18. Do I know you?

With her head low, she was sitting on the hospital bed while closing her eyes and sensing the loneliness. Upon crying her heart out, she felt so empty. She started humming her favorite song which was entitled 'Hann' (Alone). It's been 6 years since the last time she remembered this song, it made her feel relaxed.
She arose on the bed when she heard loud voices from outside of the room. The room was wide open so she could still see what's happening in the hallway. Her eyes grew wider when she saw some hospital nurses and custody. She froze on her way when her eyes took a glimpse of a bloody body on the stretcher, it was the body of a young girl wearing swimwear, bathing in its blood. The nurses were panicking upon seeing the being.
Considering that she's curious, she gradually got out of her room and watched the commotion in the hallway. "Is she dead?" Dorothy Scott whispered and slowly shook her head. She wanted to take a walk and come by the emergency room but she knows that the doctors and nurses won't let her.
She went back to her bed and sat down again. Dorothy was staring at the plain wall of the four corners of the room and she waited for a few hours. It was noon when she decided to leave her room to go to the woman she had been gawking at.
Previously, she asked her nurse about the patient, even though the sitter was a little nervous, she told her which hall. It was located in room 471, 2nd floor of the hospital building. The nurse wanted to know why she was unexpectedly interested. She was assigned to watch over Dorothy so she knew she had a mental problem due to the generated trauma. They don't know what she's capable of.
"Hmm, I think she's having her rest." Dorothy Scott whispered as she walked deliberately, she hadn't yet reached the front where the elevator was located.
Her wounds have not recovered yet, and with every step and move she's making, it feels as if her skin were tearing apart because of how the fresh cuts cover her shell. It took minutes before she successfully reached the 2nd floor of the building, the hallway was quiet and dire yet she managed to keep on walking as she searched for room 471, she started to hum her valued song likewise while unhurriedly strolling)l along the dark lane. Similarly to a patient who sneaks out every night to scare the other clients around.
She walks like a lifeless being, feeling very empty. "What made you come up here?" A nurse asked when they met in the way, probably a random nursemaid from the base. He was carrying a tray filled with syringes, it appears that it came from the room she had been peeking for, it was already in front of him and he noticed many custody officials on guard.
"Uh, I'm going to that room," Dorothy replied with a low voice, she shifted her gaze, avoiding looking at the nurse in front of her.
"Oh, be careful Scott. Head back to your room right away, take a rest and I'll deliver some medicine later."
Dorothy slowly nodded her head while her hands were behind her, she replied softly to the man and walked away, heading to the opened room.
"My apology but you're not allowed to enter." One of the charge officers said as he blocked the way, not permitting Scott to pass into. He was wearing a dark blue uniform, but the young lady knows that they're not specializing in this hospital.
"I just wanna take a peek," She replied firmly, her voice deciphering she dislikes it to be hindered.
"Look, kid, it's way risky, you need to get away from here." His companion spoke, there were four of them in the room—the other two were inside while eyeing over the patient.
"Please sir, I just want to visit her." She pleaded, she averted her eyes from the men and glanced at the victim on the clinic mattress. Her gaze was fixed on the patient inside the room, peacefully sleeping with bandages on her left shoulder and head.
"Be careful, let her in, the patient is asleep." The custody officeholder had decided to let her pass into the compartment, they're not letting their guards down. They are still alarmed at whatever may transpire, that is why they keep on glancing at the victim's location.
As Dorothy Scott reached the hospital bed, her heart ached for a moment. She couldn't comprehend why she abruptly felt dreadful and regretful. She was eyeing at the lovely complexion of the resting lady. She halted momentarily and caressed her heart beating rapidly as her sense raced a mile, she couldn't help but have teary visions.
"Why am I feeling this way? Why is she so familiar? Do I know her?"
She gulped many times when she felt the big lumps on her throat when the patient moved, her hands became sweaty all of a sudden as her heart pounds two times faster this time. As a consequence of tension, she stepped backward and observed the sleeping beauty.
She wished to speak up but no phrases would come out of her mouth, her eyes sighted on the bandages, she guessed what had gone on to her when she received those. From what Dorothy saw ahead as they transmitted her to the emergency room, the lady's shoulder was gashed as if it was being stabbed by an intense metallic edge. Moreover, it happened to be inflated and severe, but she chuckled at the thought of feeling the pain, she could say that she's used to I, I can no longer suffer the torturous cuts and bruises anymore.
