Homepage/Locked In The Snares Of Illusion/
Heartless Esme
The wind blows as it wishes, and the leaves dance along with its flow. Voices echoed on the building's corridor as their feet created a marching sound on the tiled floor, and the Castrill's students began to walk, leading themselves to their restricted classrooms. The gloomy atmosphere of the hallway creates a negative impact on the students' moods. Renesmee Fuentes, standing by their room's doorway as she waits for their class adviser. She sighed and took a glimpse of her watch, "It's already nine o'clock, she's taking so long." She mumbled.
"Hey, Esme…" a lady with blonde hair went inside the classroom and greeted her, as usual, she's wearing her diamond necklace which makes anyone feel envious. Fuentes watched the young lady as she walked inside, heading to the middle row. Her eyes followed her dazzling jewelry.
'Now that looks so beautiful.' She mumbled to herself and yet she averted her gaze from her when she saw the lady throw a glimpse right in her direction.
Trying to cover up the awkwardness inside her, she throws a question to the crowd. "Does anyone know why Mrs. Reyes isn't here yet?" She questioned and the entire class glanced at her location.
"Uh, I passed by at their office and I heard them talking about the previous owner of the West Kaust Museum, Mr. Colson. He passed away last month and the possessor of our school agreed to buy the remaining items. She wants to display all of them at the Science Building." the blonde-haired woman asserted, gazing at her and letting go of her sweet smile.
"So, she's planning to make a museum inside our campus? Isn't that dangerous?" One of the students asked. He's wearing thick glasses and a cold stare would greet your sight upon discerning his complexion. He led his way to the front and faced the populace.
"I see that the owner likes to exhibit the costly entities, which is, in my case, wrong. You probably thought about the stealing incident that occurs in that gallery. Our school will be at risk, once the thief knows about this, then she'll scheme her invasion." The students filled the four corners of the room with their whispers. The man fixed his glasses and faced the woman with her daring figure, standing at the doorway.
"Am I right, Renesmee?" And he flashes an unusual grin. She bit her lower lip as she stopped herself from answering back. Fuentes eventually gritted her teeth in hostility and clenched her fist.
'Asshole.' She muttered.
"How can you say that the thief is a woman? You mentioned that the pronoun is her." One of the classes raised his hand and tossed a question.
"... Don't mind him, he's mistaken," Fuentes responded, and she headed her way back to her seat, in the middle row.
Thoughts were running inside her mind and unable to stop them, she tightly shut down her openings and struggled to calm herself. "Guessing what to do next, huh?" Interrupted by a mocking voice, she lifted her head and glared at the same man who stood in the class.
"What do you know about me? You don't have any evidence to throw an accusation, lock your lips, or else I'll be the one to do it for you." She threatened him yet a simple smirk escaped from his ledges.
"Make me hush," he replied, she felt unreal upon seeing him flashing his enticing wide smile.
'You might look so stunning with your smile but you can't fool a shady one.' She whispered.
As the class hour ended, the crowd of students hastily went out of their room and headed their way to the center of the campus. The warmth they felt along with the muttering, high-priced items greeted their sight as they lifted their head to admire the beauty of the elements. Captured by the fascinating view, they began to enunciate rumors.
"Oh my, these are the expensive exhibits from the museum, why did they bring them here?"
"I don't know either, probably the school administrators decided to display them in our school for some purpose?"
"They should be more careful of those items!"
"I know right, it's quite tempting to have those. Imagine having one of the elements and exchanging it with millions?"
The gossips filled the entire corridor as they watched the objects being delivered to the said building. Fuentes on the other hand decided to stay at the campus to witness the scene. Supposedly, she will be out for brisk chores at her Cafe, yet upon inferring the school's agenda, she assumed to vouch.
"Just as I wanted." A smirk let go from her lips, she felt a delightful sense upon seeing the broad event.
"Hi, Esme. Won't you be working right now? I'm quite thirsty and I hope for a cold coffee." The blonde-haired woman standing beside her, and with a smile on her face, spoke with Fuentes.
