Morning didn’t take long to come. Maybe it was at midnight they broke the stone at the exit. For if it was, the night would have lasted longer.
Outside the cave was a river. And a fresh green environment. They saw birds and monkeys on trees, they saw butterflies and dragonflies on plants. Everything out there looked splendid and new.
Now they had to go down for the exit of the cave was about thirteen feet high. They needed rope to slide down and luckily Dylan carried a row of rope from the stall. They tied it somewhere in the cave and got down. They took the light, the remaining vaccine and the weapons.
Rickie sat on the raised stones sharpening his swords, Mata went testing his bow and arrows by aiming and shooting. Zack and Dylan went fishing, Nazi and Bond strolled looking for fruits while the girls sat in the shade behind Rickie chatting and also examining the treasures they had. They wished to swim but the fear from the last experience wouldn’t allow them go.
Shortly Nazi and Bond returned calling them from the woods. By then Zack and Dylan were already roasting the fishes and crabs they caught.
“I am going nowhere till I finish eating this delicious fish” Dylan said.
That was when Bond noticed what was happening down the river. He rushed down with Rickie to join them.
“We saw a cultivated farmland” Nazi announced.
“A farmland? Where?” The boys asked.
“Further into the woods”
“Did you see signs of anyone?”
“I saw two children playing in it” Bond reported.
“Will that not be those savages?” The girls asked.
“I don’t know”
“See I wouldn’t want to bump into those cruel demons again” Zack warned.
“We will take the opposite direction while leaving” They decided.
But before they could finish they saw those humans Bond called children watching them from the reef.
“Are those things really kids?” Dylan asked squinting to see them well. “They look too rough and tough to be called children”
“Why are they staring at us like that?” Sonia asked.
“Let’s get them here” Mata suggested.
“No. Things you are not sure if they are humans. We have suffered enough. Let’s not cause more for ourselves”
“What do you think those ugly things can do to us? I will use them for steaks” Mata said said swaying one of the swords in the air to show how he was going to do it.
“Don’t they have parents? Their parents will come against us” Zack enlightened.
“They will face the same fate then” Nazi said confidently.
“Oh my God! I thought this guy was with us from the beginning of this journey. He would have learnt something by now if he was” Zack said.
“They are not kids. They are dwarfs” Emily was quiet ever since exposed.
“Dwarfs? No wonder! They look rougher than kids just as Dylan said. But does dwarfs and giants really exist?” Zack asked.
“Here you are seeing some” As Dina turned she didn’t see them again. She didn’t know the direction they took.
“I thought they are imaginary creatures in fairly tales”
“They exist but rare. I know they live among normal humans and not separate”
“They are gone” Dina alerted.
“I need to be sure of what I am seeing. Let’s find them”
They stood and followed the direction those dwarfs disappeared into. They crossed a natural bridge. It was a big tree lying across the stream. They walked and Walked and eventually arrived at a hill where they could sight a place that looks like a village. Indeed those were dwarfs. Their heights were as though it was selected or measured. None was more than two feet tall. Their shelters too were built just in proportion to their size.
“Let’s enter their village. They dare not misbehave” Mata said.
“I’m beginning to accept the fact that the vaccine has a negative effect on you” Zack said.
“Yes” Bond affirmed.
“You notice it too?”
“I mean, yes to what Mata said” The rest turned to Bond for reasons.
“I don’t understand”
“If we go there, I’m sure they will be scared and marveled of our seize so therefore they will not attack us. And to get them to favor us we must be good to them. We will help them in any way possible”
“So?”
