CHAPTER FIFTEEN: Lucia's secret fear

LUCIA'S POV
I sat on the sofa in the living room with legs crossed, and eyes on my laptop on the table. The girls were with me.
I was watching DSD party video, the one they did at the juvenile's garden.
I grimaced as I watched them did their thing, particularly staring at Saline thinking of getting a revenge on her earlier misbehavior.
How dare she humiliate, disobey and insult me in my own school?
Yes! I'm the only child of my father so literally speaking, I'm the successor to all his wealth when he's no more. I have every right to command and demonstrate authority on all his properties.
I watched them smiled at their fans. How dare they look down on me?
I'm Luciana Caden daughter of the eighth most successful business man in America, Queen and heiress of Royal Empire University. So how dare they? How dare Diva make me seem inferior? I gritted angrily.
They've gotta pay for this. Now how do I get them to suffer? They also aren't ordinary people you can trash on and go free. They aren't the common scholarship students you can easily get rid of.
No! They are extremely powerful in every aspect, ways more than me. Especially Danielle, she freaks me out each time she look at me.
I clenched my fist angrily. How am I supposed to deal with a girl like her, whose glare can make you pee on your pants.
The crowd was cheering and squealing for them as they began dancing.
They were loved by all, they pull crowds wherever they go, they are one of America's top dancing crew, they are impossible to break.
I stared at Saline for a while, if she had stood up quietly when I asked her to, Danielle wouldn't have been involved. But of course, she's also tough and stubborn not that tough but knowing she's got Danielle she's acting up strong.
There's no way I can touch her without getting into trouble with Danielle. But still, I must figure a way of dealing with them, my dad owning this campus isn't just for nothing.
I Luciana Caden will surely make them pay. I smirked smugly.
"Figured out how to deal with them?" Katie asked looking at me.
"Not exactly but I will definitely find out soon."
"Hmm, tell us Lu why do you seem so scared of Danielle?" Penny plainly asked, leaning her chin on an arm.
Did she have to ask about that, reminding me my fear for her didn't just start overnight.
"I'm not scared of Danielle." I deadpanned.
I refuse to admit to that.
Penny and Katie exchanged looks.
"Lucia, we've been your best friends since you returned nine years ago from your aunt's at Los Angeles. We know you more than you think and even though I hate to admit it, it's true you are scared of Danielle.
I know something must have happened for you to be this powerless when it comes to her and that's why you have to tell us so we can help you," Katie preached.
They were driving at something and I'm not gonna let them have it.
I can't tell them what happened with Danielle nine years ago at Lionel's High School.
It's too embarrassing.
FLASHBACK
NINE YEARS AGO. LIONEL'S HIGH SCHOOL.
I hopped along the hallway laughing with Elena my childhood friend. She's the daughter of my aunt's neighbors 'The Woods' and like me she's twelve years old.
We had just finished doing what we loved best, pranking a classmate that offended us by putting a life frog in her locker when everyone went out for break.
Of course we did it carefully to avoid any traces back to us. The unaware girl had returned after break time to pick a book from her locker only to be startled by the presence of the frog. She had screamed out in fright, Elena and I had seen what happened from our hideout and ran away laughing and celebrating our success.
We high-fived as we hopped along, but stopped when we heard little whimpering cries at a corner in the hallway.
Looking at each other mischievously, we walked towards the direction of the voice. We love bullying helpless and timid kids. It's kinda our hobby.
Reaching there, we saw three girls sitting on a pavement, two whites and a black. The black girl was crying convulsively as her friends try to console her.
Recognizing them, I walked closer with Elena at my tail.
They weren't in our class but in another one although we were in the same grade. They were quiet girls who minded their businesses in school although they were classy, as their parents were super wealthy.
I Know a lot about them especially the black girl Danielle. Her parents industries were among the top five richest and most successful business industries in America. I also know her mom was pregnant but lost her baby after birthing her today. I know a lot of things, probably because I envy her and her friends.
My dad is also affluent but he isn't among the top five richest business men like her's were.
Since I turned eight I've been living with my mom's younger sister Aunt Linda, my mom died when I was three.  My dad's doing well but he's in Sacramento. I will return back to Sacramento after I've completed my middle school, though I'm in my final year already.
