Stolen Kisses

Twilight is approaching and the two hired killers were sitting comfortably on the sofa as they waited for their master to let go of his final word. The cool wind dashes onto the deep curtains which framed the windows and drops of mist from the outside gradually had their nice rhythm as it fell through the roof. Both of them remained quiet as if they didn't know each other.
On their moment of waiting, a woman from their team walks about the living room and pauses momentarily as soon as she beholds the two people. She glanced at them and greeted them, saying, "Have a good night, mates." Maxwell Ross lightly nodded as his response while Kendall Von stared back at the lady.
"What time is it?" Kendall spoke and leaned her back on the couch, she felt exhausted already. She never expected to have time with Ross seeing that their schedule for their task would be done the other week.
"You should buy another watch," she heard Maxwell retort and she rolled her eyes due to annoyance.
'What a tiresome night, what are we even going to do?' she thought.
Kendall recognizes the woman in the kitchen, pouring out some drink. She finds herself thirsty, and so she decides to stand up from her seat and let her feet lead her to the area. "Hey," she greeted the lady, which caused her to choke on the drink.
Her eyes widened as she gaze at her mate, "Kendall," she muttered and made way for the lady to reach the fridge.
"What's up? Have you checked your schedules for this week? I seldom see you here, you are quite busy with your tasks, huh?" She stated and the woman suddenly felt the tension upon hearing her voice.
"... I was on my vacation, actually. But yes, I already surveyed my schedules. I'll be doing my assignments tomorrow, thanks for your concern," the lady retorted and forced a smile.
"Mara," a shivering cold travels down her spine when Kendall calls her name.
'Why is she approaching me? Damn, her presence is scary!' the woman thought and stepped back. Her knees barely tremble and she often shifts her gaze to avoid eye contact.
"What is it, Kendall?" she almost stutters.
"I discerned that you are hiding something, do you have any plans of betraying us?" With piercing stares, she threw a question to the young lady and Mara felt uneasy.
"What are you saying?"
"You're afraid, am I right? Your movements say it all," Kendall sarcastically asserted and smirked at her, Mara gritted her teeth in disagreement as her heart began to beat rapidly out of the tension she felt.
'I'm doomed, there's no way this is happening… I think sooner or later I'll be meeting my death,' she bitterly thought and it suffocates her mind.
"... I am not hiding anything," she responded and attempted to sound firm yet Kendall eventually let out a chuckle.
Lucas Patterson arrived at the living room with sheets in his grip, she finally got out of the kitchen area and left the poor lady anxious about her thoughts. "What is this all about, Dad?" She questioned the time she reached the two men.
"I will be assigning you to spy the underground battle this midnight," Lucas ordered and positioned himself to snuggle on the couch. He gazed at his men and smirked. "I want you to kill Fuentes," he added.
Maxwell Ross nodded his head and asked for the sheets, "What are these?" He flipped the pages of it and saw the profile of their prey.
"Is this the woman whom you had dealt with the stolen items?" Ross spoke and placed the papers on the furniture located in their center.
"Certainly,"
"Why do you want her dead?" Kendall interrupted, she took the sheets and scanned them for herself. Upon beholding the features of the lady, she felt the familiarity.
"I know that she will soon kill Rutledge, she has been an obedient weapon yet so bad that I must end her life tonight," Lucas stated.
"She is a member of a certain organization which runs this underground battle?" Maxwell announced.
"But why would she kill Hase? What is the reason behind all of this?" Kendall asked, curiosity hit her differently and she perceived that the woman had done nothing wrong.
"Rutledge clan is one of those who dominated the country when a war occurred," bitterness could be heard from his voice as if he never liked the idea. "They assassinated numerous households, and one of them is the Fuentes. I know she longs for revenge and once she finds out about this, she'll end the life of Rutledge's heir, Hase."
With their ears, they clearly heard of it. Maxwell rose from crouching and he brushed his hair and permitted himself to sigh deeply. "We will take care of it, sir."
"As expected, Ross. I already prepared your outfits, you shall be pretending to attend the play…"
As soon as Lucas left, they went on to prepare themselves. Yet before Kendall could even step upstairs, she took a glance of the woman hiding in the kitchen, eavesdropping on their discussion. "This traitor will taste her blood sooner," she whispered and proceeded to walk.
Meanwhile, Renesmee Fuentes sensed the cold water of her bathtub. It is evening, almost midnight and she is now bracing herself for the said event. "I wonder who are the newcomers, or even the participants of the battle?" She muttered and took a liquid soap and gently poured it on her palm to brush it onto her soft skin.
"I must get ready now, the crew must have been waiting for me."
As she rinsed herself, her phone suddenly vibrated it followed by a noise of a ring. "A call in the middle of the night? I doubt so," she reached for her phone and pressed the answer button.
"Yes?"
"Esme," upon hearing the voice from the other line, her brows met as she strove to focus on it.
"Who is this?" She began to feel the danger.
"It's me, Mara… I have something to tell you, and it's very important."
'What the, what's with the sudden call? What's going on?' she thought.
"What is it? Spill the tea, are you in trouble?" She tried to calm herself yet as she listened to how the voice from the other line sounded to be shaking, she could not help but feel anxious.
"I know who killed your family," her chest began to throb out of its normal beating and she took on to feel her body cold.
"Where are you?" Renesmee questioned with her eyes widened, her chest aches when memories flashed in her mind.
