Chapter 65 FEELINGS
Life is like a circle of happiness, sadness, hard times, and good times. If you are going through hard times, have faith that good times are on the way- Via.
The group no doubt were able to realize that their problems will come and go. Rather than feeling sorry for themselves, they believed in themselves instead.
There was no misgiving that good friends will always be the best kind of support you will ever need in life. Kevin's face continued to grow despite the challenges he encountered a day ago.
He allowed himself to smile, freeing his mind of all the worries that might attempt to make him feel down. His friends being around him felt like resting on a support system. Not to talk of the most important being who gave him the peace that surpasses all understanding, Almighty God.
"Joy, that is crazy. You should have simply left the place, instead of getting into detention," Andrew stated, as they were discussing Joy's detention that happened the previous day.
"If there has to be something I hate. It is bullying. The girl in the name of BULLY kept lashing at that girl. She is poor, yes I know, but that does not give her the right to belittle and make fun of her. We are all humans.
I later figured out it has been like that since the first semester. Not only does she abuse, beat or call her names, she even forces her to do her assignments. I learned they were kind of step-siblings. All this she had done, the poor girl struggled with insecurities and felt she was not good enough to even stand up for herself." Everyone could see the good side to Joy's explanation.
Being someone who had experienced the struggles that comes with insecurities, Joy wouldn't allow anyone of those she sees around to be trampled on. She could best be described as the HEROINE FOR THE WEAK.
"We understand your points, Joy. You did an excellent job in helping the poor girl. Hmm, her name?"
"Her name is Emerald. Her green eyes, gosh, so enchanting. She is a beauty," Joy coos as others laughed.
"Emerald. Such a nice name. A much nicer way would have been better in helping Emerald. You pushed her step bully sister, who got her to kneel almost ruptured. Just try to be calming down," Joy sighed at Rachael's words.
It was obvious her mood tend to change on a high note whenever she sees others ganging up on one person. It makes her remember what Maya, Jessica, and her friends did to her before she finally stood up for herself.
"I understand. I will learn to be calming down Maidemosell," Joy said, as they smiled.
"Erm guys, I will be moving to my house tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone of you would have a spare time,"
"Me," Joy raised her hand in response to Andrew's question.
Rachael and Kevin looked at each other briefly wondering what was going on with Joy.
"What? Why are you staring at me like a heap of sand?" Rachael almost burst into laughter at Joy's use of the expression.
"Like seriously? Heap of sand? Can you do more better?" Kevin snickered, making Joy sigh, as she pulled Kevin's ear.
"Just correct me. The words just came into my mouth Dumbo," Kevin does not know whether to cry or laugh, as she left Kevin's ear.
"We were just surprised you volunteered to help Andrew out. Are you perhaps clumsy with your thoughts?" Rachael asked.
Joy moved closer to Andrew as she wrapped her right hand around his shoulder.
"Since Andrew did not mind, I don't think it is any of your businesses darlings. Not only will I get to see Andrew's new house. I at least need to lambaste him on his taste. I also get to read his books. Killing two birds with one stone," Andrew only took a sip from the cup of tea in front of him.
Rachael looked at Joy noticing the glow on her face. The smile she had whenever she talked about someone she likes to her. Rachael felt sad for her. The truth is, Andrew might not see her the way she sees him. Not only does Andrew still struggle with his feelings for the same sex. He sees Joy as a closer friend than others.
"It is settled then. Joy will help me out. I will endure all your saucy words," Joy pushed him away slightly as she pour herself coffee.
"Sorry, we won't be able to make it tomorrow morning. But we will try to be there in the evening. Just send the location." Rachael announced.
While Rachael has a spelling competition to cover up, Kevin has to see his father at the prison the next day. Their schedules are kinda fixed.
"And I will also like to inform you that Andrew and I will be living together from Monday. I will forever be grateful to Rachael and his mum for helping me out during my tough times. I appreciate it," Kevin stated, as Rachael smiled
"We thank Jehovah. Don't sweat it. What are friends for? Always to help through thick and thin. Thank you for your help too. Using this opportunity to thank each and everyone too. I love you all," Joy stood up as she hugged Rachael.
"I love you too," Rachael used that opportunity to whisper to Joy.
"We will be leaving you guys to talk. Girls talk," Joy beamed with a smile, as she and Rachael left the boys.
Andrew and Kevin smiled as they saw them leave.
"How are you doing bro? I mean everything in general?" Andrew asked.
