought
She slowly opened her eyes when someone tapped her shoulders. She widened her eyes realizing her friends were absent, everywhere was scattered, and the fire had turned out to ash. As she stood up and was about to call out their names, she felt its presence, it stroked her hair before it grabbed it and pulled her out of the circle. Screaming out loud, her body lifted in the air, turning around she noticed the change of weather "We were deceived by the devil"
Her heart was going a mile a minute as she began hyperventilating, she thought it was the end for her, the devil has her captive, as she gently closed her eyes and she said her last prays, a rash clock chime clinked and she fell to the ground.
She was laid there for over twenty minutes, unconscious and unaware of what was going on. Once she jolted awake, she began hyperventilating. Looking around the environment she realized that there isn’t a way to stop the devil.
END OF FLASHBACK
She continued saying her prayers, silent tears rained from her eyes as she unfurl her heart to her lord. A thought wandered in her brain "Why did it let me go? Why didn’t the devil take my soul?" She continuously asked herself.
As she heard footsteps coming in her direction, she flinched. Footsteps remind her of him, the dark evil.
"What’s wrong my child?" She heard a holy voice said
"Father!" She whispered to herself
Opening her teary eyes, she wiped her tears away and slowly stood up.
"What’s wrong my child?" He asked again
"Father, it's here, it took away my friends, it's going to destroy us all." She whined as her back straightened.
"Who are you talking about?"
"I don’t know. I just don’t know?" She whimpered, turning around and looking at the church gate "It’s an evil force, not just any type of evil, it’s a devil with demonic powers, it’s nothing I have seen before, it's in a shape of a creature, a dark shadow, it is worse than a Satan."
"What are you talking about my child?"
Tears rolled down to her chin, she knew she wasn’t making any sense. No one has ever believed her when she told them about it.
"You need to trust me father, I’m not lying."
"It’s okay my child, I know you aren’t lying but can you tell me where this thing is?" He asked
She widened her eyes as her breath got short, she raised her and pointed
"It’s behind you."
