Heaven's Point of View
"You're not the one who drove me home?" I surprisingly said to David once he got here in this space worriedly. My brain feels so heavy that I can't carry it. I promised myself that I won't ever drink again as I regret it now.
"I'm really not, I have an emergency and when I come back you're not there anymore so I worry for you" He explains. I somehow just shrugged it off and want to forget it. I got home safely so I can't worry for myself.
The whole internship was a lot frustrating and exhausting. I'm so tired of managing all the fast food chains in different branches for the whole year. Even in my sleep, I was calculating inventory and sales.
"Congratulations! We're now facing reality!" David congratulated me too early. We're just practising for our graduation rites that's going to be held next week.
"Well, it was going to be more hard in reality as we're going to just calculate inventory and sales and even when we're sleeping, we're still going to make our inventories," I said and even jokingly made a disappointed face.
"Haha true! But still we're not going to make PDFs and documents for the report and we're not going to wake up early because CEOs have their time in their hands that's why I also choose this course" He said.
"But we're not successors so we're going to start from the scratch so we still need to wake up early so wake up to reality also, David" I said. He bursts out laughing and that make me laugh too.
We practised and did our best to follow the instructions. They really make sure that our rites would be perfectly executed. I don't have plans to start a business yet, I need to have funds to build one first so I need a job to fund my business. I plan to be a financial advisor first or marketer. I don't want to be a Sales Manager anymore because I want to explore my field.
"Happy Graduation! Congratulations to my sister, Heaven for graduating!" Alona surprised me. She didn't tell me that she would come here so I didn't prepare anything. She was with her boyfriend now. The guy was true to his word but I was still strict on him so he would be challenged.
"You didn't tell me that you would come! I should've prepared!" I said to her and let them enter the space. I would be still here while I'm applying for the position that I want, fast food chain companies really approach me well. They tell me to pass my requirements as they want me to work on them.
But I have a different plan ahead. I'm going to apply at Lawrence's company, they messaged me through email and even told me that they have an available position in the marketing team and they would increase my salary double than the usual. I take this as an opportunity since they are the one who offers it.
That's what I do right after graduating. I just passed all the requirements needed to them and the day after that, I just received an email stating that I'm hired and can start by tomorrow. It sounded so wrong as there's no interviews happening but I just shrugged it off since I wouldn't be too long. If I would get enough money to fund my business, I would resigned immediately.
"Hi, I'm your senior here. I'm glad to see you now Miss Hintaña. So let me take you on tour on this company as it was the pledge of oyr CEO" She said. Well, that was weird and confusing. Is it really that necessary in the company?
"Uh, I don't really find it necessary to have a tour on the whole company. I just need to look for my work place and I'm okay" I said awkwardly to her. But she shook her head instantly.
"Oh no! Our CEO wants to warm welcome the newly hired employee in this company. He also wants to meet you later after I take you on tour" She explains. Well, that was more confusing and weird for me but I think it was just a part of their culture in this company.
She tour me from the floor one down to the basement where the parking lot of the company cars are there up to the floor fifteen where there's the CEO office. Our marketing team place are just on second floor so I don't find it that necessary to go up here but I think it would be because I'm going to submit reports for the CEO.
When we got on the CEO office, my senior immediately excuse herself so we were just left with Lawrence who's the CEO of the company. It was an awkward atmosphere as he was all smiles why I was just staring at him.
"Your culture here is very weird and I'd like to ask why?" I start the conversation. I was really confuse and itching to ask the CEO why is it like this.
"Well, it was just a culture for you. I want to please you so the question is are you pleased?" He said. I don't get it, my brain stops working for a while. Huh?
"Can I start my work now and stop wasting it on this nonsense conversation, Mr. Ilagan" I just ignore what he asks because this was just a waste of time for me.
"Fine. I'm so glad you enter my place" He said and even accompany me to the exit of his office.
I went down to the second floor using the elevator. I don't have thoughts running to my brain but just want to finish my shift and earn money to fund my business so I could get away with him.
And the day passed by almost immediately. I was really bored as the senior didn't give me much of a workloads and I'm just waiting for my shift to end when I finished doing those things.
It wasn't tiring but I don't want to last long in this company. I feel like I didn't had the opportunity to explore on my skills more and if I'm going to stay here, I'm missing out the chance to show my credibility.
My first day of he shift ended and I went home. Eli texted me to invite me for an overnight in their house as it was our celebration for having a job now. I said sure because I'm going to tell her this story.
"No phones on the elevator" I glance on who just speak and it was Lawrence. I unwillingly turn off my phone as I reminded myself that he was somehow the CEO of this company and he needs to be respected.
"How are your first day in this company?" He asks me. "It was boring like your personality" I simply said. He just laughed on that.
After that, the elevator opened and as soon as it was open I immediately went out and ran to the exit of this company as soon as possible. I went to Eli's house with nothing, she would willingly give her clothes to me so I don't need to get one. I was also tired of going home and I just want to tell Eli what happens.
"What? Really? Haha" That's what I got from her. She advised me not to do that again because I need the salary and that would benefit me. She even said that I should just let him be so I can still get the money.
As the next day passed, I got a lot of workload. My senior gave me tons and tons of work that I couldn't even think that it was overtime for my shift. I just finished my shift at midnight where I'm just the one who stays at our workplace. What I did would be my dream as I was restless.
"Hi, can I get you home now Miss Hintaña? It's midnight now and it's dangerous for women to go home just by themselves" Lawrence said as he was in his own car. He's getting on my nerves again but I reminded myself to focus and withdraw your sword because you're still weak to fight back.
"Okay" I said and gave him my genuine smile. Well, I'm not the one who offers it so I'm going to grab it like it's an opportunity.
"Now that we're not in the company anymore so I'm going to ask you 'How are you?" He asks me while driving.
"Just as you imply, we're no longer a CEO and employee so I can talk unprofessionally and now you don't have the rights to talk to me now" I coldly response.
I wouldn't forget about that day where I swear that he can no longer speak to me about personal matters. I'm just going to talk with him if that's for work because I'm professional. I wouldn't let my personal problem deals with my work so he can also do the same.
