Chapter 69 JEALOUSY

Feelings can be the best thing especially when expressed, but limitation has to be put in place especially when such feelings might not be in the long term.
They smiled at each other warmly as their short mesmerizing moment was being cut short by the opening of the door.
Kevin coughed slightly as he quickly released Rachael's hands as he turned to leave. The juniors who entered greeted him politely as he simply nodded, bubbling inside like a happy kid.
He decided to have his lunch at the classroom, hoping to see Rachael after school." Does this mean they are now dating, since they feel the same about themselves? Or they would remain just friends?"
Those questions kept running through Kevin's mind. He sighed, hoping the day would come to an end soon.
....
Joy and Andrew on the other hand both had lunch together. Joy was entertaining Andrew with some of her jokes, which only made Andrew smile and laugh heartily. He must confess he hadn't laughed this much, but Joy's jokes were exceptional.

They both finished their meal, and they decided to leave for their various classes. Joy silently has wished they could spend more time together, but Andrew still had a science project to work on.
Funny enough, they are in revision week, which means their examination will start in a week's time. Joy felt distractions building in at the wrong time.
On the normal ground, she doesn't even concentrate well when she doesn't have feelings for the opposite sex. Now that she likes Andrew, reading, and studying have only been a source of procrastination as she finds herself daydreaming about Andrew.
"Joy, hope you are preparing for your exams?"Andrew brought her out of her reverie, as she faked a smile.
"Yeah, kinda. I'm trying my best. It is my last examination in high school. I can't afford to fail it." She stated as Andrew nodded.

They stopped as three girls stood in their front.
"Hey Andrew, I like your dressing today, especially the checkered shirt. You keep looking more handsome every day", the fair-looking-slender girl said.
Joy could not hold herself as she boiled with anger inwardly, but she just decided to keep her cool. ' Nice show off' she mocked inwardly.
"Um, thanks. I appreciate", Holding Joy's hand, he walked away from them.
Joy released her grip from Andrew, as she felt jealous slightly.
"You like the girl uh?" Joy could not help but ask.
"No. She is just a friend, and a classmate", Andrew put on a confused face, surprised at Joy's words.
"It is alright. Bye", Without waiting for a reply, Joy walked away.
Andrew gazed at her silhouette, wondering why she acted that way. It seemed surprising and somehow he could not even get to understand Joy at that moment.
Joy felt nervous as she made her way to the class. She clasped her hands against each other, trying to fathom how unreasonable she just acted. She still finds it difficult to understand why she hadn't gotten self-control on the feelings she had for Andrew. It felt troublesome and more difficult.
She got to her class and laid her head on the table. She closed her eyes, as Andrew's picture only came to her mind. Why is it so difficult to get him out of his head? She felt as if a burden was on her body. Somehow, she needed someone to talk to. But Rachael was not available.
Her mind went back to the time she promised never to develop feelings throughout her high school. But it seems there was another plan for her. Now, she is trapped with a feeling for one of her best friends. One that might even be unrequited too. What a sham!
Finding it difficult to control her thinking, she found solace as she slept off, hoping to get help soon before things get out of hand.
.....
It was always a good thing to have a heart-to-heart talk, especially when it comes to feelings. Sometimes, what one sees might not be the REAL THING. Love, infatuation, crush, lust, attraction all have their meanings. It would be wrong to see Crush as Love as well as vice versa.
Rachael and Kevin decided to have some ME time, as they both met at one of the school fields. They have texted Joy and Andrew to wait for them after school.

Kevin could not help but smile, as they sat opposite each other, an open table in between them.
"You did not expect me to confess my feelings, do you?" Rachael asked as Kevin nodded.
"Yeah. Quite surprising. I never thought you would develop the tiniest feeling for me. I'm honored", Kevin commented.
"Feelings are unpredictable. The good memories we shared brought it out, even if it is even the slightest crush, I'm glad I had it on my best friend", Rachael beamed with a smile and said.
"I. I just wanted to know about the step forward. Your thoughts, especially on what we feel about it. I mean us", Nervousness bred in as Kevin said those words.
"Sure. Here is a sheet of paper and pen, as well as mine. Drop what you feel we should do. I will also do the same", Kevin stared at the materials in front of him, as he held the pen.
They both took the pens as they wrote on the sheets of paper. Within a few minutes, they finished as they swapped their sheets of paper.
"You can go first by reading mine. I will read yours", Rachael voiced out as Kevin nodded in agreement.
"As long as we are still in our teenagerdom, feelings we have for each other might fade. I will still say we take things slowly and remain friends. No dating. If the feelings persist in the future, then we can date with purpose, that is, to get married", Kevin read out what Rachael wrote, as he stared at Rachael, indicating for her to go on with her reading.
"We have been friends since childhood, and it has been amazing. Young love can be unpredictable and can fade away easily. And since we both know what being in a relationship involves, it must have a purpose.
I still want us to be good friends, and I do hope that if these feelings of ours continue to bloom, then I will be ready to make you my woman. Still waiting for the right time.#DATING WITH PURPOSE. For now, we can be good friends", Rachael and Kevin both felt warm at heart.
They realized they had almost the same priority when it comes to relationships. They do not want to date, just because they both have feelings for each other. They decided to wait till they pass their bloom of youth(when sexual desires are high) when they know the true meaning of the word LOVE. For now, they will just be friends, facing their future priorities with joy, building good friendships, and filled with happiness.
"Wow. Still surprised we had the same priorities. Dating can still come up later on. For now, we should focus on our personal goals. Thanks so much for being a good friend." Kevin smiled at her words.
Since they won't be in a relationship, what could go wrong? After all, dating is a social activity in which your romantic interest is focused on one particular person, and the person's interest is focused on you.
"It is alright. I guess limitations will be on. No frequent messages, phone calls, or too much time together, since that could only arouse our interest. We still have a long way to go", Kevin commented.
"Right. We just behave like how we used to. Friends... It shouldn't be that hard right", they both laughed at Rachael's words.
"It would, but we have priorities. When we set them ahead of our feelings, we are sure to do the right thing", Kevin assured.
They both walked out of the field as they saw Andrew and Joy waiting for them under a shade. Joy, on seeing Rachael and Kevin, strapped her backpack as she began walking away.
Andrew walked towards Rachael and Kevin, as they seemed quite curious why Joy left in such a rush.
"What is wrong with Joy? Did you offend her?" Rachael probed, as she hasn't been able to talk to her friend since morning.
"I don't know. A girl complimented my look, and that was how she started her tantrum. She does not even speak to me. I even felt maybe she had a feud with the girl or her friends, but why is she transferring her aggression to me?" Andrew explained, not knowing whether to cry or laugh.
Rachael felt struck for a while, as she realized what was going on. It is quite obvious Joy hasn't gotten a grip on her feelings for Andrew.
"Probably mood swings", Rachael quickly said, hoping they would buy that.
"Mood swings? Weird. Joy is always cheerful. Maybe she is falling for this guy right here", Kevin added fuel to the fire.
"Seriously bro? Joy wouldn't even think of me like that." Andrew spoke out his mind.
"Can you just stop it? You guys are annoying. Just go home. I will be heading the other way, gossipers", Rachael walked away towards the direction Joy went.
Andrew and Kevin laughed as they begin their way home, in Kevin's car.
Rachael's head kept brooding with thoughts. She hoped Joy can get a grip on herself. Somehow, she felt pity for her best friend.
