Chapter Fifty nine- Abort That Child
Sheila’s POV.
She was trying all she could to hide her fear so then engaging us in a conversation to keep our minds off the situation at hand but then, the conversation was going somewhere. Lydia was feeling uncomfortable, so she excused herself and Aaron’s mom muttered,
“Kids of nowadays, will they ever learn from their elders mistakes?
You know I was very young when I gave birth to Aaron, his father was a loving man but suddenly one day he packed his bags and left. Later we found his body a few meters away from our house. Whatever happened and the reason he left, it has been left unknown till now. ”
She said sobbing and also added,
“I couldn’t even get his name added to mine, so Aaron’s second name is illegal. He has always thought that we were married and I’ve never argued with him over it, I want him to keep believing that. I know you wouldn’t tell him that’s why I’m saying this, I’ve always wanted to say this to someone. ”
“Your secret is save with me, and Aaron he’s going to be fine. ” I said assuredly.
“Yes you are right? He is my whole world you know? And I want him to be the happiest all his life on earth. I would do anything I can to make that come to pass. ” she said.
“Yes I understand. ” I said and the person that came to my mind was King.
“Advice her not to abort that child, he or she might be her only happiness in her old age. ” she said.
“Who are you talking about mum?” I asked.
“Your friend, Lydia she’s pregnant. ” she said.
“What? She’s pregnant with who?”
I asked surprised.
She was about to speak when the door suddenly opened revealing the doctors. He looked at us and asked,
“You are his family?”
“Yes we are. ” she said surprising me but I let it go.
“He has being injured badly but he will be fine after he has been carefully attended to. We will take him to the men’s ward that’s where he will be monitored. Who will be signing the papers. ” said the doctor.
“I will, my dear please be with him till I return. Is he awake?” she asked.
“No he hasn’t woken, he will be in maybe an hour time. ” replied the doctor.
“Okay I will be done by that time. Please don’t leave his side till I return. ” said his mother.
“I won’t. ” I promised.
A few minutes later, and he was pushed out of the room on the stretcher. He looked as if he was sleeping with so much comfort. A tear dropped out of my eye and I cleaned it up. I accessed my feelings at the moment and only felt sympathy towards himself. I felt confused, if it wasn’t he I was in love with then who? But I wasn’t ready to cut the line just like that. He was pushed to the room and I sat on a chair beside him and watched him sleep.
A little while and I felt restless, I still hadn’t heard from King and I was beginning to feel worried. A few minutes later and I called his line again but it took me straight to voicemail. I looked at the picture saved as my wallpaper and felt sad, we were just laughing and playing together yesterday but here we were with him ignoring my calls.
I took my ear piece to listen to music not intending to disturb Aaron, I listened to several music but Aaron wasn’t waking and neither was his mother coming. I stood up and walked around with both the worry of Aaron and King on my mind. I couldn’t believe it was I that swore to make men suffer for the pain coursed me and here I was wondering about not one but two of them.
Three hours time and I had fallen asleep from exhaustion. Then I felt someone poking my head and calling my name timidly.
I jolted up and saw that I had actually kept my head on the bed and sat down on the chair but eventually fell asleep. Aaron took my hand and I smiled widely to him, he shook his head and asked,
“Why am I still sleeping?”
“Hey you are not, I can see you unless I am dreaming too. ” I said.
He closed his eyes and said dreamingly,
“Then let’s not wake up please, I want you this up close where I can touch you and feel you like this forever. But that could never happen right? You will eventually leave because I will have to wake up. ”
I smiled to him and said,
“I’m not leaving to anywhere, you are my friend and you will forever be. ”
He smiled bitterly and left my hand and muttered,
“It’s so painful this way, you don’t have to be my friend. ”
I thought he was joking so I only smiled.
He looked around and asked,
“Where is my mom? I remember I called Lydia, why isn’t she here? Where is Lucky?”
“I don’t know about Lydia and Lucky at the moment but your mom, she went to sign the papers a few hours ago and haven’t returned. I couldn’t leave you alone so now that you’ve waken can I go and look for her? I will call the doctor on my way to examine you. ” I replied confused as he was.
“Okay thank you. ” said Aaron.
I left the room and went to the doctors station and told him, he was awake and asked him where Aaron’s mom was. But he told me she had finished signing the papers long ago and should have returned to the room.
“If so then where is she?” I asked confused……
