The two of them successfully went outside without any disturbance. They were asked thrice by professors where they were going at that time of the night but they all seemed to lose their interest when Koiren started to talk to them.
Kayne admits to himself that Koiren's attitude and physical appearance is indeed bewitching. His white pallor and peculiar hair color adds more to that "bewitching" effect.
"You just thought that I am beautiful, right?" Koiren asked, looking back at Kayne who's silently following his lead.
"Who talks about themselves like that?" Kayne said coldly.
"Scary."
Koiren brought them into an underground place. It is full of different people ranging from thugs to aristocrats like them and all of them are drunk into pleasure. Women are stripping off most of their clothes, a kind of pill is being distributed and the smell of alcohol reeks from every corner.
Koiren walked towards the bar counter and ordered something. "Two unlucky bastards, please."
The waitress laughed them off and said, "That's a very hard drink for you, schoolboys."
As an answer he ran his finger on the waitress' neck and hissed with a death glare. "Do we look like we're on a field trip, Miss Libertine?"
She can't breathe because of the pressure that's applied by him. However, Koiren looked like he's enjoying tormenting the woman.
Kayne held Koiren's hand and in an instant, his effects were broken. "That's enough."
Koiren threw a death glare to Kayne but he did not care at his rally against him.
They were led into a secret passage and from there, the noise gradually changed from obscene hummings to loud cheers.
There is a large cage where two are fighting their best. Despite having a massive blood loss from both of the participants, the fight continues.
"It is a death match," Koiren said in a low voice. "The participants stake something, be it money or items with high value. The arena would collect these items and the participants would take turns to defeat the current "Item guard" or should I say, the current champion. Once defeated, they will become the next guard for the next round. At the end of the day, those who remained as the guard can collect 80% of the stakes."
"I see. So, when is your turn?" Kayne asked.
"Who said that I am going to fight?" Koiren asked back.
"But you brought us here." Kayne rebutted.
"I'm just a tour guide. You, fight." Koiren insisted as he dragged Kayne to the registration area.
"We're not on a field trip, moron."
"Good evening, gentlemen."
The people at the registration area looked at Koiren who's keeping Kayne firm on his hand.
"I am Venom and this is my friend, Fenriz." He said with a warm smile, introducing Kayne and himself. "While I am a businessman, this young lad is a wild one. And guess what, he wants to join the fight!"
"Shut up, kid. Who are you fooling around!" A bulky man with a scar on his face shouted at them. Judging by his looks, he's a neo that specializes in close range combat.
"No, my man!" Koiren contended. "Here, I present to you is a walking treasure box." He pulled Kayne in front of him and presented him to the onlookers. "See these earrings? These earrings protect its wearer from any magical debuff without letting the wearer expend even an ounce of mana. And this one, it's partner is the gate key! The legendary gate key that can open any doors, traps, gates and even dimensions."
"Whoa!"
The people who are watching how Koiren sells Kayne became thick and the registration area became crowded with these enamored people.
"But there's more..."
Hearing that, the crowd cheered and loud whoas can be heard on their side rather than on the battlefield.
"He's the son of our mightiest neo, Rigel Regulus."
The crowd fell silent. He's the son of that powerful Rigel. How can they beat him?
"But fret not because he's been restricted by his father! Hahaha" Koiren laughed loudly. "He can't use mana nor invoke the simplest form of spells. Beat him and chop him!"
"Whoa!" Once more, the crowd's energy rose to its peak.
"Drain his blood, take his organ, study him!" Koiren added fuel to their fire.
"Whoa..."
"I stake the life of Fenriz Regulus!"
His last line left the crowd overjoyed that made them rush the current brawl. The organizers agreed on their participation in a condition that Kayne must not wear his anti-debuff earrings.
Koiren who is overjoyed of the plan's success grins widely on the poor souls that would be devoured by Kayne. Though he's not sure about it, he knows that Kayne's constitution is more preposterous than his.
"Here." Kayne dropped his earrings on Koiren's lap and threw a death sentence to him. "Lose it, I'll kill you. Break it, I'll kill you. Scratch it, I'll kill you."
"Stop! I know. I know." He picked the earrings and held them as gently as possible. If there's a reason for him to be afraid, that is he does not gauge Kayne's level of patience.
Kayne entered the cage. It is well built with a thick barrier that disperses the effects of spells and physical attack. The crowd held their breath as Kayne took out his dagger. Then broke into laughter when they realized that it's the beginner's weapon issued by the academy.
There's no way that he can inflict major wounds using that kind of dagger that could break anytime against specialized weapons.
But these were silenced when the sound indicating the start of the fight resonated in the large room. In a single move, Kayne flipped the man claiming himself to be the best guard of the day that defeated more than 10 challengers. He raised his dagger in the air and sent it deep into the man's stomach, causing a laceration.
The man died instantly without having any chance to invoke a single spell. And the silenced crowd jeered on the dead person as if it is his fault to be so weak in front of the challenger.