Dorothy even noticed the small bruises on the patient's skin, more like being scratched and scorched but it's becoming invisible. A shock wrapped her expression when the napping client regained consciousness. She hurriedly walked towards the hospital bed and greeted her sight with a forceful smile.
"Hello," Dorothy welcomed with her eyes widened and almost sputtering, she barely shifted her gaze. Uneasiness swaddled her entire being when the lass glanced at her location.
Her eyes roamed the area until she saw the name tag on the bottom, "Astrid Hawthorne," she whispers.
Scott was about to speak when the patient, Astrid grumbled due to stings, the officials who were with them were forewarned and shortly pulled her.
"Perhaps you better go back to your compartment, kid." He said and tugged her scarcely, she groaned in pain when the man brushed the damage on her wrist.
"Just a minute!" She exclaimed but he didn't listen to her voice.
Hawthorne on the other hand was stunned upon seeing Scott, the suicidal patient is new in her sight but apparently, her presence appears to be usual. "Did we meet before?" She whispers.
She lightly touched her head when she noticed that it had a bandage too. The fact that she smacked her head on the floor after receiving the stabs, it's remarkably unthinkable to witness her survive.
"Wait, what are you doing with her? Let her in," When she spoke, the men who wanted to expel Scott were astounded, they never trusted her as a result of the ongoing investigation gathered at the crime scene, there was no evidence as to whether she was innocent or not. They were only instructed to keep an eye on the patient while she's still in the hospital and to prevent anyone other than the doctors from entering.
The men looked at one another before deciding to release Dorothy, a smile beams on Astrid's edges as she looks at the woman whose face could not be painted due to the pain of her injury.
"Hi, Dorothy." Hawthorne was staring at Scott's name tag.
"You possess a sweet name," Hawthorne complimented, upon hearing how cheerful Hawthorne's voice was, Scott felt the excitement unexpectedly. Her countenance is friendly, the way they entertain one another appears that they would get along.
'I wish to have her as my friend,' Dorothy Scott thought.
"Mind telling me why you got here in my room?" Hawthorne asked, with the same tone of voice—eyes bulging out of her head with a smile that could reach a mile away.
"I saw you ahead when they sent you to the emergency room, uh, I just felt like visiting you, I don't know, my heart just did." Scott softly answered and kept in silence, she was certainly anxious all the time, talking to anyone is troublesome for her, she's not used to it, and having the interest to talk with Hawthorne makes her perplexed.
"Oh, wait. Your wrist is bleeding!" Scott's gazes broadened in horror after hearing Hawthorne's words, she quickly browsed her flaw and flinched in pain after seeing how it bled endlessly.
"Let me change the plaster," She reached out for Dorothy's branch and strived to get up from bedding, withstanding the aches she was grasping.
The custody officers were alarmed. She took the dressing that was displayed on the side furniture which seemed to be timely left by the doctor, the officials' companion was starting to worry because of the bleeding.
"Let's search for a scissor," Hawthorne uttered and began reaching out for the cabinet near her bed, the custody officer opened it for her and a pair of scissors presently greeted their sight.
"What happened? What's with this wound?" She raised a question while concentrating on the plaster she was peeling off from Dorothy's wrist; she would replace it to stop the bleeding.
"I attempted cutting my wrist but unfortunately, I was rushed here." She answered, and disappointment could be felt from her words, which made Astrid chuckle and continue cleansing the wounded wrist. "What do you mean by using, unfortunately?"
"How did you know this?" Dorothy reversed the topic.
"Hmm? I tend to cure myself whenever I am wounded, I am stupid sometimes, so I tripped down easily on my way or I accidentally hit myself. Sometimes, my schoolmates play pranks on me and they would hurt me," Hawthorne asserted and let out a bitter smile.
They started to talk and had a long conversation about the things they mystify about and the things they care about, they never noticed that they are starting to feel comfortable with each other. Dorothy Scott was happy, in a view of the fact that she knew staying in the hospital will never be boring for she's not alone.