"You need to be extra careful, Esme! The men who sought for your life will attend the event,"
"Mara, we need to talk, where are you?" discomfort collided in her mind and all she could possibly think was to know who was behind the death of her family.
"Let's meet there,"
The call ended and she hastened her way to get out of the bath, her naked figure traipsed on the room and she took her clothes on. She then gritted her teeth in resentment as she clenched her fist, "There's no way I'm letting this slip," in just a blink of an eye she went out of her home and rode his big bike.
"What do you think, Ross?" Kendall plainly poised in front of a mirror as her partner watches from behind. She bit her lower lip and anxiously stared at her reflection.
"You look sexy," he complimented and gulped upon witnessing her daring body as it was covered with a black dress with a silvery design which fits her nice figure. She paired it with a platform hill and she let her hair tied in a bun, she appears to be ravishing.
"Can I even freely move on to this kind of outfit? I doubt my hills," she retorted and examined her attire. Once more, she unconsciously bit her lip which caused Maxwell Ross to cuss in his head.
"If you bite your lip one more time, I'm going to do it for you," he said, which made the lady glare at him.
"I hate you," she hissed and held the hem of her dress. "Should I change my clothing? I guess I'll stumble with this type of outfit," Kendall complained.
"I'm here so you'll do good with it," Maxwell Ross asserted and fixed his bowtie as he smirked on his reflection. His black tuxedo suits him best for it reveals his attractive figure.
"Let us keep going," Kendall replied and her feet were about to walk yet she felt surprised the moment Maxwell gently grabbed her arm and pulled her back on his chest.
His lips purposely darted into hers, and he smirked between their smack kisses. "Damn you!" Kendall recklessly stepped back and hissed at him, yet the man only responded with a wide grin.
"I can't waste this moment, Kendall." The lady throws a glare at his direction as she roughly steps on the ground and leaves.
The two of them proceeded to the event and as they arrived there they beheld a huge door and there were eight men standing side by side, guarding the entrance. They handed their ID's and their invitation card and they let them in. As soon as they reached inside, they witnessed different faces from several organizations.
"Have you tried to attend such an affair?" Kendall spoke, with her chin up she clunlikehcoupleinto her partner to act as couples. They led their way to the game section and they took businessmen familiar faces—rich business men having their seats as they gamble.
Maxwell glanced at her countenance and he chuckled, "Will you at least smile? This affair is exciting."
"Oh please, Ross. I am still annoyed with how you stole a kiss from me, well I can't let my night be ruined."
"Have a seat, my lady," he teasingly said when they selected a table. They remained there, watchful and their stares were wandering around the area, seeking for their target, Renesmee Fuentes.
Maxwell received a call, he took out his phone, and upon figuring out that it is one of his team, he answered it. "Excuse me for a moment,"
"Dude," confusion coated his complexion the moment he heard the voice from the other line.
"Hase? What's with the sudden call?" He tried to lower his voice as possible and behaved formally.
"I just got home from a fun yet thrilling vacation. Turner told me that you are with Kendall and both of you are attending an underground event?"
'Damn this guy,'
"Well, you are right, why? We are up to something, whatever you wish to say, spare it for later." He let his finger travel across the screen to end the call yet he paused after hearing Hase Rutledge from the other line.
"I'm coming there, wait for me!"
He is about to stop him but unfortunately, Kendall called his name and the call soon ended. "Who was it?" The lady asked and her expression shifted when she saw his aura darkened.
"It's Hase, he told me he is coming after us,"
"What the? Call him again!"
"He is out of reach, damn." Turmoil filled their thoughts and they felt the abrupt tension. Kendall began to overthink while Maxwell tried to calm himself.
'We can't fail this task,' they thought.
"I thought he was spending his time at the resort?" Kendall opened up and drank from her glass of water.
"He told me that he just got home, your brother is really careless, it would surprise him once he arrived here." He pinched the bridge of his nose and thought of another way to stop Rutledge. "He'll meet his death once he gets here, shall I start to wish that he'll get into an accident while driving?"
"That won't solve anything, dumbass!" The woman hissed and breathed heavily. Yet she paused when he let his lips touch hers, "Let's focus on our mission, Fuentes won't recognize him, I assure you that she hasn't known the truth behind the killing yet."
Meanwhile, Mara puts on her mask to prevent everyone from conflict knowing it is risky yet she believes that she is fated to betray the organization where she belongs. She chose to wear a white cocktail dress so it will be easy for her to move. She expects this night to be bloody.
She confidently waited for anyone to cross over the bridge as of those who waited for their prey. She needs to enter the gates and witness the affair, the only way for her to do it is to get an invitation card from those VIP groups.
"I can't wait to see the players for tonight!"
She patiently waited at the corner for the two ladies to pass by, "I know, I wonder who's going to win? I heard that they are betting on their properties." Later on, as they cross the line of the bridge, Mara takes a hold of the dagger on her grip and plans to attack the two people, le.
"This has to succeed," she whispered, and right as she saw the two ladies before her sight, she forcefully raised her leg and kicked the other woman right on her jaw. Before the other girl screamed in horror, she punched her on the nose and strangled her.
She hastened to pull their body toward the bushes and before the other woman got up to escape, she mercilessly stabbed her face with a dagger. She did the same thing to the sleeping beauty she knocked out.
Mara successfully took their purse and checked for the invitation card, she quickly ran out of the place and went forward to the entrance. She took her makeup and had a little retouch. She confidently gave the invitation card to the guards and finally reached inside.
She smiled, "Nice."
