Chapter sixty
-Argument
King’s POV
I had an argument with Sheila, and I knew it was my fault. I shouldn’t have said that to her after she refused me. I didn’t know why she still doubted the love I had for her. I was traveling without informing her because I was too angry to inform her about my traveling plans and as I sat in the airplane. I thought about her ailment and her deteriorating health, she was getting worse by day but she had no idea.
I had searched with credible sources to find people who could donate their brain for the operation but we didn’t find anyone who was dying but had a good functioning brain. So the reason for me traveling to another country, I had asked people to have the search done for me but it was taking too much time. And looking at her loosing her life everyday became too difficult for me to handle hence my traveling.
You could call it I am running away from the pain and I will accept it in good faith. I hated the feeling of loosing someone who is dear to me. If the surgery failed, it would be over loosing her forever, the ten best doctors in the continent I had selected all didn’t deny the fact that it was 50-50 success rate. But I wasn’t ready to give up my love for anything in the world even if it took all my the wealth I had accumulated on earth.
Aaron’s POV
I had to act fast to be free from suspicions from my uncle and to save Sarah’s life. So I kept plans in place and as I thought about it, I saw the only way was the risky way. So I planned to be shot by me which was to let someone dress like me ‘Worst Enemy’ to shoot me. Everything was going perfectly till that person decided to shoot the left side of my chest instead of the right side. It was planned otherwise and as to whether my plan was leaked or not, I didn’t know. The call to Lydia was already recorded and all I had to do was press a button to place the call as if it was current. I lost consciousness after being shot right after I pushed the button and whoever it was that took me to the hospital, I didn’t know.
I woke up to see Sheils by my side sleeping, and my dream came through, she was the first person I wanted to see after waking up and it came to pass. But all she said, after waking up was that I was just her friend and I will forever be. Who wanted friendship? I wanted to be more to her but I couldn’t dare to do that because I had always felt guilty for what happened to her. I noticed we were alone and I wondered where my mom was and she had told me she went to sign the papers and was yet to return.
Then offered to go and look for her after informing the doctor that I was awake. And I agreed, she left and I laid on the bed reminiscing about my life till the doctor came to check in me. A few minutes later, she returned and said,
“I looked everywhere for mom and went to the receptionist to be told she had gone out earlier and hadn’t returned.”
“Okay, you are angel, she might have gone home to pick something up. ” I insinuated.
She shrugged and sat back down on the chair then took her handbag and took her phone out. She looked through it hurriedly and muttered to herself,
“This man hasn’t still called back? What’s wrong with him?”
I looked at her every move and pried,
“Are you expecting a call?”
She smiled at me and answered
“Yes please, I am expecting a call, I wonder what happened.”
“Your mom what do you think is more important that she had to go home when she didn’t even see your face after the surgery before leaving?”
I knew she was trying to skip the topic and I also didn’t pry further to avoid any heartache.
“I don’t know either, whatever that is must be very important. And why is Lydia and Lucky not here? I thought I called Lydia before loosing consciousness. ” I asked confused.
“Yes you did and she was the one that informed us about this but Lydia felt quit sick in the hospital that she had to leave first. As for Lucky, I don’t know the reason for his absence. They…” she was going to say something but stopped.
“You were about to say something?” I probed.
“Ah no I was saying I would stay here until your mom comes back after all I promised her that. ” she said still looking through her phone.
“You did what?” I asked.
“I promised your mom I would be here until she came back from wherever she was going. ” she quipped in.
“What exactly did she tell you?” I asked.
“She said something like, ‘please don’t leave his side until I return okay?’ yeah that was what she said. ” she recounted.
“If so what do you think about this after all she said?” I appealed not wanting to believe my thoughts.
She shook her head and said,
“What? It couldn’t have been possible right? She wouldn’t will she?”
