Once my back landed on the floor, I instantly opened my eyes, I looked around in fear, my breath short and sharp, I grabbed my bed base quickly standing up and plopped onto the bed and slowly controlling my breath. Looking at the ground, I realized I was scared of nothing. I buried my face into the pillow, not caring about the time, I quickly drafted to sleep.

Some minute later, I woke up to the ring of my alarm, I was still in bed as the alarm kept blaring some random sound that I don’t remember setting as an alarm tone. Without opening my eyes I reached for the phone which is kept on my side table, without pressing a button or touching it, it went off. I turned around and closed my eyes wanting to go back to sleep when the annoying noise continued. I’m still wondering when and how I set that song as an alarm tone.
"Oh lord," I groaned, reaching to grab the phone. I looked at the phone screen and Amanda’s picture and name flashed across the screen.
"Hello," I said in a drowsy voice

"Hey Rachie, how are you?"

"I’m fine." I grunt as I used my left hand and rub my eyes "Amanda, don’t you know people sleep at this time."

"Sleep! Are you okay? It’s almost noon." She spatted

"What!" I instantly sat up "What did you say?" I asked

There was silence at first before Amanda started laughing "Please tell me you were aware of the time." She paused and continued laughing "I’m gonna freak out right now, who sleeps late at night and then forgot to set an alarm when they know that they have classes." She teased "Oh wait I know who, It’s you." She laughed

I rolled my eyes "Bye." I groaned
"No, no, don’t hang up_," She said before I hung up the call.

I can’t believe I woke up so late today, I stood up and stretched my way into the bathroom. I can’t afford to be late for work today. Not that I need money but what will I tell my grandma when she asks me about my after-school job? I can’t tell her that I got fired in my first week.
Once I took a shower, I wore the first outfit at met with my eyes, I have no time for choices. I wore an orange tie-sleeve denim mini dress and white sneakers. My shoe is a bit dark but I don’t have to clean it up. I grabbed my bag.
"Hey, Alice." I said before she could respond to my greeting I exited the room.

On my way to class, I glimpsed at my watch, ten more minutes, and then the class will be over. I see no reason why I have to attend class anymore, just ten more minutes and besides with the look, the lecturer gave me when I fell asleep in his class, I doubt he will let me in.

Once I arrived at the cafeteria, I dropped my bag on a random chair and then walked toward the staff room, I glanced at Brian "You are late" He whispered audibly enough for me to hear. I said quick sorry before I entered.
I grabbed an apron and wore a hair net, I have no time to think about how perfect my hair is.
Walking out of the room I almost bumped into Brian. Moving aside, he did the same, I moved the other way and he did likewise. I rolled my eyes "After you." I said

"Go handle the counter, there are a lot of customers waiting for their order." He said

"Okay." With that, he moved out of the way and I walked closer to the counter.

I stood by the counter attending to a customer, when I saw a ray of sunlight, fading directly on her. I’m starting to think that am the only one that sees her, why isn’t anyone talking about how creepy the girl is?

"My order please," A faint voice said.

While looking at the girl, I handed over whatever I was holding. I feel like whenever I stare back at her, I lose control of my eyeballs.
Hitting the table, I moved a step backward, I looked down at the angry customer as I gave her a small smile, and she snapped out of it
"I have been talking but it seems like you don’t want to answer me." She yelled

"Ugh!"

"Don’t make that sound at me." She placed a hand on her hip "This isn’t what I ordered." She said

"Ohh! I have no idea, I will prepare your order right away."

"I don’t want it anymore, I’m leaving." She said turning back and walking towards the exit

"Rude!" I mumbled

She turned back and glared at me "I heard that."
I rolled my eyes and continued my work.

After the cafeteria got closed, I entered the kitchen to see all the chefs staring at me, I raised an eyebrow before I turned back and realized that they were staring at the lady behind me. And boy! She looks very upset. I wonder why?
"What took you so long?" She grunted before clearing her throat "I had to take double shifts because of you"

I thought we were over the fact that I came late and talking about shifts, I never told her to do that. "I woke up late today and, I wasn’t exactly late today, if I remember clearly, my work here starts by 4 pm and ends by 6 pm," I spatted

"You said that you will come a lot sooner than that." She said

Oh yeah, I said that, I totally forgot I said that. Wait a minute, how does she know I said that before if I remember clearly I told that to someone else, not her. I was about to talk when Brian walked towards us, he whispered something to her before she turned back and looked at me "Don’t be late again." She pointed before leaving the room.

That lady has issues. I rolled my eyes, turning back I looked at Brian who was smiling "You’re welcome." He said

"Never said thank you but anyways, you said my ass from being feared."

"As I said, you are welcome"

"By the way, what did you tell her?" I asked walking out of the kitchen with him

"Same thing that always works,"

"Which is…" I inquired

"Well, if you want to know." He paused moving a step backward, he eyed me from head to toe. I raised an eyebrow waiting for an answer "You know what! You don’t have to know." He said

I crossed my arms to my chest, and looked back at him "Why not?" I asked

"Well first_" He paused as he was cut off by other employees "I will you later." He said walking away from me.

I grabbed my bag and walked towards the exit.
