Dylan, his three brothers and Emily went same way. They met their mother on the sick bed. She was broken down by fever. Neighbors said their absence caused her illness. They quickly thought of what to do to restore her health.
“I will rush down to Dina's house and get a drop of the vaccine” Rickie implored.
“Do you know where she live?”
“Yes. She told me”
“Are you sure she’s going home straight?”
“She said she will. Besides everyone missed home and that’s where everyone’s mind is”
“Ok. Go fast, but don’t let anything seize you”
Rickie understood what his brothers meant of that statement, for they know that both of them were in love and probably understands what it means to be in love. He smiled and assured them he will be back as soon as possible.
Shortly after, he returned with Dina. They returned earlier than it was anticipated. They gave their mother the vaccine and it worked as usual. Their mother recovered and was healthier than ever before.
“I have known your place” Dina said behind Rickie grinning. Rickie was sitting on the rails taking views of the vicinity. Nothing have changed in the homestead. Only that leaves had nobody to gather or stop them. The colorful trees and flowers remained fresh and bright. Dina walked towards him from behind and tickled him and both laughed at Rickie’s unexpected jerk then she hugged him.
“How about your leg? Can I see it?” Rickie demanded turning. She lifted her leg to show him. The healing improved more.
“That vaccine works on anything” Rickie confirmed.
“So I see, just four days”
“Do you still feel pain?”
“Yes, but little”
Mata was with Emily, strolling within the neighborhood while Dylan was in the house with their mother discussing about their days on the sea and in the wilderness.
“You have not asked me about Jennie since you returned” Dylan’s mother asked Dylan after some hours of her recovery but he did not answer her. His countenance shows he doesn’t want to talk about her.
“Do you know how much she loves you? She took risk because of you” This statement drew back curiosity.
“What risk?” turning his gaze from the snacks in front. They were both sitting on the same wooden couch.
“The day you all left fishing she came here….”
“Was that the risk? Mom remember she made me desperate for riches, she’s is the reason I travelled to a place I don’t know and got lost. We are just lucky. I’m sure your prayers saved us”
“Hear me out first. She ran out of the house after she left here because if she continue living with her family they will force her to marry the so call suitor they betrothed her to. Don’t tell me she did all this in vain. And let me remind you, she did not make you do anything. Her parents did and the same parent made her leave the house. She did that because of the love she has for you. Don’t disappoint her”
He became calm as his mother continue giving him reasons to take her back.
“I know you still love her. And I am sure you can’t bear the pain you will put yourself through by trying to forget her”
“Mother I love her but I can’t have her. I sought for money which I didn’t get. Without money I can’t marry her and you know that. If I go back to her we will be running from his father with no rest or peace. There will be no blessings or support from them. We will suffer and it will make you suffer heart disease too”
“We are both in it. Don’t worry I will think of something. I like her, Dylan. She’s different”
“Do you know where she is?”
“She told only me. Though it’s far but….”
“We will find her”
They heard Zack’s voice outside talking hastily like one who’s raced. Dylan went outside to know what brought him. Rickie, Nazi, Zack and Dylan turned with excited faces.
“Dylan we are rich!” Rickie shouted. Dylan could not comprehend what he was talking about. He gave him a questioning look.
“Zack said his uncle, the traveler said that the coins we brought home are not ancient money as we thought. That each of the coin can make us rich” Nazi excitedly.
