52: You Treat Me Like A Pest

After buying ice cream from the parlor, Celine and I decide to go to a water park that's nearby because we feel bored. We decide to spend the rest of our day off going out and doing stuff.
We walk hand in hand as we go through the gates of the park. We look around wowed by the different rides there are. We walk around for a while before we decide to sit on one of the benches, watching other people on the rides.
"I wanted to ask you something, Beth." Her face suddenly turns serious.
"What is that?" I ask, my eyebrows creased.
"Well, I know you've been having issues with that guy I always see around you, and I've not asked you before because I was waiting for you to tell me yourself, but you still haven't said anything, so I think it's about time I asked." She said and I move back, not expecting her to say that.
I sigh and think for a while, contemplating whether to tell her or not. I look away from her as she waits patiently for me to talk.
I let out a breath. "Well, I've not told anyone about this because I didn't want them to worry unnecessarily, especially you and Elle. It's something I could handle myself, so I didn't see the need in telling anyone."
"But I still want to know what it is about. You've been going through a lot lately. You were hospitalized for crying out loud and you say you can handle it yourself. Do you have any idea how worried I was?"
"I'm sorry for making you worried, but if you really want to know, I'll tell you." I sigh again before I begin my explanation. "Well, I met Mark a few years ago and really got into him. We hit it off almost immediately and things got really serious between us. I thought that I had found true love, so one day when we were having sex, I asked him to make a video." Celine gasps as I say that.
"He agreed, but after that I completely forgot that I had asked him something like that. After a while, I found out that he was cheating on me with not just one, but many different women. When I confronted him about it, he gave excuses about my job and me cheating on him with different other men." I wave my hands around as I speak.
"So we broke up anyways and I never heard from him after that till the issue with Ted started. You remember that day one strange man came into my house and I asked you to excuse us?" I ask and she nods.
"Yeah, well that's him. He somehow got back the footage of us having sex and completely blurred his face. He started making threats that if I didn't stay away from Ted, he would release the video to the public, so I did, in a bid to protect myself. But apparently that wasn't enough for him."
"He went on to threaten Ted and Elle's lives, telling me that if I didn't go to the news station to slander Ted, he would kill both of them, which I agreed to and did." The look on Celine's face is that of pure shock as she stared at me, her eyes wide.
"That's not even the end. After I did all that, there's this girl, Enid. She's Ted's fiancee. She came to my house threatening me to take back the statement that I said about Ted, but I refused and asked her out of my house. She got angry and all and hired some henchmen to beat me up, and that was how I ended up in the hospital."
"Even after all of this, he still came back to me, wanting to use the tape to blackmail me again, but I told him to release it if he liked and that I would never do what he wanted ever again." I finished and let out a deep breath.
Celine was stuck in her position of a while before moving.
"So you've been going through all of this and you never bothered to tell me?" She looks really offended as she says this.
"I know, I didn't want to bother anyone with my problems, that's all." I say, trying to reason with her.
"But still, what kind of friend would I be if I can't help you in times like this? That's what I'm here for,not support you through times like this. I'm offended that despite all out years of being friends, you still don't trust me enough." She says and I sigh.
"I'm really sorry, Celine. I told you, it's not that I don't trust you. I just preferred not to tell anyone, that's all." I purse my lips, hoping that she would understand me.
"It's fine, I understand now, but of anything like this comes up again please don't hesitate to tell me, okay?" She asks, holding unto my arm that is on the table.
I smile at her and nod my head. " Don't worry, nothing like this will ever happen again."
"But will it be okay? I mean you literally told him to release the tape if he liked, what if he actually does it?" She says and I pull my hands avay from hers and dip them into my pocket.
"I've actually thought about it, but I'd rather he do that than hold my every move and my life in his hands. He literally could make me do anything all this while, but I can't let that happen anymore. I'd be a fool to do that." She nods.
"I just hope this doesn't end badly."
She says and I look away, not wanting to think about it at the moment.
~TED YOUNG~
I groan as loud as I can as Enid clings to my arm as we walk into the water park. She had been annoyingly clingy all week and it was really getting on my nerves. She made my parents force me to go to the park with her just because she was bored.
I really don't know if she doesn't see that I don't like her.
I come up with an idea to lessen my boredom while she was away, trying to buy some ice cream and at least get Enid away from me for a while.
I put my phone out of my pocket and call Theo. It rings for a while before the call connects, but I don't hear any voice, only someone scrambling around.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Oh, hello, Ted." I hear his voice panting.
I frown as I look at the phone before putting it back to my ear.
"Are you okay? Were you working out?"
"Well, if you would call it that." I can hear the smirk in his voice.
"Well, I just called to ask if you would be interested in coming to the water park with me? My parents forced me to come here with this annoying pest, but I don't want to be here with her, so are you interested?"
"I would have loved to help you out, but I am not in town right now, I got out to see my girl. As I haven't seen her in a while." He says and I hear a moan in the background and my mouth drops open.
"Dude, why did you pick the call when you were doing that? That's disgusting." I say, the disgust apparent in my voice.
"Well, it's not my fault. You called while we were in the middle of it, and I thought it was urgent, so I picked up."
"You're disgusting man, get out." I say and cut off the call.
"Dick!" I say to the phone before putting the phone back in my pocket.
I rest my back on the bench watching people on the rides, waiting for Enid to get back. She comes back after a while with two ice cream cones in her hands. She stretches her hand at me, trying to give me one.
I push it away, looking at her, disgust clearly showing in my eyes, but it seems that she still didn't get it, as she was still stretching it towards me.
"I don't want it." I say, raising my voice at her.
"What are you so mean to me?" She says, putting her hand down, the ice cream melting and dropping down her hands.
"You treat me like a pest, when I've done nothing wrong."
That's cause you are.
I roll my eyes and look away from her, not wanting to say anything to her as anything that would leave my mouth would be insulting.
Suddenly, I heard shouts coming coming from a side of the park. I could see a woman pouring her drink over a a waiter's head and screaming at him, while her friend held her back.
I walked closer, because the women kind of look familiar. Enid clings to me as I walk closer. I see the woman holding the other one that poured the drink back and I immediately recognized her as she also looked straight at me.
It was Beth, looking straight at me, her expression changing from worry for her friend to surprise from seeing me.
