Heaven's Point of View
"You're worrying me now, Heaven. Do you need help? I can recommend to you some therapist who would help you heal with what traumatic experience you just experienced" Eliziah suggested. I hate people now, I feel so pitiful when I'm really not. I don't need help and sympathy because I'm not the victim here.
"Just stop worrying about me. That's so easy for my parents so you should try and do that too" I said. I know that I'm being harsh towards her but my heart is just heavy right now that I couldn't find any joy.
"That's so easy for them but how about those people who truly care for you. Your sister went to me and told me that you really haven't eaten when you left home and now you always don't eat what I share with you" She said. I don't have any appetite to eat.
I picked my things and started walking away from there. It's been two weeks since Swan died. She was buried at the public cemetery but the investigation is still going on. I don't know why even if there's a surveillance camera in the park, they didn't even investigate it.
I just went to the library to read something. I need to review for the upcoming exam that will happen tomorrow but I don't have any energy left. I just want to die right now so that the misery would stop.
I picked two books and went to the vacant table. I was reading without understanding any words, my eyes were heavy and I didn't notice that I dozed off. I woke up when someone tapped my shoulder.
"You already missed your subject because you're dozing off here" He said and sat down. If I missed my subject, then I guess he missed his too.
"I don't care about you so why do you care about me, huh?" I spoke harshly at him. He looks at me with a grin on his face.
"Let's just say I was your saviour. I was a senior here and just like you, I also have a miserable life. I failed and failed even how hard I tried and I just gave up because I'm tired, "he said. I felt that no matter how hard I try to get up someone would push me more to the ground.
But I don't know who he is. And even if we have the same miserable life doesn't mean I need to trust him. People seems like bad luck to me so I can't trust no one but me and my loved ones.
"Get lost" I simply said and stood up picking my things. I want to rest but there's always a person who would really come to my life and plan to fuck it up.
My hungriness strikes. I kept ignoring it and starving myself to death but I just really can't. I decided to waste what my dad gives me and buy something at the cafeteria. I buy spaghetti and eat it. I ended up in tears because it was the favourite food of Swan. I wipe my tears and just eat the spaghetti.
After that I just decided to cut my class for today and went home. It was really draining and I don't know a place to stay except this house.
"Police department says that they are now closing the case of Swan" Alona loudly said when she got home. I was bothered by the news so I stood up from lying in bed.
"What? That's absurd!" I said. Oh, my parents got home and are now drinking water as if the news haven't bothered them.
"Aren't you going to do anything by now?" I said stuttering.
"Well, Swan's been having a lot of attention right now. That should be enough for her. She could die in peace with that attention" My dad utter. It was the most unbelievable statement that I've heard from him.
"What? You couldn't give her a decent life and now you couldn't even give her the justice! Dad, your child has been murdered and raped! Do something for Pete's sake!" I shouted.
"Your dad's right, Heaven! The attention that she gain is enough justice! We won't waste any money just for that thing" My mom said.
They were truly monsters! They don't have a heart. And my sibling was just a thing for them? How could they? I got my things including my uniform and school bag. I also get my saved-up money. Alona also does the same without me telling her. I would prefer to leave this house with her and good thing, she also thinks the same.
"Oh, so now you two useless brats are leaving! Haha let's see where you guys can go without us" My dad said. I just stared for them one last time. That faces their making right now wouldn't be the same faces I want to see the next time I would see them and I swear that to God.
Alona and I leave the house. I stared at that house and all I could feel was hatred. I hate my parents and if ever someone speaks that they are still my parents, I would throw my hands at them.
"I would really be a Lawyer and open the case of Swan" Alona determinedly says. I'm proud of her and I would do my best for her dreams to come true.
"But for now we should find a motel near your school so that we can have a place to stay" I said. I count the money that I've saved and I think it's enough for a couple of days. I should find a job that would help us.
"I also have saved-up money. We can go to a motel nearby the police station" She suggested and gave me her saved-up money. I smiled at her, we're really sisters and that we share the same traumas in life.
I followed her suggestion and check-in to that motel. It was so cheap that we could afford a month's stay just by looking at the price but I know we weren't safe here. We should move to an apartment nearby my school.
"I would just go to the police station. You should stay here, Alona" I said when I'm done releasing my things in bed. She nodded in response and I went out.
When I went to the police station, Lawrence and Eliziah were there. I think they've just heard the news and just got out after the class. I passed by them and went to the police that I've seen working at my sister's case.
"You could've done better! You didn't even check the surveillance camera that is literally there! You should know by now the person who did that to my sister! You fucking useless police!" I lash out in front of him. I was immediately stopped by Lawrence.
"Miss, we've done everything and whatever you're saying right now is a type of harassment" The police says. Lawrence was the one who apologised on behalf of me and grabbed me. I didn't want to apologise for what I said but he intervened again.
He grabbed me and placed me where Eliziah was waiting. I gave him a glare once he let me out. Eliziah spoke "I've got the evidence which is the surveillance camera and I think my family has the connection to open the case again and filed the case against the murderer that has been caught in the camera."
"But it would take a lot of money" I looked down when I said that. If I'm being realistic, it wouldn't be just a connection nowadays, if someone had a connection and you're poor they wouldn't look through it.
"Then we should upload it to social media and make it viral," Lawrence suggested. It was a great suggestion.
"Wait, I haven't checked that surveillance camera. May I see?" I asked and Eliziah told me that we need to go to their house so that she can put it on her computer so we did. When we got through their house, Eli put the USB on her computer and let me watch.
As I was looking through the camera, the person is really evident in the camera so why would they close it unless that person is a wealthy person who pays for the case to closed. But he was somehow familiar to me like I've seen the stance before.
"What? That is him. All this time, I—" I couldn't even form a statement. That would probably be him.
"What's wrong? Do you know this guy?" Lawrence asks. I know him because I talked to him. I told Eli to give me the USB and she just gave it without hesitation. I need this evidence because this would unravel the truth.
I went to the motel with Lawrence accompanying me. He even insists on buying a fast food meal for me and Alona. Now, I owed something to him that I just gave in because he's so annoying.
Now, I have the evidence with me. I'm going to plan the things that I need in order to defeat this guy who did horrible things to my sister and I swear that even if it was hard, I won't give up and I promised Swan to give her justice.