I've always wanted to bully her thinking she's timid. She doesn't really talk to people except her friends. And here goes an opportunity, why not take it?
Her friends looked up as we approached.
"What are you doing here?" Rosy asked as she looked at me. Must have heard about me.
"Well, well...I came to check on the crying baby," I scorned as Elena and I laughed.
"You'd better back off," Saline scoffed eyeing me with disgust.
I ignored them and crouched down to their size directly facing Danielle, who was still weeping.
"Aren't you ashamed of yourself Danielle? A thirteen year old girl weeping so convulsively like she's the one who lost her baby. I bet even your mother who carried and birthed the dead child wouldn't be weeping as...."
The words flying out of my mouth was interrupted when a resounding slap came in contact with my chin, and with the speed of light I saw myself being pinned tightly against a wall.
I don't even know how it happened so fast. I couldn't see Elena again.
I looked fearfully at her as she glared venomously at me.
Her once teary grey eyes shone with so much anger as she intently glared at me. I've never seen a teenager this angry.
I gulped, seriously terrified.
"Never in your miserable life, I repeat Never in your life should you dare talk about me or my family in that manner. Your dumb brain should tell you I'm not your mate, neither are we on the same level. Don't ever try it again, you won't be this lucky..." She released her grip on me. I was already shedding tears. Her eyes looked scary.
"Now get lost and never meddle in my affairs or anything relating to me again. Never! Is that understood?" She warned. I nodded tearily and ran off. I heard her friends laughed.
BACK TO PRESENT
That was the most terrifying and humiliating day of my life. And throughout the rest of the term in Lionel's High School, I avoided her like a plaque.
I broke off friendship with Elena. Which true friend abandons her best friend in trouble? I was quiet throughout the rest of my stay in the school to the extent many were surprised.
Immediately the term came to an end, I had dad pick me up from my aunt's and made my return earlier than expected.
Since then, never did I returned, even when aunt Linda fell sick I refused going to see her because of fear of encountering Danielle again. Only for them to show up last year at my dad's University.
I met Penny and Katie at 'Caden's High.' Yeah! My dad's high school and since then we've been best of friends.
I can't let them know about that humiliating incident.
No matter what! Even thinking about it gives me goosebumps.
I looked up at them.
"Welcome back to Earth Queen Lucia," Penny hummed.
I chuckled.
"I'm sorry guys, I can't tell you about it." I said apologetically.
They can't know about that incident.
Their video was over and another one was playing. The weekend video they always do.
Don't blame me! Since they came here I've been following up carefully on all their videos.
Not like I'm a fan, Duhh...  I'm just tryna know what they are always up to.
When you have lions amongst sheeps, you never know what may happen. At such, the sheeps ought to prepare in case they need to run.
Besides I haven't forgiven Danielle yet and still, they have the guts to humiliate me In my school. I'm definitely gonna make them pay. But first I need to figure out their weaknesses and then use it against them. So far I haven't found any.
"So much for friendship," Katie huffed grumblingly.
"Look girls. I'm sorry but whatever happened between me and Danielle happened in the past and this is the present. I would like to focus on dealing with them for humiliating me. Revenge, that's all there's to it." I explained wearily.
I hate apologizing but I do so to my friends and dad few times. It sucks.
"Whatever," Penny said as she stood up.
"Hey Penny don't be like th..." My ringing phone interrupted me.
Wayne!
I pick up.
"Tell me," I said.
"The guys would be heading to the music Hall in an hour." He said.
"Good," I said "find out more." I hung up.
I smiled at my friends.
"Why don't we lighten the mood girls by going to see the boys. It's not like we are busy or anything," I said sweetly.
"Definitely in." Katie agreed.
I looked at Penny pleadingly, she's sometimes difficult to please.
"Fine!" She finally said "But the last time we went to the guys, I tried talking to Roe but he snubbed me." She complained.
"Nothing comes easy Penny. You've gotta keep trying," Katie advised as she stood up.
"Now that's the spirit" I smiled, picked up my laptop and stood up too.
They chuckled as we walked out of the living room and up the stairs to my room.
For now I'm gonna let them be until I find that secret weapon I can use against them, their weaknesses especially Danielle's.
But until then DSD, wait for me.
I smirked.
