Chapter 13- Acquaintance Party
Students poured on the event hall wearing red clothing as the party's dress code. There were some wearing different color of shirts, but that is only considerable for the performers. Me, on the other hand, I paired my red shirt with a high-waisted pants. I bunned my hair but didn't hesitate to put makeup on my face.
Like the usual, I fetch Shaine from their house, and we went to school together. She is excited about the event, that's why we are two hours advance compared to the call time. I got bored after I realized how long will we wait before the party starts?
“What makes you so excited?” I can't help but to ask. I'm not even excited, though there are no classes for the whole day.
“The dance performance of the handsome cutie boys.” Shaine thrilled like what she always does.
“But it's still early. I can't believe that we became early birds.”
“Better early than late,” she chuckled, still bringing her hand mirror everywhere she goes.
“Same word to say if we came late. Better late than never,” I said, wandering my eyes around the event hall. Many seats are still unoccupied as we paced toward the first row of chairs.
I love the music playing on the speakers right now. It was so lively that will make you feel the party vibes. Special credits to the disc jockey who is responsible for playing the music and serving us with the best songs.
The theme of this party is red and white. The stage is decorated with white balloons. I secretly read the words “ACQUAINTANCE PARTY” attached in a Metallic Black Foil Curtain surrounded by glitters and lights on the side. There were long tables at the other side of the hall where foods are displayed. I was somehow proud that our group prepared all of those, at least we are behind the success of this simple party.
I can say that the club's effort in making this party possible was not wasted at all. I can tell it from the students face that they are all excited and delighted to attend.
“I have missed attending to events in this school. Oh, look! Those letters are cute… I love the calligraphy.”
A voice coming just a little away from us suddenly caught my attention. That was cute. But there's another reason as to why it caught my gaze. It's because the voice is familiar.
Shan and Marga.
Their hands are intertwined.
I stiffened.
I gulped.
Why are they together? Are they good already?
“I think someone's hurt right now,” my companion murmured, but I actually heard it.
“Are you pertaining to me?” My eyes rolled to her. I mean it's already obvious, why still have to inform me?
“Oh yes, my dear.” She then leaned close to me and started pointing the two using her lips. “I smell something fishy about them. Smells like a comeback? Well, I'm not sure.”
“Stop saying things like that.” I look down on the floor to avoid having a glance at them. Glad they already walked away after I lifted my gaze up.
“Because you're hurt? Poor you, Ari. If only you know how to let go, then you shouldn't be feeling this pain in your chest. I told you that maybe it's about time to let go of Shan and consider getting close to Raven.”
My brows knitted after hearing the name I don't want to hear. “Let's not talk about him.”
I just don't want to let him go. That's the truth, and sorry if it's hard for me to fight that.
“Ladies and gentlemen, kindly settle down because any moment from now we will start the program,” the emcee announced on the mic, getting all our attentions.
For the acquaintance party, our club has agreed to make a program where the skilled students can showcase their talents in front of the crowd. There's no literal party like liquor, but there will be a disco after lunch wherein students can dance as free as they want. In the morning, we will be seeing different performances from the dear students. Lunch is shouldered by the class advisers, and it will be held by section.
Just a few minutes after the emcee spoke on the mic, we immediately began the ceremony.
“A pleasant morning to each and every one! Before we finally start our program, I want to thank everyone first for coming. We are gathered today to celebrate our acquaintance party in the direction of our dear MathSci club. This day is held to celebrate one's unity and to give students the opportunity to showcase their talents as well. I hope this day will be memorable and successful. Thank you!”
A round of applause followed after the school principal stated her short greeting for us. After shaking hands with the honorable guests and teachers on the stage, the emcee immediately proceeded to the next point of the program, which is the showcasing of talents.
“We just heard a very valued greeting from our dear school principal. Now is the moment to finally welcome everyone with the dance presentation of our very owned dance troupe! A round of applause, please.”
Defeaning cheers and claps could be heard right now at this moment as the said dance troupe came out from the backstage. They are uniformed in black shirt paired down with a black ripped jeans. How fierce! Their chosen outfit told everyone that they will going to create chaos.
And it was indeed big chaos because the students won't stop from screaming now. I even have to cover my ears because I'm afraid I might be a deaf after.
“This is what I meant when you asked me what makes me excited,” Shaine whispered while taking a video. She just can't let this thing end without her saving it in her gallery.
“You a bitch I swear,” I replied, eyes glued on the stage where the dance troupe is performing.
“Well, I'm not going to deny that.”
The very fierce performance was followed by a dance number coming from the class advisers. For their presentation, they had a dance compilation featuring the newest TikTok trends. That was a savage performance indeed.
