Chapter 12 Record

In spite of Rigel's wish for him not to use any mana, Kayne tried to eavesdrop on what the student was saying to Koiren out of curiosity. As long as he did not use it to harm other people, he thinks that he's safe from his father's reprimands.
"P-professor Rigel is dead!"
Kayne who heard this revelation froze on his step.
"That's why I did not say it to Sir Kayne. You two are too brutal."
Brutal? Him?
"My father is one of the knights who accompanied the professor. He said that the mist evaporated him along with the other scouts."
Kayne's breath became heavy on each word that was said. His ears are ringing and his heart is pounding wilder than before. Among the people he met, Rigel Regulus is the only one who he sees as a family.
Nathaira and the Principal who received the report that Rigel is dead and that a student announced it at the cafeteria ran as fast as they could to reach Kayne.
"I'll use blink."
Headmaster Stanz approved of Nathaira's decision and let her go first to look for Kayne. He's aware of the child's temperament and from there, he can see how Kayne will react to things regarding Rigel who he sees as a father figure.
"Don't kill, young child. For old child's sake, don't kill," Reileigh Stanz begged as he dashed towards the cafeteria.
But they are already a second late.
After he gathered his thoughts and silenced the unexplainable ringing inside his head. Kayne became as calm as the wind and his presence merged with the surrounding, completely erasing his existence.
He teleported back to the cafeteria and twisted the arm of the unknown student until it tore off, making the victim cry in severe pain and blood loss.
Nathaira saw what happened and immediately attacked Kayne to restrict him but she was parried so easily, sending her flying to the ceiling. She coughed a mouthful of blood from the internal injuries she received and stood up once again.
"Wake up, Kayne," she said. "Think. Is the professor so easy to kill?"
"Shut up." Kayne's bloodlust covered the entire institute and students who couldn't handle its thickness fell one by one, losing their consciousness.
The Headmaster felt the change in atmosphere and he knew for sure who's the one creating such excessive coercion. When he reached the cafeteria, the scene was simpler than what he thought. He can see how level headed Kayne became after he received teachings from Rigel. Aside from the single bleeding student and injured Nathaira, everyone just seemed to pass out.
"Ay...ay...young child."
Headmaster's light mood seemed to relax Kayne that made him stop his oozing bloodlust. But he kept his guard up and stared at the two like a wild beast.
Nathaira walked slowly behind the headmaster to hide from Kayne who had his instincts ready for a kill.
Reileigh Stanz, on the other hand, used this opportunity to throw a recording device towards Kayne's direction. The device was given to him by his previous student, Rigel, as a safety measure in case of an emergency like this.
"So, you used your mana," Rigel said.
Kayne, who saw his father's face flashed from the device, bit his lips as he heard the first sentence. He felt so sorry that he broke his promise to him yet so glad to see his face once more.
"Where are you? Are you going back? Let me come with you," Kayne said worriedly despite knowing that the thing is prerecorded.
"Since I will not be back for a long time, I asked the headmaster to watch over you. I know that you are worried but that kind of emotion will only hinder both you and me on our respective goals. Listen to what they'll say and respect their wishes as you respect mine. Can you promise me?"
Kayne nodded to his father's words.
"Make some friends, Kayne. I'll be back before you know it and when that time comes, I want to hear your stories about your life as Kayne Fenriz Regulus."
"Father!"
The recording stopped and the device became cold and heavy at Kayne's hand. He poured mana to it once more but it simply restarted on Rigel's first words. "So, you used your mana..."
Both Nathaira and Headmaster Stanz walked towards Kayne who seemed shocked at what he heard earlier.
"Do you want to search for him?"
Kayne nodded in agreement to Headmaster Stanz' suggestion.
"I'll let you do whatever you want after you graduate from this institute. However, until then, all you have to do is wait patiently here on his return and become the best student. Nathaira here will accompany you all the time to avoid accidents like what happened today."
Kayne silently agreed with the Headmaster's words. All he has left right now is the recording of his father's wish for him.
"Can I count Koiren as a friend?"
Taken aback by Kayne's sudden question, the two exchanged looks at each other and laughed.
"Ay...of course." Headmaster Stanz answered happily. He stroked Kayne's hair that became disheveled from his bout with Nathaira before speaking again. "You can have as many friends as you want. I am sure that old child would be happy to see you enjoy your youth."
Nathaira, who also felt so delighted at Kayne's sudden innocence, hugged the child who sent her flying earlier. "You can start calling me mother," she said, giggling at the thought of her and Rigel's marriage with Kayne's approval.
"M-mother?"
Nathaira can't help but squeal when Kayne calls her mother.
"You heard it too, he called me mother," she said to the headmaster, confirming that she heard it right.
"No. I only want to ask why "mother"?," Kayne denied.
Brokenhearted, Nathaira's spirit dropped down to zero and sighed which gained a small laughter from the headmaster.
"Seems like both father and son are hard nuts to crack."
Kayne smiled at the sulking Nathaira.
All is going well for the three of them until they realize that they forgot something very important and that is the student lying on the floor with a severed arm. He's unconscious and is already knocking at the death's door but what Kayne did mesmerized not only the two people with him but the spectator watching them secretly.
Kayne used an advanced healing spell and regenerated the severed limb which is very different to how they know him — a person of annihilation.

Just finished watching 25 eps. on Amazon Prime and the last 5 on Youtube because I couldn't wait. Both main casts are so lovely and did an awesome job. This is the second time I watched Zheng Ye Cheng as one of the main leads. I couldn't get over the 'An Oriental Odyssey' because he has a cute smile and very soothing voice. I hope that I can see both main leads in more future c-dramas. Highly recommend it. 11 people found this helpful. Just finished watching 25 eps. on Amazon Prime and the las