"Fine. It has been God all through. All that I went through was shocking, and I almost suffocated. But somehow, I had hoped that things will be alright. Tough times are for a short period. They will come and go," Kevin smiled, feeling more confident.
"It is the confidence for me. Any news about your dad?" Kevin sighed.
"Somehow, there has been a hold on it. He would be placed in court next week Wednesday. But a family friend in Australia who happened to be a Lawyer has volunteered to defend my dad in court for free," Kevin explained.
"Wow, the person is nice. Getting a good Lawyer in the U.S right now demands a lot of money.
"Don't worry about it. Things will turn out well. Just have faith," Andrew encouraged him as Kevin nodded.
The two continued talking about their plans, goals as well as other things.
On the other side of the house in Rachael's room was Joy, who was going through Rachael's wears, as she wanted to help her choose something to wear for the spelling bee.
"Why are your clothes always long? Don't you have something that will rest exactly on your knee?" Rachael breathless out gently at Joy's sarcastic words.
"Are you kidding me? I have some that rest exactly on my knee," Rachael said,
Joy brought out a red gown as she stood up, resting it on Rachael's body. The gown was a little bit below her knee. Most importantly, doesn't look too casual or too moderate.
"This looks good on you. Just put on a comfy flat shoe with it, with your hair placed down your shoulder," Joy imagined Rachael that way as she spoke.
"Thank you, dear friend. What will I do without you?"
Joy stopped for a while, as she lowered her eyes, looking at Rachael, who developed cold foot.
"Don't play jokes with me, dear friend, you won't like the consequences," Rachael giggled at Joy's tone of voice
It seems she already knows where she was heading too.
"What do you mean by that?" Collecting the gown, she moved towards her wardrobe and placed it gently there.
"What will I do without you? ," Joy mimicked Rachael.
"As if you can't do a lot without me," she rolled her eyes.
Rachael smiled, not turning to face her friend.
"What exactly do you want to tell me? I know it is not only to choose your clothes. Your face hides something. Spill it out Rachael Jenkins," Rachael smirked as she turned.
She moved closer to her friend, as she pulled her hands. They both sat on the bed, facing each other.
"I want to ask you something and I will appreciate it if you would be honest with me," Joy felt slight coldness across her body.
Rachael was only serious like this whenever she has an observation about her, want to correct her about something, or ask about who she had feelings for. 'It better not be the last one,' she prayed quietly
"Sure, shoot,' she smiled, scratching her hair slightly.
"Do you have feelings for Andrew?" Now, it was time for Joy to scream.
"I...I," Joy felt her words stuck to her throat. She breathes in and out.
There was nothing to lose. After all, her friend has figured her out already. It won't be nice playing rat and cat.
"Yes, I have a crush on Andrew. I just discovered that a few days ago. Apart from the talk, we had together as a group, we have also chatted. It was later I realized I had a liking for him," Joy hit her face slightly, feeling a little bit down.
Rachael held her hand, as she stared at her friend who was feeling overwhelmed by her new feelings.
" Feelings are unexpected and are naturally normal. Don't feel bad about it,"
Joy nodded, breathing out gently. She thought Rachael would tease her, especially since she had mentioned earlier that she would not develop feelings toward anybody, throughout her life in high school, somehow there was something else installed for her.
"I feel stupid. The urge to let him know about my feelings for him kept knocking on my mind, but I knew I would be selfish if I do that.
Not only is Andrew going through a lot right now. Confessing my feelings to him might make him compromise to getting into a relationship with me even if he doesn't feel the same way about me. Everything will just be wack," Joy finally let out her inner mind, as Rachael nodded in admiration of her thought.
"I understand and I appreciate you placed yourself in his shoes. Just try to develop self-control over the feelings. It might fade away, with time," Rachael counseled
"Yes ma'am. Can you prepare more Sandwiches? While I check out those beautiful styles on your phone," Rachael handed her her phone, as Joy went through her gallery.
"Wait," Rachael stopped on her track, as she turned.
"You already figured out who I like. Who do you like Rachael Jenkins," Rachael's eyes opened wide?
She let out a devious smile, as she ran out with the speed of lightning.
"Seriously? You are gonna pay for this Rachael," Joy shouted, knowing her friend played tricks on her.
Rachael finally calmed down as she rested on the kitchen cabin.
'Not until I am sure of this feeling, I can't reveal it to anyone,' Rachael quietly said in her mindDownload Novelah App