"You should come by before going home," she replied, and the lady flipped her blonde sand inch.
"I love how you blend the coffee, you have been my favorite barista, Es." She explained, beginning with the compliment, Renesmee Fuentes felt flattered. Her eyes peek into her diamond chain, and she gulped.
"Thanks, Bella."
"So are you going now?" The lady asked and let out a chuckle.
"Sure am. Wait for me, I'll get on in the comfort room first." Her companion replied with a nod and she steered her way towards the second floor of the building, at the conclusive room.
As she walked along the aisle, she blew a whistle and hum and sang. The murky corners of the hallway shove her to develop a noise. Yet whilst her feet wander, she heard secondary footsteps which made her halt momentarily.
Thoroughly sensing what's behind her, she took a deep breath and resumed stepping onto the tiled floor. The moment she arrived in front of the comfort room, she roughly entered the area and headed her way in front of a huge mirror. She let out a sigh and stared at her reflection, hoping to uncover what's behind her calm complexion. She placed her pouch and turned on the faucet and washed her hands with pure water.
She felt the urge within her to rip off the diamond chain from the woman's neck. "What's with me?" She whimpered and gazed at herself on the reflector, frustrated seeing that she's effortlessly invaded by grandiloquent objects yet the vigor to steal has already been there inside her sleeves.
"You must have been bothered," her lips parted upon hearing a familiar smoky voice. For the last time, she sighs. Hesitating to turn around, she once more clenched her fist, and finally got the bravery to glare at him.
"Why did you follow me here?" She retorted, and he smiled.
"You are always a mystery to me, Renesmee." He uttered which made her step behind, she shot a glare at him, and the impulse to stab him is quite arising.
"What do you exactly want, Finn?"
"I don't really know. Perhaps, I want you." She froze as she watched him walk towards her. A chuckle escaped from his lips, he cornered her into the wall beside the cubicles and he smelled her hair. "What a sweet delicate odor." The lad remarked and caressed her arm, as he let his hands travel down her hips.
"I recently knew something about you, yet it felt so lacking. Why are you hiding behind that mask?" He uttered with his smoky voice in a low tone. Thrill began to arise in her covering as he dared to bend on closer.
"Shut your mouth up or I'll simply do it myself." She warned but he grinned.
"Make me," he teasingly replied and leaned closer to her, smelling her neck, sensing her fragrance.
"Stop what you're thinking, Finn!" The lass exclaimed as she attempted to push him but he held her arm and pulled her closer to his chest, making her eyes widen out of surprise. He fixed his glasses and flashed a grin.
"Don't you see I'm trying?" He retorted and gazed at her, as their sight met, she couldn't enunciate any words when she saw how his irises grew even grimy as usual.
"Having you around really makes me motivated, you see… I've been trying to hold back these unusual feelings yet whenever I see you, it pushes me to desire more of you." He asserted and let out a sigh, her knees trembling as her heart pounds so quickly.
"Stop fooling around, asshole! I don't even like you!" Fuentes yelled and barely pushed him away from her, she attempted to grab her pouch to hold off her compact pointed cutter yet he's way quicker to hamper her hands.
"Yelled at me again and I'll give you a real reason to scream." He warned and gazed at her cerulean irises. She shut her mouth for a moment, trying to figure out how to stop him from his obsession without appearing to be the bad fella. He cupped her fragile face and tucked her hair into her ear, admiring how stunning she looked.
"If only I could have you, I'll never waste such beauty, Renesmee." He whispered, "Please be mine," he added yet once again, she strode back, avoiding him.
"Back off if you don't want to get hurt," she warned.
"You can't hurt me." And he took a step closer.
"I said, back off."
"I know your deepest secret, Renesmee. You are hired to steal, earning much money by simply obeying. You robbed fancy items, and you used the cash to build a Cafe for yourself. I see that you're enjoying the amount you received from doing a bad habit." He retorted, touching her hair—making her uncomfortable. She felt a sharp edge pierce down her chest as if it suffocated her. She couldn't move, her eyes were rounded and she remained to gaze at him.
