Chapter 34 Tested

Nathan
I can safely say that my life is complete. I can’t get over the expressions of all our friends when we gave them their homes. I sit in the lounge and watch the media going frenzy over me giving out over five hundred mansions for free. The following day, Brian arrives with Paul. Their mansions are on the right side of ours. The other side is Mrs Gail and Isaac .
To my irritation, they are all smitten by my wife. Paul is the worst, he is always around my wife. Amari hates gossip and all but she’s different with Paul. She has become the sister he never had.
“Now, young man, what should happen for you to look like how God created you?” my wife asks Paul while I shake my head at her. Paul has tattoos covering most of his body and over twenty gold teeth. Add his tall muscular body, he really looks scary when you don’t know him, but he is the gentlest of souls.
“I will get rid of it, Ma’am,” Paul says while I look at him in disbelief.
“What?” he asks when he sees my expression. “I don’t have to look scary anymore. I have a family now,” he adds and it dawns on me that he has always tried to fit in when he didn’t belong.
  “Yes, you do,” Amari affirms.
True to his word, Paul returns the following day looking like a completely different person. I can’t help but laugh at the looks the youth are giving him. Dude looks really cool. Not only that, the car industry is literally begging him to work for them after he solved my case. Add all the money I paid him for solving my case and the mansion, Paul is one of the country’s illegible bachelors now.
It’s a week later when I conclude the legal paper work on my businesses and call Brian in.
“Brian, you have been faithful and closer to me more than a brother. You stood by me when everyone else deserted me. Thank you, man,” I tell him with my heart full. I don’t think I will ever forget what he and my wife did for me.
I hand him the document I had my lawyer work on. “You don’t work for me anymore, Brian. These are yours.”
He frantically shakes his head. “I can’t not work for you, Sir. I am not a businessman. What am I going to do with these?”
“Cut the Sir, mate. You do realise that you have been running my businesses all along, right?”
He frowns before a grin forms on his face. “I was…. I was,” he mumbles to himself before shouting out loud, “I am not a useless dunderhead. I am a businessman. Eat your heart out Lucinda!”
I can’t help but laugh. Lucinda was his mean stepmother who abused him when his father passed.
“Eat your heart out, Lucinda!” I shout with him before embracing him. “Thank you, Brian.”
We attend the church service a few days later and find the church packed.
“Are we having a special service?” I ask my wife who laughs.
“I think they are here for you.”
I frown at her before I notice that all the new faces are women. The skimpy clothes they are wearing would make you swear that they are here for some beauty contest not church.
“Brother and Sister Lord, we are sitting on the choir benches today,” Leah tells us and we follow her. She proceeds to tell us that our visitors have bee here since early morning. Someone must have told them where I like to sit because they have been fighting to sit there.
“I know that we usually sing and go to our own benches within the church, but it is packed today and we are not letting you sit near those girls,” she tell me while my wife keeps a straight face. Church is one of those places she enjoys attending, this is going to get to her. It is worse when the choir sing and all the cameras come out. Maybe we should not have chosen the song I do a solo in. The church is so noisy, all our members look really irritated. As if that is not bad enough, Ella shows up and the whores start fighting and cursing each other right during the service. It is complete chaos when Mrs Gail intervenes and starts beating our guests with her stick.
“Shameless Jezebels! You come to the house of the Lord to cause chaos? I am going to teach you a lesson!”
“We have a problem,” Isaac says as we meet with his parents.
I let out a sigh, unable to ignore the fact that this is a complication I bring.
“Mrs Gail might have chased them away, but we can’t really chase people away from God’s house,” Father Samson says while his wife nods.
“We are going to open up the west wing, hopefully that should accommodate all our guests,” the Sheperdess says but I doubt that will be the solution.
“It was not only the space, Father, but the behaviour,” I remind them. Those women were not here for church and their behaviour showed. They made noise, took selfies and even fought during the service.
“Don’t let this get to you, Brother Lord. A man will always be tested. This is your test you must pray about. The Lord will provide the answers,” the priest encourages. We return home exhausted and dejected.
“I guess we can’t attend church anymore,” my wife says as I massage her feet. She also does not think the space is a problem.
  “I am sorry, I…”
“This is not your fault, Nathan. I am just wondering where I am going to hide my hot husband.”
I can’t help but laugh at that before an idea hits me.
“My wife is a genius!” I beam while she narrows her eyes at me.
“I won’t be coming to church anymore, my gorgeous wife. You are going to attend with your grandfather from now on,” I tell her.
“I don’t have a grandfather,” she points out while I flash her a smile.
“You do now,” I say and she gets it.
“Just don’t fall for an old man,” I tease while she rolls her eyes. I guess I need an old man’s costume.
