Aiden stared at her with wide eyes.
“What did you just say?" He asked slowly. Emily frowned at him.
“Don't pretend like you didn't hear me Aiden, this is serious. They already brought the document and everything" Aiden scoffed.
“I want none of it, give it to someone who does" Aiden tried to walk past her but she held his arm.
“Just think about it, I won't force you to do what you don't want but just think about it" Emily said softly. Aiden sighed but nodded. He excused himself then Left.
Aiden tossed and turned on his bed, he couldn't seem to find a comfortable spot. He groaned.
“I need warm milk" He stood up with a stretch and walked out of the room. The hallway was dark because everyone was probably asleep. He halted when he noticed the lights in the kitchen were on. He narrowed his eyes and walked straight into it.
“Rose?" He stared at her with confusion. She abruptly turned to him.
“What are you doing here?" She sighed.
“I couldn't sleep," she murmured. He ran his hand through his hair before sitting down next to her.
“Me neither" He muttered. She turned to him like she wanted to say something but decided not to and turned her face away. Aiden noticed.
“Is there something you want to say?" He asked gently. She hesitantly turned towards him.
“I don't want you to think I was eavesdropping but you guys were talking really loud so I kinda heard everything" She said hurriedly. He raised an eyebrow at her before flashing her a smile.
“It's alright" She turned to look at him but found him staring at her. She averted her eyes away from him and used her hair to cover her face so as to hide her blush. Aiden chuckled beside her.
“Is there something you want to ask me?" She nodded “Okay, let me hear it" She raised her head up.
“You can't sleep because of what you and your mom talked about right?"Aiden stared at her for a while before nodding.
“How would you feel when you suddenly found out that your father, whom you haven't seen for the last 18 years want to give you his multi_ billionaire company?" Aiden said with a sigh. Silence passed through them.
“My Uncle he...." She paused mid sentence and pursed her lips.
“Do you want to say something?" He asked softly. She looked at him but quickly averted her eyes and bit her lips harshly. Aiden moved closer to her and used it's thumb to release her lips from in between her lips. She stared up at him with hesitation.
“You can tell me, I won't tell anyone. We are friends now right?" She nodded slowly at him and he smiled then waited patiently for her to speak. She sucked in her breath before exhaling and looking back at him.
“When my mother died I was left in the care of my uncle. I thought Liam and I were going to live a great life afterwards but that didn't happen" her face turned gloomy “Anyway, my fath....my sperm donor left his money and businesses in my name too but my aunt and uncle only took us in to get all my inheritance transferred to them. I don't know if they succeeded or not and honestly I don't care, I don't want anything to do with that man" She said intently. Aiden nodded and patted her head. She turned to stare at him.
“I'm glad you feel comfortable enough to share things like this with me" She nodded at him.
“I don't know why but I just wanted to let you know you are not the only one that has gone through this and unlike mine, yours can't be taken away from you and besides you said you would help me" She sighed softly.
“So what do you suggest I do?" She turned to stare at him.
“Me?" He nodded. Rose thought for a second.
“When...when me and Liam had to.." She paused. Aiden raised his hand to caress her head. She exhaled.
“when we had to live on the streets and fend for ourselves...I always found myself regretting not fighting for my inheritance" She said softly. Silence passed between them.
“You are looking at me with pity, aren't you?" She said after a while.
“Look at me" he said and she instantly did. He smiled warmly at her.
“You don't have to be ashamed of your past because that's what makes you, you" He murmured softly. Without warning, he reached out and hugged her tightly. She froze with her mouth a gap.
“From now on, I want you to share your story with me" He said softly. A blush crept up her face with his words and how close they were. She abruptly pushed him and stood up.
“Uhmm..... I'm really sleepy now, I've got to go" She lowered her head so he wouldn't see her blush and ran away before he could say anything. He smiled at her running figure.
Rose closed the door of the room softly so as not to wake up Liam and rested her back on it. She took deep breaths before walking in front of the mirror on the dresser. She stared at her flushed cheeks in the mirror with disdain.
“No no no no, I can't like him" she chanted in her head before groaning. Then her eyes roamed her body through the mirror, she frowned.
“I bet he's not even attracted to me" She whispered with a sigh.
