The trip to the island was short. Stanley and Byul stayed there for a night and when the next morning came, the two prepared to leave again. There were only few folks with them in the island and judging by the location of the place. The island is one of the safe zones.
But since their main objective is not to stay safe and hide away. The two decided to leave the next day.
Byul smiled faintly, he felt a bit uneasy but since the trip to the island. He never had the chance to speak with Stanley and even if there are, he wouldn’t talk to him anyways. He’s also grateful that Stanley didn’t bother around him so he’s mood was really good.
Today, their next destination will be the mainland. After asking around about ye signs of the drug whereabouts, Byul was very certain that the island was oblivious to the outside world. Just like the one they lived in before…
Though, he was slightly discouraged because none of the people here knows about the current situation outside. They didn’t even encounter a person coming out and the Islanders did say that only few come and go and they’re simply one of them. He was a bit compelled by that.
Since information is scarce, the two of them need to figure things out on their own. He did remember that guy he met in the apartment building seems to know something but since he already left there, he don’t know what to do next.
If only he has a certain clue…
Stanley eventually called him to the boat. Byul just shrugged and went inside the yacht. He look around for a bit and saw that Stanley install a few things. He put the lights on and install a few fan inside.
After he finishes his inspection, Byul finally went inside the control room. He was then given a bag of potato chips and saw Stanley eating the same thing. Byul sighed a deep sigh. They haven’t eaten a thing since the day before and if he didn’t end up seeing the bag of potato chips in his hand, he wouldn’t even realize that he was hungry. Byul just shrugged and start munching on the chips.
Stanley then turned to him and said: “Where did you go the night before?”
Back then, he was so anxious and angry that he didn’t have the time to ask Byul but since they need to get a hang of things, exchanging few information doesn’t sound so bad. Stanley didn’t hear him reply but since he would stick with him anyway, he didn’t hide what he know and just threw his words out.
“I heard from the soldiers before that the apocalypse started two weeks ago and judging by the time frame, it still haven’t spread that far yet. Only few people know what’s really happening and they hinted that some illegal drugs were used to treat some abnormal patients in the hospital.”
“So the cause was really a drug?”
Byul hesitantly asked. He was still uncertain about the cause but since he saw how the insanity unfold with his very eyes. He had some suspicions in the drug. Though there’s no evidence and they couldn’t get a hold of what drug is being used to cause such hysterical behavior. He still want to find out.
If only they could get a hold of the drug then it would be easier. But where will he find some though? The previous bar he went from was already wrecked and infested with zombies. Even if he want to, he don’t know where to find it. He was completely clueless.
“Before, there were soldiers gathering people and I happened to passed by, they didn’t even ask my name and just handed me an entrance card. It was a gay bar and I thought it was funny at first but then the situation turned a bit unexpected.”
“You went to a GAY bar…?”
Stanley, in a wrinkled brows was a bit surprised. Of all the words he said, that’s the only thing clear to him. Blame it on his filtered ears that only allow things he wanted to hear. But t-that, he really didn’t anticipated that.
“Haah…”
Byul rolled his eyes, disgusted by the fact that he have to slip that out. In such extent, he doesn’t care about the image he portrayed in Stanley’s mind so even if he did see him in a certain way, he’ll never felt bothered.
“There’s a few topics there so I heard a lot but since the whole place is too dark, I only saw a bit.” Byul profoundly explained as he tried to recall the recent event in his mind. Some are vague memories and the dark moments of his life always crept inside making him shudder just by the thought of it. Byul thought deep in his heart and barely squeezed out an idea. “They’re giving drugs to random people. If only we knew the next place they’ll be in. I’m sure we’ll find out more.”
Stanley was silent for a while. Listening to him talk somehow made him feel a weird itch in his heart. He never got the chance to make a normal conversation with him before but now, when he listened to his voice, he could recall the soft sounds he make when he’s under him. Just hearing his normal voice could led his mind astray and the urge to dominate him keeps crawling back up. Stanley swallowed, his throat felt a bit parch and he felt a little hot.
He never thought he’d recall such emotion in times like this. He felt bothered but thankfully he managed to suppress the feeling in his heart. He turned his head away, afraid that he’d jump on him at any moment. It’s just like they say, you saw nothing you feel nothing and at least, to him, they’re effective enough.
After calming himself, Stanley slowly squeezed out the words in his mouth. “We can try those shady place. I bet they’re more likely to show up there.”
“Just so you know. I’m not stepping inside those places anymore.”
Byul coldly reminded him. Recalling the experience he had first-hand left his heart boiling with rage. Those kind of place, even if he was a very outgoing freak and an undeniably frivolous person. He would never ever dare to cross the other side of the bridge. Just thinking about the result of his carelessness and stupidity made him feel rather disappointed with himself. Anyways, even if the world is ending and that kind of place is the only shelter left behind, he still won’t enter it.
“Fine.”
