Chapter 68 CONFESSION

Saying YES will only make him be in the suffering end. How will he even tell his other friends that he broke the rule of dating, and has started dating Lydia? It sounds unreasonable.
The shout kept getting intense, making Kevin blame himself for coming early to school today. He looked across the hall, as his eyes met with that of Rachael.
He felt his heartbeat, as he saw the pain in her eyes, maybe it was his imagination. Before he could say a word, Rachael turned away and left.
Within a split second, Kevin removed his hand from that of Lydia, ready to make his own decision. He took a step forward, as the noise began reducing.
"I don't know why you are making a fuss over this unless you want Principal Mullins to detain you all for disturbing the school peace. That is on a light mode.
Thank you all for thinking Miss Lydia might be the right one for me. But I will like to clarify that we are just friends. The pictures you saw were not really how you looked at it.
I like someone else, but I am not ready to date at the moment. True love does not come at one's teenagerdom, but when one is passed the bloom of youth, which I haven't.
Miss Lydia and I are nothing but friends. And I do hope you understand and do not start spreading rumors. Thank you", Kevin stated, as he strode away.
Everywhere turned silent like a graveyard. The students could only murmur and began feeling sympathy for Lydia who only stood still like an unwanted bride in a typical billionaire story.
Anger could be seen in Lydia's eyes. She felt mixed emotions of sadness. Being rejected was not something she expected. She could still remember how she had boasted to Zack that the plan will work.
Some students still took pictures of her, which only made her angry, but she tried to remain calm, not wanting to show his other side. She walked away, as she found an empty class to breathe.
She was not going to have any class not until the next 30 minutes. She held on to her chest, as she felt hurt. Tears brimmed her eyes, as she let it out.

Her phone beeped as she took it out, gently cleaning her eyes with a handkerchief. She felt more shocked as she saw a video of Kevin's rejection. Within a split second, she flung her phone, without thinking.
The door opened, and a slow clap made Lydia turn abruptly. She frowned, seeing her arch-nemesis, someone she thought she had defeated.
The clap became slower, as it stopped.
"I never knew you could cry, how pitiable. Oh! I'm sorry", Maya laughed.
"Oh no, I'm not. You deserve it, Lydia. Forcing yourself on the young man, especially when he is interested in your step-sister. What a shame", she mocked as Lydia formed her fist into a ball.
She never expected Maya would be back at school soon, most especially after the scandal about her, which almost got her expelled. That is how she often gets her obstacle off her way. Lydia could be more oppressive when it comes to getting what she wants.
"You!" Lydia was speechless at her use of words.
"Yes me. All thanks to you, I have a second chance. I am changed now." Maya snickered.
"Be careful with your words Maya. You might end up in a more sticky situation", Lydia felt even tenser.

Maya burst into laughter, as Lydia does not seem to want to be taking it lightly. The only thought on her head was how she would pounce on Maya. But she was wary, as she felt Maya could be very cunny, and have some tricks off her sleeves.
"For someone pathetic as you, you should try to remain on a low-key. It is the sheer audacity for me. The video went round. You are the laughing stock in the school", Maya was not taking it Low on her.
"You thought you ruined me by placing those videos of me in the school media. Now, it turns all-around back to you. Such a huge embarrassment, such a pity.
What goes around comes around. Try not to be jealous. Rachael and Kevin like each other and would appreciate it if an intruder like you does not get in between. My obsession with Zack got the best of me, making me a crazy fellow. Don't let your feelings get the best of you. Take care", Maya smiled sweetly, as she walked outside not waiting for Lydia to give her response.
Lydia fumed, her body rising and falling due to the anger in her. There was no doubt she had anger issues and still refused to calm down.
She finally sat on one of the chairs as she gave way to tears. She felt defeated, but not for long. "I will not go easy on you Rachael Jenkins. You took what was mine",
.....
Kevin felt his body tense as he left the scene to look for Rachael. Beads of sweat made their way to his forehead as he strode, checking almost all the classes.
He sighed, feeling more guilty. Maybe because Rachael saw him in that compromising state. Maybe he was overreacting but the fact that Rachael left the scene gave him creeps that she was not happy.
He closed the door to Rachael's classroom as he bumped into someone who pulled him back slightly.
"Hey bro, rushing somewhere?" Kevin cleaned his forehead with the back of his hand as he noticed how sweaty he was.
Joy and Andrew stood in front of him, while some other students kept murmuring about him as they walked sideways.
"Guilty or not guilty?" Joy raised her phone to face Kevin. Kevin does not know whether to laugh or cry.
"Hey, our friend is innocent. Lydia probably cooked this up", Andrew defended, as Joy rolled her eyes.
She became speechless again as she dropped her phone.
"Where is Rachael?" Kevin asked.
"No one knows. We will see later during the break. It is almost time for your first class. Let us go together," Andrew stated.
"No, I have to find Rachael first. I need to explain to her", Kevin insisted.
"Hello Loverboy, don't get all cozy now. Follow Andrew and I will talk to Rachael. But if you still insist, you are free to go. Just get ready to face the consequences", Joy wore a stern look and said.

Kevin sighed as he simply nodded, following Andrew. He could not help but wish that the two classes he would be having before the break will come to an end sooner.
Kevin saw Lydia at the side of the class as he turned his eyes away. For some reason, he felt it was the right thing for him to clarify things in front of everyone. After all, he doesn't like her.
Leaving the scene without saying a thing might make people continue to tag them together which he is not in support with. And if there was something he would never do during his high school. It would be DATING or being in a RELATIONSHIP.
The two classes Kevin had were more like boring talk, even tho those two subjects are Kevin's favorite subjects. His mind was not calm and all that was on his head was how to see Rachael.
'You are not dating Rachael, are you? Then concentrate", Kevin felt struck by his inner mind voice.
He finally calmed down realizing why he does not need to feel tensed up. He should know fully well that Rachael was mature and won't react negatively. He should just wait till break. For now, he has to lay his head down for the two classes he would be having.
.....
The jingle of the bells brought Kevin out of his reverie as he got out of his classroom. He was not affected by the stares of his classmates as he knew it had to deal with Lydia's confession in the morning.
His phone beeped as a message entered.
"Rachael had to visit Principal Mullins as a result of the spelling bee they went for last week. Presently, Rachael is in the last class in the German Classroom. You can meet her within the next 30 minutes before she met with the Press Group.
Joy
Kevin did not waste time as he rushed upstairs, not minding the stares from others. He took giant steps as he made his way to the class.
Reaching the classroom, Kevin opened the door. He walked inside, as everywhere was quiet, and only his footsteps could be heard.
"Oh, Kevin. What are you doing here?" Rachael stood up, and she was slightly surprised to see Kevin.
"Um, Good afternoon. Are you busy?"
"No, I am not", Rachael simply replied.
"I just wanted to tell you that nothing was going on between me and Lydia. We met on Saturday.....", Rachael's laughter made Kevin stop for a while.
Kevin looked on, not sure what he said that made Rachael laugh. Rachael took steps closer to Kevin.
"You do not need to explain anything to me. Thanks for trying to clarify things. Weldone for today tho", she winked at him as Kevin grinned.
"I guess I should go now",
"Wait." Kevin halted, as Rachael took one more step closer.
"I like you", Rachael said.
"I like you too", Kevin replied.
Rachael sighed as she held Kevin's hands.
"I mean you are the one I like",
