Chapter 30

I'm up in the tree near Kairhara's Mansion, it's a huge house. She's so lucky, or at least she should be, but she's not happy because she lost her family. I feel sorry for her, always so lonely. I took out my phone when it rang.
('Go to headquarters, wear your mask. Hurry up, or else you two are f*****g dead. Did you two already know, what I mean. In 3 minutes, you need to be here.') That's the content of the text from Kairhara, and suddenly, I got nervous. She's really scary, even just through text. Knowing she'd do what she said, I quickly went down and immediately called Keys, finding her room without knocking. I didn't knock, just entered.
"Keys, princess is waiting at the headquarters. Wear your mask and hurry up!" I hurriedly said; she just nodded. I left and went to my room, grabbed my things, then quickly went out and knocked on Keys' door again.
"Keys, faster!" I shouted, and we went down. I went straight to the parking lot, started my motorbike. Soon, Keys followed, damn, just 1 minute left. Kairhara really hates it when we're late; I wouldn't be surprised if it rained kunai or bullets when we entered the headquarters. We arrived 1 minute late; we're definitely in trouble. We went in.
"Where is she? I thought she was already here?" Keys asked. Luckily, Kairhara wasn't here yet; otherwise, we'd be dead. I haven't found my 'the one' yet.
"Good th---" Keys couldn't finish her sentence as kunai and bullets started raining down. I dodged as much as I could. Damn, I knew this would happen.
"Fuck!" I heard Keys curse as she got grazed. I returned to dodging, glancing back at Keys because I was worried. I got grazed on the arm, not deep, far from vital organs. After a while, the rain of bullets and kunai stopped.
"Fuck, Kairhara, are you trying to kill us?" I asked angrily, knowing she was hiding somewhere.
"Oh my god, my pretty face got hurt..." Keys complained, being her usual dramatic self.
"Like that!" Kairhara replied and jumped down from the ceiling.
"You're so mean, Kai!" Keys complained.
"Tch, you're late, and you're complaining? Tch..." Kairhara said, entering a private room. We did the same, sitting down as soon as we were inside.
"I called you here because I have something for you to do..." she said, looking serious. They always look serious, right? "I need you to fetch someone. Make sure you bring that person here by 3 pm, got it?" she said seriously, showing us a picture of the girl.
"Noted," we replied, and it didn't seem difficult to get that girl.
"Alright, get moving. Do what I ordered. Clean your wounds first, gotta go!" she said and left the private room.
"Is that it? After almost dying earlier, she says so little?" Keys complained. She's always a complainer.
"So, you'll just complain, and you won't do what she said? I'm easy to talk to. One click on my phone, and Kairhara will know all your complaints..." I threatened, and she visibly paled.
"Fine, I'll do it. You're scary!" she said, starting to tend to her wounds. After cleaning our wounds, we dressed up and left the headquarters.
*Keys pov*
"Gosh! Kairhara is really annoying. My beautiful face got scratched because of what she's making us do. Thankfully, I love her as a friend; otherwise, I might really slap her around twenty times. Just kidding, you might report me, and that's troublesome. I don't want to die early; I prefer to die at night, kidding.
"Tsk. She thinks she's pretty? She looks like a dog!" Dave said while we were waiting for our target to come out. At least, this way, we can get back at Kai for making us endure a rain of bullets and kunai because of the girl she wants us to fetch.
"Really? How did you know?" I asked him, wondering if he could read my thoughts.
"I had gulaman," he replied, so I promptly flicked him. He's such a smart aleck.
"Ouch, why did you flick me? Tsk," he asked, irritated. I peeked through the telescope into our target's house. When I saw her coming out, I immediately called Dave.
"Let's go; she's coming out," I said, jumping down from the tree and heading to the van we would use to get the girl. This girl is so irritating; I swear I'll get back at her. I'll make sure to ruin her face; it almost got destroyed because of her. When our target came out of the house and we saw her waiting for a taxi,
"Come on, hurry!" I said, and Dave drove the van, stopping in front of the girl. Gotcha, now she won't—
The girl didn't finish what she was saying as I covered her mouth with a cloth soaked in a sleeping agent. Good thing it's not poison; she should be thankful. I pulled her into the van, and Dave drove off. When we arrived at the headquarters, we took her to the torture room, tied her hands and feet, and before leaving, I slapped and kicked her a bit, just for good measure.
"Damn it, Keys! Kai will really get back at you for this!"
"I can't help it, I'm so irritated. You won't report me, right?"
"Depends, as long as there's 10,000..."
"You're such a money-minded person!"
"You're the one at fault. Good thing our friendship is pressure-resistant!"
"Heh! Whatever!" I replied in annoyance and slapped him.
Kairhara's POV:
I was sleeping in the tree when I woke up to the ringtone of my cellphone. What the fuck, they changed my ringtone. That girl will really pay for this. I answered the call and saw that it was Keys.
"Hello, Kai! The one you wanted is ready; she's here!" Keys said on the phone.
"Good..." I replied and ended the call. I'm at school now; I went back after talking to those two idiots.
I jumped down from the tree and went to the cafeteria. I bought something to eat and sat down; soon enough, the troublemakers in my life came again. They won't stop approaching me.
"Hi, Miss Konaide!" Monteverde greeted me. They're bothering me again. I didn't look at him and just continued eating. "Hmm... what club are you joining for the school fest?" Clarence asked.
"I don't know," I replied.
"Miss, don't you want to be friends with us?" Lay asked.
"We're nice," Clarence added. Why are they so persistent? I don't want to be friends with them because I don't want them to get involved in my messed-up life. They might become the reason I fail.
"Which part of what I said don't you understand? I don't need friends; you'll just be a hindrance in my life!" I said and left the cafeteria.
