Check mate
*Leroy POV*
Zenith is clinging to me and I can’t push her off. All my energy is spent at keeping Sky down. It’s like she knows it too because it does not matter how rude I am to her, she just won’t let me go.
“I will never accept your rejection. Never!” Zenith repeat ms her words while Sky yeps mate nonstop.
“You will hurt Cali,” I tell my stupid wolf, but he won’t stop.
My heart is hammering out of control. The look Cali’s pack members are giving me is enough to make me freak out. They already hate me for what my pack did to them, now I am hurting their beloved Queen.
Cali is also up there thinking I am choosing Zenith. No, I can’t lose Cali. I just can’t.
“Let me go, Zenith,” I say sternly, but this woman tightens her grip on me.
“You are my mate. You vowed to love me forever,” she reminds me of a promise I can never keep.
“I loved you then, not anymore. My heart belongs to Cali.”
I don’t know how many times I have said this, she just refuses to hear me.
“It does not. I will fight for us till death,” she says decisively.
I realise that reasoning with Zenith won’t work and take out my phone and call the one person I know can get here fast and help me.
“Leroy?” Alloy answers with his usual playful tone.
“Get here, now!”
“Why?” he asks. I can imagine how odd my requests sounds.
“I need you, man. Get here now,” I urge. We have clashed a lot because of their obsession with Cali, but Alloy is one of the few reasonable hybrids I know and a friend.
“Is everything okay?”
“No, my eternity is at stake. Hurry,” I urge. I hope he can hear my desperation.
Thirty minutes later, Zenith is still clinging on me when Alloy arrives.
He raises his eyebrows when he sees us.
“This is Zenith. Keep her away from me,” I instruct while he looks questioningly at me. I explain everything to him.
“You are defying the mate bond?”
“Yes, and you have to help me.”
“Why should I do that?”
I can hear amusement in his voice.
“Think about it. You do,” I challenge.
I have not processed the part of him being mated to my not even born daughter, but he damn needs me.
“Fine,” he concedes and peels a fighting and kicking Zenith off me.
“Accept the rejection,” he commands Zenith, who defiantly shakes her head.
“I would rather die,” she states and I know that there is nothing I or Alloy can do to force her.
“Keep her away from me, I need to see Cali,” I instruct Alloy, who is happy to. With his inferno, steel and lycan features, he can definitely keep Zenith away.
I drag myself to Cali’s chambers and find her in the bathtub. It feels like a deja vu moment because she tells me to go and I can’t. This is exactly what happened during the red moon, except the pull is not as strong now. It is going to take longer for me to get to her, but I don’t care. I will spend the rest of my life proving myself to her.
I take off my clothes and join her in the tub. She does not even look at me.
“I love you, Cali.”
She ignores me and blows at the bubbles on her hands.
“Zenith is a girl I meet a few years ago. I was so crazy about her, I planned on making her my Luna as soon as I turned eighteen. She disappeared into thin air. I thought she was dead and suspected Diana.”
I explain myself and she still does not respond.
“Babe, I don’t have any control over whom I am mated to but I would rather die than claim another mate.”
She lets out a sigh and finally looks at me. I get closer to her and play with her hair loc.
“Mate bond or not, you are all I need. You are all I will ever need,” I say and cover her lips with mine. Stupid Sky is now thrilled yet I had to fight him from marking Zenith.
I pull Cali to sit on my lap. She wraps her arms around my neck and gasps when I position my manhood inside her.
Water splashes to the floor as we lose ourselves to each other.
“I love you,” I declare before spilling my seeds inside her.
“I love you too, Leroy.”
“But?”
“No buts. I just…”
She has not completed her sentence when a sharp pain rips through me and my heart starts pounding. What the fuck?
“Are you okay?” she asks and this thing intensifies. I get out of the water and hold on to the wall to keep myself from falling.
“It’s your mate. You did not really reject her,” Cali says behind me.
That’s when it dawns on me that Zenith must have felt it when I made love to Cali. This is her revenge.
“She refused to accept my rejection,” I say softly.
“You did not feel the need to tell me that?” Cali is now angry, but I can’t concentrate. My insides feel like they are on fire while being sliced into pieces. I stumble to my clothes and call Alloy.
“Winning?” Alloy asks. I know that he is in the courtyard because I can hear the drums behind him.
“Where is Zenith?”
“I don’t know,” Alloy is too chilled, but I am dying.
“What do you mean you don’t know?” I yell, unable to help myself.
“She ran off when you left,” he tells me.
“I told you to keep her…”
“Away from you, not babysit her,” he completes my sentence.
“Find her, now!” I roar as I quickly get dressed. My heart sinks at Cali’s expression when I head towards the door. I know what this looks like but I can’t think straight, nor can I explain myself until I find Zenith.
I am on the second floor when I hear her screams. I budge in and find her ridding Caleb, Alpha Duncan’s son.
“Hi mate, want to join us?” she asks with an innocent smile and continues to gyrate her hips. Caleb groans and grabs her thighs while I completely lose it. Download Novelah App
