Chapter 62 KELVIN DILEMMA

Words alone could not describe the fear, outrage, anxiety, and trauma arising from Andrew's heart. His stepdad's words before leaving only gave him a crazy feeling. It makes him feel tenser than ever.
There is no doubt that he might find a way out of the prison. And if that happens, he would keep looking for him. It seems as if one problem is down, another one is up.
"We would like to stay here with you this night. We can catch up together. Isn't that fun?", Joy commented.

The four of them are now in the sitting room. They had watched how the cops took Mr. Ryan away and Kevin monitored them. According to Kevin, he might be charged to court in the next five days.
"Sure. I hope you do not mind Andrew," Rachael butt in as Andrew put on a fake smile.
"Sure. No problem. It will be relieving to have you around. After today, I want to leave this house. It would only remind me of what I have gone through. I think I will buy a room self-contained apartment. I have more than enough to buy one," Andrew sighed.
Joy stood up as she sat beside Andrew. She patted his shoulder, as she gave him a side hug.
"Everything is going to be okay. If that is what you want, I fully support it, and I believe others support it too, right?" The others nodded, smiling.
"Why don't you give us a better smile, before I smack you," They all burst into laughter at Joy's sassy self.
Andrew, himself smiled. It was a good thing spending time together.
"I have been wondering. Why don't we talk about our goals, in terms of future careers? Anyone can start first," Rachael stated.
"Well, after my graduation, I want to take up photography for a year, and also work on my cooking skills. Hopefully, gaining a scholarship to a higher institution a year after high school to study Business Administration. I hope to be a Photographer, Cook, and Business owner in the future," They applauded at Kevin's words.
"You want to gain a scholarship. Your dad is a rich man," Joy commented.
"And so? I like being independent. And being a brilliant student, taking part in a scholarship won't hurt right?"
"Yeah, duh... All the best Kevin. Don't flaunt your nerdy self in front of me. I hate being jealous," They laughed again at Joy's sarcastic tone.
"I also plan on taking up fashion designing for a year after High School. Then apply for a scholarship to a College to study HOME SCIENCE AND MANAGEMENT. I hope to be a Teacher, Fashion Designer, and Counsellor." They all clapped for Rachael too.
Andrew adjusted himself as he sighed.
"I am planning to enter College immediately after my High School. I want to study Medicine and Surgery. I hope to write my books too, as I study. And since it is about 5-7 year course. It would be better to work towards it on time." They all applauded too.
"Wait, you write? Not bad....," Joy beamed with a smile.
"Yes, Andrew write. Mostly teen fiction, Young Adults and Real Life Stories," Rachael explained, as Andrew simply smiled.
"Okay, that is cool. Looking forward to reading some of your books. As for me, I am sticking to HOME SCIENCE AND MANAGEMENT too. Sticking to the interior designing make-up part. I also plan on learning Interior designing and Makeover after my High School," A round of applause went through the room.
"I'm just curious, to why you are going with the same course as Rachael's," Andrew butt in, as Joy rolled her eyes.
"Don't get all high and mighty Andrew. Even tho it is the same course. We will be in different sections. She can be in Child Development and Family Studies, while I will be in Clothing and Textiles," Joy explained.
"That is true. While her area of focus will be on dressmaking and tailoring, consultancy, Interior design, and Fashion. Mine will be focused on areas like counseling and psychology, as well as teaching and education," Rachael added as they nodded.
They all continued their discussion and it reached the heart. It makes Rachael be filled with happiness, seeing her friends together. She felt free of the previous problems she went through with her dad.
Andrew on the other hand was happy he had friends who never judged him even when they figured out he has same-sex attraction. Instead, they comforted and supported him. It was one of those things that touched his heart deeply.
Kevin felt free, and content inside. To him, as long as they are together like this, it was one of the greatest things happening to him. Even if his feelings for Rachael remain unrequited, he still hopes there would be a change. For now, being good friends is dope.
Joy beamed with satisfaction. To her, these are her Best Friends. One she truly treasured, and who are ready to stand up for each other, no matter what. She finally realized that true friends, even tho rare can be found.
Kevin's phone brightened up as a message popped in. He raised his brows, as he bit her lips, slightly uncontented.
"I'm sorry you all, but I got to jet," he stood up as he picked his car keys.
"Hope no problem," Rachael asked, as Kevin sighed.
"Not really. I just received a message from my mum informing me to come home immediately as it is very important," Kevin explained as they all saw him off outside.
"Whatever the case may be, please drive carefully and also keep us updated," Joy stated as Kevin nodded, before driving off.
Kevin tried not to reflect on the message he received. He hoped everything was okay. The message he received was: "Kevin dear, please come home immediately. Your father is in a bad mood. Very important ASAP,"

