Chapter 64 A CHANGE

Every plan they say always begins with a step. And the moment you realize that the one who means a lot to you was not exactly the kind of person you pictured.
Only the last statement on the sheet of paper drew Kelvin to a lot of confusion. It was a weird one because it was the least Kevin expected especially for someone who has raised him for the past eighteen years of his life.
He stared blankly at his car window. He felt lost and was at the point of giving up, but he couldn't. He still has to find a way to help his father out of prison. He still believed his supposed mum was the one behind the scene.
"Mrs. Arianna, you will pay for this," he swore as he stared back at the letter.
Dear Kevin,
I know you will be the one to get this letter since it has always been your daily routine to come to my room every morning. I do hope you are fine.
You might probably be wondering what has been going on. Just for you to be aware that I have traveled far away from where you can find me, both you and your father.
Your father has been the worst nightmare of my life, never reciprocating the love I had for him. And suddenly, my love for him grew into hatred.
I am your mum's twin, who took over when she died while giving birth to you. I did my motherly care, hoping that one day, your father will erase the love he had for my twin sister Allison.
But he didn't. Rather, he said we should separate once you gain admission into college. He was going to settle me,' that was what he said.
My hatred for him grew more than ever, as my love for his wealth grew in my heart too. I never wasted time, as I did what I had to do.
You are free to call me wicked, but your father is the wicked one here. He never looked at me all this while. Yet, he wanted to get rid of me. Good riddance, because finally, I have gotten revenge for what I lost all this while.
Don't ever try to look for me, because you won't see me. KEVIN, I WAS NEVER YOUR MOTHER.
.....
Kevin closed his eyes, as tears slipped down his face. The truth is a bit clear to him now. His foster mother only did all this because of hatred against her dead twin sister, as well as a love of money. All she wanted was Kevin's dad's properties.
Realizing, she might soon be kicked out, she took the action of taking everything, just to make his dad suffer.
"It is okay. Wherever you are, just remember that what goes around comes around. The wealth you clamored for will never make you happy. As you have brought pain and suffering to my dad and me, God will serve as a witness between us and serve as a judge.
I can't believe my dad kept all this from me. He did not do well by trying to send her away. That is the fault I found with my dad," Kevin soliloquize as he began cleaning the tears on his face.
He brought out his phone, as he noticed the missed calls from his friends. He quickly messaged Rachael.
' Some problems came up this morning. Kindly meet me as well as others at your house.'
Kevin thought it all over, as he drove to Rachael's house. He needed a place to cool off his head, and that seems to be the best place.
He knocked on the door, as it opened revealing Mrs. Eva, Rachael's mum.
"Kevin, you did not go to school," Her eyes widened as Kevin hugged her.
"Aunt, I am dying," he wept as Mrs. Eva patted her back slightly calming him down.

Kevin withdrew from the hug as he began cleaning his face.
"Come in," she closed the door as she held Kevin, moving him to one of the chairs in the living room.
"Kevin, you do not seem fine. What happened?" With concern, Mrs. Eva asked.

Kevin felt slightly embarrassed because he felt he allowed his emotion to get the better of him. He breathe out, as he handed the sheet of paper his Aunt wrote to him. After all, he now realized that his supposed Mum was simply his Aunt, the twin sister of his mother.
"What? Arianna is not your mother? I thought she was. I mean, we met while you were still a baby. She adores you and all. It seems people change a lot.
Kevin, I am so sorry about this. Trust me when I say I am completely struck by this letter. She messed up big time." She comforted Kevin, who kept sniffing.
"Thank you ma. She has sold all the properties, and now my dad is being held accountable for fraud." Kevin dropped the bomb, as Mrs. Eva's face narrowed.
"Oh my God! So sorry to hear this. Arianna has not done any good, and I believe justice will prevail. I hope God comforts you," She hugged Kevin who finds it hard controlling his emotions.
Kevin finally calmed down after a while, as Rachael's mum comforted him. She prepared him a hot tea with sandwiches, which he drank and ate.
Mrs. Eva left him as she stared at him from the kitchen. She felt pity for the poor boy. It must have been traumatizing for him to handle all those problems in one day.
"Aunt, can I use the bathroom?" Kevin turned his head as he asked.
"Sure, you can. I believe you can find your way around. You are free to stay here for the time being. Rachael will show you your room once she comes back." Kevin smiled, as his heartfelt heavy.
"I appreciate it ma," he appreciated as he went to take his stuff off his car.
'I do hope things turn out well for me,' he hoped in his heart.
......
Kevin stared at the sky as he looked at the full moon. He sighed as he rested his head on his hand.
"Hey, take this glass of milk I made," Rachael offered as he sat beside him.
Rachael came back late due to the Press meeting she had. Joy on the other hand was in-school detention for defending a poor girl from being bullied. Well, it almost got into a big fight.
Andrew on the other hand did not resume back to school as he had to visit the hospital for some checkups. Only Rachael knew about the evil that had befallen Kevin, while the others are clueless.
"Thank you," he accepted the cup of milk, as he took a sip.
"Are you still thinking," Rachael asked?
Kevin smiled, showing that beautiful smile, making his face more radiant.
"No, after your comforting words today, Nah ma'am," Kevin teased, as Rachael laughed.
"Hey, stop that. I only did what I had to do, as a friend. Joy and Andrew are still unaware of what happened. I kept it away from them," Kevin nodded.
Rachael after hearing Kevin's confession has comforted him and also advised him.
"I appreciate it. Hopefully, they will know later on. A big thanks to Aunt too. You made me happy today," Kevin felt his heart giddy, as he showed appreciation.
"We are glad to help. We will soon be ending our high school, just try to be the best you have been so far. I'm glad to have you as a friend," Rachael stated, as Kevin smiled.
" Thanks for being a good friend," he hugged her.
For some reason, Rachael felt her heartbeat, and somehow, she doesn't feel like withdrawing from the hug.

They finally withdrew from the hug as Kevin stood up.
"I will like to get some sleep."
"Oh. Sure. I will take you to your room. " They both walked inside, as Rachael took Kevin to one of the rooms in the house, located at the end of the house.
Kevin put on the light as he smiled, settling on the bed. Rachael stood near the door, as she watched Kevin silently. She doesn't feel too okay. 'Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me,' she told herself.
" Just like I have said, I am not planning to go to college immediately after High School. I will use that year in becoming independent to some level. For the time being, I need to figure out how to get my dad free." Kevin pulled out his shoes and put them gently near his bedside.
"May the God of heaven grant you your heart desires," Rachael said.
"Amen, and you too. Goodnight Rachael."
"Good night and sweet dreams," he smiled as he laid his bed well, before laying down on it.

Rachael looked at him intently before putting off the light, as she closed the door behind her.
Pity for him filled her heart, but one thing she never knew was that she was beginning to fall for him.