“Thank you, our dear teachers for that fantastic performance. Now, let's move forward to another dance number coming from the students who are behind the success of this event, the MathSci club!”
A round of applause illuminated the event hall when the members of the group climbed on the stage, all wearing a red dress. It was the dear girls of the club together with our most honorable president, Thea. They asked me and Shaine weeks before the final event if ever we want to join the dance practice, but we said no. I'm not into dancing, but I don't know what was Shaine's reasons for not joining them. I mean, she loves dancing.
The beloved girls of our dear club are a fun of K-pop that's why they are performing the LaLisa dance right now. Their moves are cute in the eyes and I enjoyed watching them here in my seat. Maybe we are told by the wind not to join them because if we did, we will not be able to witness them dancing. It's better to seat here in front of what they are performing because you will have a clear view of what was going on.
“LaLisa!” The music stopped as the girls turned around, right hand raised while the left one is placed on their waist. They made their own choreography of the dance, but it's still great.
“Congratulations for that, Thea! I love the dance!” Shaine approached her when another performers occupied the stage. “I took a video of your performance. Would you want to have a copy?”
“A copy? Of course, I'd love to!” Thea smiled as I stared on her eyelashes. She applied a mascara on it, that's why she looks great twice than her aura.
“Yeah, I'll send it later on your Gmail account.” Shaine returned to her seat after she had a talk with our president.
“You should have joined them during the dance practice,” I said. I still have to lean close and speak near her ear because it's so noisy right now and she might not be able to hear me.
“I'm not in the mood to join the practice, Ari.”
I got confused. “But why? I thought you love to dance.”
She only replied a smile and returned her gaze on the stage.
My forehead creased as I watched the junior high students performing.
“Thank you very much, students! At this moment, we will be hearing a song number coming from one of our very owned young singer. Ladies and gentlemen, let's give it up for, Raven Jesner!”
My eyes widened in surprise after hearing his name on the mic. Oh, I didn't see this coming. Is he a singer too? Music is not visible on his face. I thought he is only capable of showing a smile to people and annoying them as well.
The crowd yelled in excitement as the girls thrilled when he came out from the backstage bringing a guitar. He is wearing a navy-blue suit and his hair is fixed. The wide smile there in his lips is still visible even in a far distance. Its bright shoned, completely blinding my eyes.
“Before I finally let you guys hear this song that I originally composed, allow me to dedicate this first to a special someone who made my smile so far. This someone is the reason of my happiness. So, if ever you're listening right now, I want you to know along with the students here that you're special and that you are worth the love.”
His voice is heard on the speakers as I tried to divert my attention somewhere. The fast beating of my heart told me to do so.
What's going on there in your head, Ari? Just relax!
“I had a feeling that the song's dedicated to you,” Shaine whispered as she kept on cheering him.
“I don't think so.”
Thea was on full support as she climbed in the stage to hold the mic for Raven. We can't hear it when he strummed the guitar, that's why he needs someone to assist him on the stage and that's our dear president. So basically, the emcee has to give him two microphones. One for the guitar and one for his singing.
“Arianna Adisson, this one's for you,” he mentioned, causing the students to shout. They are thrilled, like hey, why are you guys acting that way?
If he thought I'd appreciate him because he mentioned my name in front of the crowd, then he's wrong. He acts stupid as shit, plus his face is really thick.
“Confirmed! The song's dedicated to you. Girl, why hair so long, hmm?” Shaine giggled, waiting for the weirdo stupid guy to sing.
I only rolled my eyes as Raven started strumming on his guitar.
No one can predict destiny
Nor I know if you're for me
There is no guarantee
But that won't stop me, no
Do you know that you're priceless?
Do you know how rare you are?
Do you know that you're special?
Gorgeous, make me smile.
I love you my dearest, Please say you love me too
I wanna take care of you
Please let me be your man
His voice is as cold as ice. The moment I listen to it, feels like I'm drowned and lost in between the lyrics and the verse. I hate to admit, but he really had a talent. A talent that I don't usually give a damn. Music is not my thing, and I'm not even interested in it, but every time I hear someone singing, it caught my heart.
You don't have to seek attention
I'll give it to you
Don't have to beg
The right guy will love you
Accidentally, my eyes drifted to him as he was singing. Then suddenly, his gaze landed on me to. Our eyes met and lingered for some seconds. My heart thudded fast as he slowly showed his smile.
I love you my dearest
Please say you love me too
There's just something about his smile that made me stunned. I can't believe he made a song for me.Download Novelah App