He could not help but wonder why his dad was around tonight. He is always home during the weekend and today being Thursday was supposed to be a meeting with his stakeholders.
He has always seen his father as a workaholic and a lover of money. He hardly have time to rest, as he kept traveling to and fro the country. It was like chasing the wind. He kept wanting more and more money, even though he does legal business.
Kevin frowned, as he remembered the day he confronted his dad about his workaholic nature. His dad simply ignored him and only stated he was only doing the work for his benefits, that is, Kevin's benefits. His dad has shunned him, never to mention anything like that to him. Since then, he never said anything. His allowance decreased drastically, which never bothered him a bit. After all, the sum was okay for him, and he had been saving them.
Kevin accelerated as he turned, pressing on the brake as he stopped the car. He hopped out of the car as he raced inside.
His heart raced when he saw what was happening in the sitting room. His dad was on top of his mum and giving her blows all over her body.
"You evil woman. You scandal. You have ruined my life. You are a murderer," Swiftly, Kevin pushed his dad away from his mum as he fell to the ground.
He assisted his mum up who stood behind him, trembling with tears in her eyes.
His dad plunged forward as Kevin held him. He noticed the smell of alcohol, as he realized his dad was drunk, something he would be seeing for the first time.
"Let me kill her. She has ruined me. She has ruined us," Kevin noticing his dad's violent self pushed him as he fell on the chair.
He held his mum's hand as they both rushed upstairs. Kevin's dad continued cursing as he tried to run after them but was tired as he slumped on the chair, beads of sweat on his face as he burst into another round of tears.
Kevin dragged her mum inside her room, as he closed the door. He made her mum sit on her bed, as he brought out cotton wool and methylated spirit to clean the bloodstain on her skin.
She winced in pain, as she hissed continually, hitting her legs against the ground. Kevin finally breathe a sigh of relief as he noticed the blood has tried up.
"Mum, what is going on? Why did dad keep hitting you that hard, and calling you names?" Kevin questioned his mum, who closed her eyes.
"He just came in and started shouting my name. That was why I sent you a message since I noticed he was quite irrational. He found my hiding place and started beating me as well as calling me all sorts of names. That's all," Kevin felt more confused at her mum's revelation.
Some things still seem unclear to him, making him feel more perturbed, with a bitter feeling hitting him harder than he thought. For the years he had known his father, he never treated her cruelly. The only thing was that they lived like FRIENEMIES, neither behaving like friends nor enemies.
Apart from that, they have lived peacefully. His dad would always praise his mum in her absence.
"Are you sure that is all? You are not hiding anything from me? "Kevin asked further, as he stared at his mum hoping to get some kind of reaction from her, but received none.
His mum stood up as she patted his shoulder.
"Kevin, thank you for your help. Take some rest. There is more than what meets the eyes. Tomorrow will reveal everything," Kevin was stunned, as he watched his mum walk out of his room.
He hissed, as he felt a sharp pain through his head. Taking some pain reliever, he took it with water. He paced around his room trying to juggle his thoughts together.
He tried to think of his mum's words but could not deduce anything from them. His dad should be asleep by now, likewise his mum. So he had no other choice than to wait till the next day.
As he laid on his bed that night, he only felt numb, his heart raging widely. Somehow, he felt something bad was lurking around.
But the question is ' What is it?'