"I can reveal the truth whenever I want so the multitude would know." He threatened the young lady, "Unless you surrender yourself and be mine…" he added, yet he paused from talking when she grabbed his collar and darted him into her.
He froze on his location and momentarily stopped breathing when her lips harshly dashed into his. Shock filled his countenance. Renesmee Fuentes on the other hand closes her eyes as she senses the emotions she felt. "I told you that I'd shut your mouth the moment you mention those. Never ever make a commotion and include my name, Finn. You don't know how harmful I can be." As she departed from him, he was left dumbfounded.
"... You might find yourself bathing on your own blood, lifeless." She added, and before she could even come out of the comfort room, she took her things and left him.
He remained there and twitched his lips, recalling what happened.
"She kissed me," he whispered, and smirk.
"... Es!" Shocked could be seen on her complexion the moment she encountered her companion, Bella. Both of them with the same expression, Fuentes' sight darkened upon perceiving that she's eavesdropping behind the plain wall.
"What took you so long?" The lady asked, trying to pretend she didn't hear anything. She let out a sheepish smile and attempted to hold her hand, yet she gazed at her irises as if she despised her well-being.
"Uh, are you okay? Can we go downstairs and head out of the campus? It's almost six o'clock, perhaps the school guard locked us here." The lady walks ahead of her, she sighs as she lightly shrugs her shoulders. Unable to focus on the way, she's shifting her glances everywhere and secretly takes a grip on her diamond chain.
"... Can I ask where you bought your necklace?" Renesmee Fuentes questioned, and she halted from walking.
Bella hesitated. She felt the chills down her spine the moment her pal spoke. "My mother gave this to me, it's very valuable for her that's why I'm keeping it safe as possible." She stuttered, unable to take a hold of her wobbling knees.
"Can I have a look?" She could sense danger yet she remained still in her position before even turning back to see the figure of the lass.
"Actually, it isn't pretty at all." Hesitant about her reaction and response, she gulped multiple times—being convicted to get away from the gloomy aura of her companion.
Finn, the guy who carelessly threatened Renesmee had decided to get out and go home yet upon witnessing the two ladies standing in the way, he chose to step behind and hide among the leafy plants afar off their location.
"They're lovely, I see that you can't appreciate such beauty of a diamond." her cerulean green irises had the chance to travel their way on every inch of the chain necklace, appreciating its fascinating dazzling gleam. Her hands lift to have a touch, and the lass felt the fear when a hand barely soothes her skin.
"... Can I take a clear view of it?"
"Uh, okay," a forced smile beams on her edges when she witnessed how threatening grin forms on the lady's expression.
"I'd love to have this," Fuentes asserted, and in a blink of an eye, her hands surged into her pouch and grab the cutter.
"Menace…" the man from afar whispered as he glimpse of the occurrence. His heart won't stop whipping beyond its natural beat. His sweat, dripping all over his face as his hands began to shiver.
Pricking the raw edges into her neck, Renesmee takes hold of the greasy chain and clasps it from her. "—What?" Her eyes rounded as a red fluid escaped from her covering—gushing out in red river. An outcry of suffering echoed in the hallway as she struggled to get away, yet unfortunately, she crumpled on the floor lifeless.
"I might as well take care of this…" Fuentes muttered before consenting a smile to be shaped on her edges. Heaving due to what transpired, she steps aback and throws a glimpse at his location.
"Do me a favor…" she retorted.
"I won't do to you what I exactly did to her if you would help me dissolve her body," She requested and put the necklace in her pocket.
"You're a careless thief."
"No, I'm not careless and this is what I am… it won't change, Finn. I kill to steal."
"You wouldn't be in this bad of shape if you just knew when to quit." He asserted and glared in her direction. "You're the badass woman I ever knew," he added and hopelessly stood before her.
She paused momentarily and recalled what he spoke. "Perhaps what I mostly need is time. Time to figure out who I am, who I want to be, and where I want to go." She muttered and sighs. Download Novelah App
