Chapter 19

As they were going they saw a young beautiful brunette, however, not more than two years younger than Dina and Sonia. She was beautiful but not as Dina, with long shaggy hair. She dressed like those savages, covering her breasts, private parts and her upper thighs, but she looked gentle and quite odd. She didn’t run from them or make any alarming sound. She stared at them emotionlessly. They too stared at her befuddled.
“She looks different” Nazi said.
Dina stepped forward and gestured to her explaining that they need food. She hesitated with a steady look on her face as if to find trust before she beckoned them to follow her. She took them to a place and showed them a barn. It was constructed on tall trees. The girl refused to go further with them because she was scared. She told them to be careful as they go. But all the communication was done with just gestures.
Rickie would have matched the task of climbing if he wasn’t too weak. Nazi and Zack climbed while Mata and Bond waited on the ground to catch them. Dylan stayed with the girls to keep watch. They were savages there sleeping so in order not to ruin their plans they had to work quietly. They threw down fruits, meats and fishes. As the foodstuffs were landing, those reaching the ground were making sounds so it was disturbing the sleeping watchmen.
“It is okay. Come down” Mata kept repeating but it seems Nazi wanted to bring everything down. Not long one woke up and saw them. He quickly woke the other three. Immediately they took their weapon which are all made of sticks and started coming towards them.
Bond and Mata did not run because if they do they will leave those on the tree to be tortured. So they dropped what they have gathered and waited for the savages. At first it was four against two. When Dylan saw the fight he rushed to help but before he could reach Nazi and Zack had knocked two down from the tree. Bond wasn’t skillful but his weight did more exploit.
They took on their heels immediately their opponents were down. As they were hurrying away they did not know that there was a very steep slope ahead of them. They all fell in and slid off hitting on trees and stones. Bond hit on a dried tree that almost killed the rest of them if not that other trees were close to hold it.
When they all reached the leveled area. They were all in pain. They all had injuries. They couldn’t rise let alone to go on with the escape. They rested there and ate, probably forgetting that they were running from something.
Shortly after they noticed the savage girl coming down the slope. They looked at her again in bewilderment. Now the question was, what was she coming for? As she got close she stood staring at them innocently like a child about to be left by its mother.
“What?” Sonia asked gently using her hands to make it more understandable.
“I want to follow you?”
“She can speak English” They were marveled.
“How would you think of leaving your people to follow us?” Dylan asked amazed.
“They are not my people. We were captives too”
“You?” Dylan asked “You and who?”
“My mother”
“How did you get here?”
“Our voyage ended up here”
“How? Can you tell us?”
“Our ship wrecked and we were among the survivors. This was were our rescue brought us because the distance was much for a boat like that, and we might end up in the middle of the sea, so locating the land was the best alternative. We came here waiting for when we will get help not knowing that it was going to become our permanent home”
“She speaks very well” Nazi said. “What about your father?”
“He didn’t come with us. He ensured we leave the ship safely, and that was the last time I saw him”
“How long now?”
“Maybe nine or ten. We don’t have calendars here. But I was five when we got here”
“So what about your mother?”
“She died of unknown illness three years back”
“Oh God! So sorry!” They consoled one after another.
“So where do you have to go when you are out of here?”
“Anywhere will surely be better than this hell”
Before they could ask further questions they sighted the savages standing up the hill. Now it was as if they summoned all their armies. They had fiercely looking dogs.
“Here they are. Let’s go!”
They got up, took their belongings and began to run. The new friend followed them without being asked to.
