Sable King

 *Leroy POV*
“Are you mad at me?” Gold asks with a squeaky voice the moment Cali drifts off to sleep.
“Can I ever be mad at you?” I respond with a question. She is crazy and all, but I absolutely adore her, and I don’t think even Sky can be mad at her.
“Good, because we have princesses on the way.”
“We do, huh?” I ask, amused. Sky already told me about this when we were in coma.
“Yes, we need to deal with that Alloy,” she says, and I can’t help but laugh.
“I don’t think we have anything to worry about. Alloy is the most ethical man I know. We do need him to keep everyone in check and the pups safe,” I tell her, but she is not convinced.
“Remember how crazy the Lycans got around you and Cali? Someone more powerful than me has got to be around here,” I add. I don’t know how I feel about Alloy being my daughter’s mate one day, but I need him here because he is capable, and I trust him.
“What if he tries stupid stuff with our pups?” Gold asks, raising Sky’s protective side.
“I will kill and bury him,” Sky declares and I can’t help but laugh.
“Alloy is a hybrid, a powerful one,” I remind him, but Sky does not care. “I will kill him if he so much as touches our pups,” he insists.
“Not Alloy,” I say. There is no doubt in my mind that Alloy would never do anything to my pups. His uncle, Neptune, is a different story. That one has even tried to hypnotise Cali.
“Besides, he won’t even know which one of the girls is his mate until they have their Lycans. That is seventeen or more years. His mate might even be our next pups, not them,” I add to the still unconvinced Gold.
“Okay, look. The only reason Cali was safe before her wolf showed up was because no one knew that she was a Lycan. Every Lycan and Alpha out there went crazy when she was ovulating. I and Sky won’t have the power to hold them back when that happens with the girls. Not only will the girls need protection from Lycans, wolfs always try to kill Lycan pups even before they are born. My mate is also going to be vulnerable while pregnant, even worse during labor,” I explain myself and Gold finally gets it. She is all powerful, but she can’t do anything during pregnancy and even worse when in labor. Lycan’s vulnerability is general knowledge.
“It is in Alloy’s best interest to protect us and the pups,” she declares. Now we are on the same page.
“Exactly!”
“He is sitting on the stairway, by the way,” Gold tells me. She has better senses than me. I carefully move Cali and place her head on the pillow before leaving our chambers. I need to speak to Alloy before Cali wakes up.
“My King,” Alloy greets. I am taken aback for a moment before I recall that the one who claims Cali becomes the King of Kings.
I take a seat next to him. “Thank you for your loyalty,” I say sincerely.
“I will not touch them, I swear. Please let me be here for all of you,” he pleads before I can say anything.
“Those are my pups.”
“I know. You have the right to end my life if I do anything stupid. My mother was almost killed giving birth to me. Her inferno features could not help during labor. Please, man,” Alloy pleads. I know all about his almost tragic birth. It is exactly what I was telling Gold earlier.
“And your uncle?” I question. He is loyal to me, but he loves his uncle more.
“Grandma and pa have banned him from coming here. I will die first before he ever gets to them,” he says. I search his eyes and only see honesty in them.
“Okay. I still need to get my mate on board,” I tell him and he is thrilled.
I return to my chambers and lie next to my gorgeous mate. She flips her eyes open when I trace my marks on her neck.
“Seriously?” she questions and I can’t help but laugh. I should have let her sleep, but I could not help myself.
“I miss you.”
She rolls her eyes and gasps when I kiss her neck. A few minutes later we have completely lost ourselves in each other.
“I love you, my queen,” I murmur before spilling my seeds inside her.
“I love you too. Can we sleep now?” she asks with a yawn.
I chuckle before pulling her to my chest and drift off to sleep.
We join Marcus, my pack elders, Alloy and his family downstairs two hours later. I hold my mate’s arm with my heart full.
“Queen of queens. King of kings,” they all greet with their heads bowed. I don’t think I will ever get used to the Lycans bowing to me. I feel something else I have never felt before as they bow. Something is different with me, Sky in particular.
“You have transformed, my Alpha, my King,” the Epsilon says with his head still down. I frown at him while Rufus nods behind him.
“What do you mean?” I ask curiously. Sky is strangely quiet while I feel a pulsating tremendous amount of energy flow through me.
“You challenged the deity and came triumphant. You proved worthy of your mate, Sable king, legendary King of kings,” my Epsilon beams.
“What?”
I question right before Sky takes over, except it’s not Sky or is it?
Pitch black as usual, but he is massive. Bigger than the Lycans. I have never seen anything like this in my entire life.
“Sable king,” Prophet Rufus murmurs. “Golden queen and Sable king. Now I have seen it all,” he adds.
We have all heard about the legendary humongous and all powerful pitch black wolf. I honestly thought it was a fairy tale or someone mistakenly thought a Lycan was a wolf. I was wrong.
My mate approaches and runs her hands over the fur before making eye contact and my heart leaps. Whatever happened to Sky, this massive powerful creature is still him. I still feel everything he does. Cali giggles when he licks her face.
“You are just perfect, mate,” she declares. This woman is my life.
It is an hour later when I get a chance to be alone with my Epsilon. My senses are shaper than before. I have been sensing his agitation. I can even sense his arrival before he shows up.
“Speak your mind,” I command before he shows himself.
“You have been blessed my king.”
“But?” I ask.
“Great power comes with greater responsibilities and even greater tests, my king.”
I frown, processing his words. I don’t care what I have to face as long as I have Cali by my side.
“You still have other mates,” he reminds me and turns away to avoid my eyes.
“My human form is no match for the Sable king wolf I now possess,” I utter his unspoken words and my heart sinks. I was able to overcome Sky and prevented him from marking Zenith. That took everything in me. My wolf is more powerful than the Lycans now. My head is now spinning. One thing rings in my head. I can never lose my mate.
