Although she was sexually aroused, Rebecca couldn't ignore what the man did to her family. She wanted to save them; perhaps they were still alive, but she couldn't move, or else he would kill her like what he did to them. Rebecca let the man use her body as she planned on how to deceive him. The man succumbed to his desires. He let go of the knife to focus on fucking the woman in front of him. He was so focused on her that he didn't notice she was trying to reach the knife on the floor with her free hand. "What are you doing with my wife?" A voice of a man behind him asked. The man was surprised, but before he could reach for his knife, Kwan already held him from the back. Rebecca took the opportunity to pick up the knife and didn't hesitate to stab him. She was so enraged by what he did to her family that she wasn't able to control herself. Rebecca stabbed the man almost ten times while tears streamed down her face. "This is for my child, and this is for my mom!" Rebecca kept stabbing him until he died. "That's enough, Rebecca," Kwan said. "We have no time left. We have to get out of here before the police interfere." "But Kwan, how about my mom and Sharon?" Rebecca asked. "It's too late, Rebecca. They are dead; we only have each other now, so please let's go," Kwan begged her. Kwan dragged her wife outside. Rebecca let go of the knife; her hands wanted to hold her daughter for the last time, but Kwan forced her outside. The alert sounded, so they immediately left the hotel. Soon enough, they reached the city. Kwan acted like nothing happened, but Rebecca kept crying. She couldn't forgive that man for killing her mother and daughter; even if he was already dead, she could kill him again. Soon, they were visible in the news due to the CCTV that caught them escaping the crime, and they had to hide from the world. The police officers suspected them as the criminals who murdered three people. Kwan and Rebecca stopped in the grassland away from the bustling city. The sun was dipping below the horizon, creating a beautiful sunset, offering a short comfort in their fast-paced lives. They were panting, looking at the ground, and holding their knees, exhausted from the long run. "We need a place to hide. Everyone already knows us, and I'm sure they'll reveal our location to the police if they recognize us," Kwan said, breathing heavily. Rebecca shook her head, tears forming in her eyes. "But we have nowhere to go, Kwan. Maybe... maybe we should just surrender to the authorities and explain everything. The truth will come out. I’m ready to face the punishment for what I’ve done." "Don’t say that, Rebecca. You didn’t kill him out of malice—you only defended yourself. That man... he deserved to die after what he did to your mother and our daughter. He ruined everything, but you... you did what anyone would’ve done. I’m not letting you take the blame alone," Kwan said. "Thanks, Kwan. I know you'd say that. You're the only person I have now, so please don't leave me. I don't want to be alone in this world," Rebecca replied, hugging her husband. "I will never leave you, Rebecca. I promise," Kwan said, touching Rebecca's back, giving her a small comfort from all the disasters that happened in her life. Rebecca let go of her husband and said, "But, Kwan... I can’t drag you down with me. I have to face the consequences of what I’ve done. It’s the only way I’ll ever find peace." "Are you sure about that, Rebecca?" Kwan asked again. Although he cared for his wife, he still didn't have the right to control her decisions. "I've made up my mind, Kwan. It's better to be put in jail than run away and involve you when you have nothing to do with this," Rebecca replied. "Please don't say that, Rebecca. We both did it. You couldn't kill that man if I didn't help you, so we must be put in jail together. I'll go wherever you will go," Kwan said. "But Kwan, there's yet a wonderful life waiting for you out there. Please don't waste it on me," Rebecca requested. "You are my life, Rebecca, and the world means nothing to me without you, so please don't drive me away. We're in this together till my last breath," Kwan replied. Rebecca’s lips quivered as tears spilled down her cheeks. She turned away, unable to look at him. "You’re too good to me, Kwan. But some roads... Some roads you have to walk alone." For a moment, there was silence except for the distant rustling of wind in the grass. Rebecca’s eyes drifted to the precipice ahead, its jagged edge illuminated by the faint glow of moonlight. It was calling her name, telling her to come near. Kwan noticed the faraway look in his wife's eyes. He watched Rebecca walk towards the cliff, thinking that perhaps she just needed some air and quiet moments to think, but she didn't stop. His heart seized with panic. "Rebecca? What are you doing?" Rebecca didn’t answer but instead walked quickly, as if she had already lost her mind. Her arms were hanging limply at her sides as though she’d already surrendered to the void. The wind howled, and she couldn't hear Kwan's voice. "Rebecca, stop! Don’t do that!" Kwan shouted, his voice cracking with desperation as he sprinted to save her, but it was too late. Rebecca didn’t stop until she reached the edge, and without hesitation, she leapt into the abyss, leaving all her problems and frustration behind. "REBECCA!" Kwan screamed, his voice tearing through the air. He stopped on the edge, looked down and saw his wife's body laying motionless on the rocks below, a crimson pool spreading beneath her. "No..." Kwan whispered, his voice hollow. Tears streamed down his face as he clenched his fists. "No, Rebecca. You can’t leave me like this." In that moment, nothing else mattered to him; he lost everything. Kwan stepped closer to the edge, fulfilling his promise to go wherever she'd go.
