Leo hurriedly crawled up to Logan and tried to see his wounds. “No. No. no. No, this isn’t good. What have I done?!” He cried frantically. Logan was gasping for breath and coughing heavily. “I’m… cough cough… fine, Leo… cough.” He said and tried to sit up, but he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen and he groaned.
“No, you’re not. You could be bleeding internally. I’ll go get help.” Leo said and was about to go when Logan held his leg tightly. Blood was seeping from the corner of Logan's mouth. “You do know… that if you step out that door, you could be declared a criminal,” Logan said with a smile. Tears trickled down Leo’s eyes and supported Logan with his arm, “Besides, Dr. Cartel should be on his way here.” he added. Leo was completely clueless, and he hated that he didn’t know how to help Logan.
Logan groaned in pain again, “I do suspect that I’m bleeding internally.” he said. Leo began to shed tears. “Why? Why go this far for me?” He asked as he couldn’t understand why Logan would sacrifice his life to save him. Logan smiled at Leo and held his hand. “Because you’re my best friend… and that’s what friends do, right? They help each other out.” He said. Leo wiped his tears and forced a smile, he rubbed Logan’s back gently, hoping to help the boy ease his pain. Suddenly, Leo remembered something and he thought it could work. Soon, Leo sat in a lotus position, closed his eyes, and began meditating again. He recited his mantra inside and tried his best to calm down.
After about ten minutes, his body began to release flames. The flames were bright orange, and they didn’t burn Leo’s clothes. Logan, who was close to Leo, began to suddenly feel better. He was surprised, and the pain was disappearing, but it was very slow. The flames on Leo’s body weren’t big either, so this was the best he could do for now. Outside the shower room, two huge security guards came and began banging on the door. “Whoever is in there should open this door now!” They warned. They kept banging on the door, but Leo didn’t bother about them. He didn’t bother about getting exposed or anything. All he wanted to was heal his friend. “We will use force to open this door if you don’t open up in ten seconds.” One of the guards threatened and upon not hearing any response, he faced his partner, who nodded and approved of the move. “Ten… nine…. eight… seven…” he began the countdown. Leo was a bit flustered. He knew that the moment they see him using his powers, his life would change and he’ll become a government target. However, thinking of what Logan did for him, he shoved those thoughts behind his head. ‘It’s no use. It’s my responsibility to save whomever I can, whenever I can. This is my principle!’ He thought with determination. He tried to concentrate harder to increase his healing strength. “Five… four… three… two…” the guard was still counting down, and he prepared to ram the door, “… One!” He and his partner were about to slam the door when they were abruptly interrupted by a voice. “WAIT!” the voice was loud, and it attracted lots of attention. Seeing who it was, many people were stunned. “I–Is that… Dr. Cartel.” One of the completely flabbergasted students pointed as if he couldn’t believe his eyes. “It seems to be the case. But what’s he doing here?” Another student replied. The security guards paused and stared at him. Dr. Cartel walked closer to them and looked for an excuse. “You guys don’t need to handle this with force. Let me talk to the boys in there.” He calmly spoke. The two guards looked at each other in confusion before looking back at the doctor. “Wait a sec, how did you know it’s boys who are in there?” Blake asked. Dr. Cartel raised a brow and looked at Blake with an expression that meant, ‘what sort of stupid question is that?’. He didn’t want to say that out loud, so he pointed at the door sign above the door which clearly said ‘boy's shower room’. Seeing his stupidity, Blake felt embarrassed and Ray slapped his back, adding to the embarrassment. Dr. Cartel looked at the gathered students, “Doesn’t anyone here have anything else better to do? Come on, move along. Get back to whatever you should be doing.” He sent the students away, but Ray and Blake remained, “Why are you still here?” He inquired. “Umm… a friend of ours is in there and told us to stay outside to prevent anyone else from entering,” Ray replied. Dr. Cartel smiled. “It’s alright. You can go now.” He instructed, and Blake was dumbfounded. “We’re not leaving until we see our friend come out. We were hearing animal sounds and we wanna know if he’s okay.” Blake refused. Dr. Cartel sighed before turning to the door. “I’m here, Logan. Open up.” Dr. Cartel knocked at the door and spoke. Ray and Blake were stunned. “How did you know who was in there?” Ray inquired. Dr. Cartel spared him a glance and replied. “He called me here.” He said. Ray and Blake were dumbfounded. “Eeeeeeh!” They exclaimed in unison. Shortly after, someone opened the door. It was Leo, and he was happy to see Dr. Cartel. He was about to speak, but when he saw the two security guards, he hesitated and didn’t bother to speak. Dr. Cartel and the two guards walked into the shower room, and they spotted Logan lying down on the floor with blood on the corners of his lips. The second guard looked around and saw some blood on the floor. “What the hell happened here?” He inquired. Leo didn’t bother about him, and he faced Dr. Cartel instead. “What did you do to Logan?” The doctor asked with a whisper. Leo gave a sad look as tears shed from his eyes. Dr. Cartel probably got the gist of it from there, and he examined Logan’s body. Logan was awake and he smiled at the doctor. “Guess that sedative won’t be needed anymore.” He joked. The doctor smiled and he rubbed Logan’s head. “You did well, kid. Let’s get you to my lab. I’ve got people who can attend to you there.” Dr. Cartel said. Logan nodded and Leo tried carrying Logan. The guy could still walk, but not by himself, so Leo lent him a hand and supported him. The guards were still surprised and curious. They stopped the trio from moving further. “Where do you guys think you’re going? You’ve got some explaination to give.” One of them said. Dr. Cartel frowned and looked at him angrily. “Does this boy right here look like he has time for any explanation? He needs medical attention, and that’s what I’m going to provide for him, so we’re headed to a hospital.” He lied. The guards looked at Logan, who seemed like he was one step away from going to the afterlife, and they moved aside for them to pass.
“Go tell your principal that these two boys are coming with me and that they both need medical attention. If their guardians ask, tell the principal to tell them they’re with Dr. Cartel. They’ll naturally understand that way.” He instructed Ray and Blake. Ray and Blake were confused at first. They were a long way from school, and this wasn’t their school. Another thing was that the doctor said both Leo and Logan required medical attention. However, other than Logan who didn’t look so good, Leo was completely fine.
“Umm… this isn’t our school, sir. We just came here to have a basketball practice game.” Ray explained. “In that case, go tell the person responsible for you guys. We’re in a hurry.” He said, and they left the place. Dr. Cartel had his Range Rover waiting outside, and they got in before heading to THRL.
