That day, Kayne left the institute together with the elder Regulus. Reene keeps looking at him without a word and Luke looks like a warm hearted man. Based on his observation, the family's hair color is due to genetics since both of them also have the same whitish hair as he and Rigel have.
"We're now approaching the Lion's Den," the coachman announced.
Kayne lifted to see where they were and saw that the road they were taking was in the middle of the forest.
Luke chuckled at his reaction and patted his shoulder pointing out the small pathway going outside the forest. When they reached the point Luke is pointing at, the forestry turned into bricks and high walls. A majestic castle lies in the middle of the forest and guards are stationed in front of the gate.
"We greet the family heads!" they bellowed in unison when they saw the coach approaching the gate.
When they reached the main door of the house, Kayne's amazement doubled.
"It is his first time to enter the place," Luke reasoned out to his wife who almost hit Kayne for his lack of elegance.
"I know but he's gaping his mouth like an idiot," Reene said.
The maids who greeted them reached out to Peony to tell her the room Kayne is going to occupy. When they reached the room, He immediately plunged himself to the bed and closed his eyes.
"I hope that you are satisfied," Luke said when he checked on Kayne.
Hearing his grandfather's voice, Kayne jumped out of his bed and bowed a little to show respect. "Grandfather..."
"Take a rest or have some tour outside. The event will be tomorrow, clear your mind first." And Luke left Kayne inside his room to make preparations for the upcoming event.
Peony also busied herself arranging Kayne's luggage to the closet where she carefully hung each of his prepared clothes. An hour later, a new set of clothes are delivered to their room. According to the maids, it is a gift from the house's heads to their grandchild. Peony received the gifts gracefully and placed it together with the other things Kayne owned. Even as a maid originally from the ducal house of Berith, she knows that she's already transferred as an exclusive servant of Kayne Fenriz Regulus. She's also thankful to this set-up because this means that she'll never be a subject of hateful remarks from any of her co-workers since she's Kayne's only attendant.
"Master, they left the clothes with a card saying that dinner will be in the Sunshine room at 6:00 pm."
Kayne did not answer.
She turned around to see what he's doing but Kayne's peaceful face is what she saw. He's sleeping peacefully without any sound coming from him but when she tried to wake him up, Kayne tugged her making her fall on the bed with him.
"Young master, you need to wake up," Peony said while trying to stand up on her own.
Kayne, who's in the middle of his dream, does not hear any of Peony's pleas and hugs her figure instead. In his dream, he's simply catching a bull that took his pastries away.
Afraid that someone might see and give a malicious meaning on Kayne's action, Peony took all of her courage to headbutt her young master.
The pain woke up Kayne. He sat and found out that the pain came from his forehead.
Peony also took away his hand and repeated what she said earlier. "Master, the maids delivered your clothes with a card saying that dinner will be in the Sunshine room at 6:00 pm."
"Peony, it's painful," Kayne whined at his bruised forehead. "You can wake me up casually if you need something."
"I am not in a position where I can wake you up as usual, young master."
Kayne simply sighed at Peony's reason and went to the bathroom to soak himself out of the dizziness from oversleeping.
"How can a maid be so brutal?" He complained to himself. But in contrast to Nathaira's obsession, he will still choose Peony over that self proclaimed mother of his.
"Young master, I prepared your clothes to use," Peony announced.
"You don't need to see me change. Ask the maids where you can stay the night later," Kayne instructed.
"I don't recommend that, young master. We are not in the institution and it will be hard for me to protect you if something happens out of your expectations."
"Then what, are you going to sleep with me?"
Kayne's nonchalant suggestion tinted Peony's cheeks in deep red momentarily but she chased all her rationality back and serious tone without delay. "Yes, young master."
Kayne practically rose on his feet when he realized what he said and Peony's response to it.
He finished his bath quietly and grabbed the robe. After he is done drying his hair, he picks up the clothes prepared by his maid and changes inside the bathroom.
Though he's completely done wearing the clothes, Peony helped him arrange his collar and every small detail of his attire.
"You look fashionably presentable, young master," Peony chirped.
Kayne did not agree nor disagree at Peony. He's just thankful that it is Peony and not other girls else he already puked out for no reason.
"Are you coming with me tomorrow?"
"Of course, young master. It is included in my job to protect you all the time wherever you are. If you want me to shoot someone, I will gladly oblige."
Kayne immediately stopped her in taking out her weapon. "Anything but that, Peony. I don't want any unnecessary bloodshed."
"Understood."
He sighed and loosened his grip on her. "Good."
"But are you already fine?" Peony stood on her toes and checked Kayne's forehead. "Did I hit that hard?," she commented while trying to search for the bruise.
"No, of course not. I am fine and all. Yes. And please tidy up my room. I am leaving." Kayne said, pushing Peony away from him and slowly. "I'll be off. See you later."
