Chapter 31
Eleanor groaned lightly under her breath as she climbed up the long flight of stairs.
Today had really been a bad day for her.
She had woken up this morning only to be clouded with thoughts of the prince. The kiss. It was all in her mind, all she could ever think of.
She wasn't even able to get a good night's sleep because of that.
What has the prince done to her?
Eleanor groaned and used her palm to slap her forehead trying to get rid of the thought.
She can't have herself thinking about him again.
She let out a heavy sign as she walked into the hallway leading to his room.
gods! How is she going to face him now?
Eleanor clenched her fist together as nervousness crept up her body.
Arriving at the door, she took a deep breath and knocked. After hearing a faint deep voice reply "come in", she pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Walking fully into the room, she spotted the prince standing by the table putting on some jewelleries dressed up like he was going for an occasion.
How does he have so many jewelleries like a woman?
Eleanor's breath hitched in her throat when he turned to stare at her.
"Good.. good evening master." She quickly bowed her head to avoid his gaze. She planted her gaze on her feet staring at it like it's the most interesting thing in the world right now.
The Prince turned fully to her after wearing his jewelry.
Eleanor shifted from one foot to another as tension filled the air.
Ugh! She has to do something, she has to clarify this.
"Ehh.. so..." She began, scratching her neck nervously.
Luciano stared at her with his brows furrowed in confusion.
"About... Yesterday..." She drawled glancing up at him.
"Yesterday?" The Prince quirked an eyebrow at her.
"Yeah... Ermm..."
"What about it?"
Ugh! Is he going to pretend like he doesn't know what she's trying to talk about?
"Uh..ermm...the kiss.." She said softly under her breath like she doesn't want him to hear.
"What about it?"
Eleanor closed her eyes and took a deep breath before speaking. "It was a mistake." She raised her head to stare up at him while he stared back at her with his face expressionless.
"It was a mistake right?"
Luciano stared deeply at her like he was trying to study her before asking. "Mistake? What do you mean?"
"Huh, I mean the kiss was a mistake and it is never bound to happen again, never again. It shouldn't have happened in the first place. It was definitely a mistake, yes! Definitely a mistake." Eleanor rushed her words waving her hands in the air frantically.
Luciano quirked his brows at her before speaking. "Well, if you say so." He looked so unperturbed while she was the one freaking out here just because of the kiss.
Eleanor squeezed her hands together as she tried to calm her breath, her heart has been racing fast ever since she brought up the topic about the kiss.
He moved around the room, grabbed his sword and slide it into the sheath around his waist. He moved close to her, standing right in front of her with just a few inches separating them.
Eleanor's breath hitched in her throat as he leaned down close to her. Her heart pounded faster, her eyes fluttered, threatening to close as his eyes went to her lips which were slightly parted.
*Is he going to kiss me*
Eleanor fought to keep her eyes open as his cologne filled her nostrils, messing with her senses.
Dear gods, is he going to kiss-
"I'd be going for a walk and you'd accompany me." He leaned back and moved away from her. "Follow me." He ordered and walked out of the room.
Eleanor placed her hand on her chest as she tried to calm her breaths.
Was she just thinking he was going to kiss her?
Dear gods, what the hell has gone wrong with her?
She shook her head and scurried out of the room to follow the prince.
Eleanor kept her head down as they walked out of the palace, she tried as much as possible to avoid the stares people were giving her.
Why can't they just get used to the fact that she has been serving the prince for a long time? What's still with the weird stares they give her?
Eleanor felt her insecurities approaching as he walked down the pathway leading to the bush.
What if he wants to kill her?
Eleanor mentally laughed at her silly thought. If he wanted to kill her, he'd have done it in the castle, not like anyone's gonna arrest him.
As they walked into the bush, the chirping of birds and the fresh scent of nature filled the air.
Eleanor smiled warmly as she stared up at the sky that was covered with tall trees and leaves forming a big shade. She can't remember the last time she was this close to nature.
The river breeze blew lightly caressing her skin softly as they approached the river.
The Prince sat on a huge rock facing the river before turning to her. "Find some place to sit."
Eleanor walked to a small rock some meters away from the prince and sat on it, heaving out a sign of relief.
After staring at the water for a few minutes, Eleanor turned to stare at the prince who was staring intently at the water. His brown eyes shimmering brightly as he focused on the water. Her eyes went to his lips set in a straight line.
Eleanor admitted to herself that he sure is one very fine man that all maidens would be dying to be with, if not for his cold attitude.
He has a very great physique, muscular, tall-
Eleanor shook her head to shut out all thoughts about him. She's not supposed to be thinking about him. She is already determined to stay away from him to make her life a little peaceful here in Cordenia.
She can't admired him, not a slave like her. She's just one wretched maiden who doesn't have the slightest idea of how her future is going to be.
He won't even look at her, there's nothing to admire in her. Her hair's all messy and her clothes are nothing to write about, they're just rags.
She's sure the kiss yesterday was a big mistake. He would never want to try it again with somebody like her, never again. He would sure be regretting it, when there's royalty like Sabrina. She's so sophisticated, walks majestically, her dresses are elegant, her hair is well dressed and she's so beautiful.
She speaks so graciously.
She'd definitely be no match for her.
Why? Cause she's just one neglected futureless slave. Eleanor signed sadly, raising her head to glance at the prince when she caught him staring intently at her.
Eleanor's breath hitched as her eyes met his, staring back at him.
Eleanor stared deep into his eyes as she tried to understand the look he was giving her. It was like he was trying to understand her, there was something like affection in his eyes, he was staring like he wanted to look deep into her soul and there was something else she couldn't decipher.
Eleanor could only stare back at him, all her thoughts disappeared, her determination to stay away all vanished into thin air. With a new hope in her, her subconsciousness dances in delight.
Suddenly a thought flashed in her head.
"Is he going to kiss me again?"

Rage built within her, Sabrina fist held tightly to the railings as anger fuelled her.
"How dare that wretched slave?"
She has been standing in the balcony when she sighted the prince and the slave walk out of the castle.
"Why won't that slave learn her lesson? Can't she just realise the prince is for her and her alone?"
She's playing with fire and that fire is going to burn her real hard.
Sabrina stared angrily at the gate where they had passed with a new determination in her.Download Novelah App
