I didn't know that the old Mr Mario Alfonso has such a talkative eighteen year old daughter until this morning. The maid earlier came and escorted me to have breakfast with the whole Italian family, and that's how I met with Paulina.
The Alfonso family consists of the old Mr Mario Alfonso himself, who I learned that he has lost his Korean wife about six years ago. They're a lot similar to the Dante's whose head of the family is also Italian, but the late wife was Korean.
The three legal children of the Alfonsos from eldest to youngest are; Sergio Alfonso, Carlo Alfonso and Paulina Alfonso who happens to be my latest nightmare.
Then there's the adopted son of the house, Haru who they all call the Consigliere, just like what I've heard in Vincenzo, turns out the Consigliere is a real thing. Mind you, it's not 'corn salad', it's 'Consigliere', seriously.
I think the Consigliere is a very respectable position in the Mafia household judging from the way everyone seems to respect Haru a lot. He is the only one who looks like a full Korean, the rest of them all have faces of half Koreans, half foreigners.
I don't trust Sergio, but somehow, I feel like I can trust and rely on Haru since he has helped me before and he doesn't look like a bad person in my eyes. At least from what I've seen.
As for Paulina, well, I'm yet to feel comfortable with having her in front of me. The young lady is currently showing me her makeup brand and the perfumes she produces under her new company: SparkleBeauty. She's been talking about it over and over for the past half an hour without a stop even though by now, I expect her to notice that I'm not interested in what she's been narrating to me.
". . . and this is the concealer, just take a look at the container." The girl continues, "I chose the container sample by myself last month before the production, but Carlo said the blue one will have been better. He doesn't have good eyes, just take a look at this, isn't it so perfect and beautiful?"
"It is." I mumble a reply but mentally, I'm groaning.
"By the way, Hana can I ask you a question?"
"Of course you can."
"Are you my brother's new girlfriend?"
"Who among your brothers?"
"Sergio."
"No way. Why do you think so?"
"It's just because I thought you were his new girlfriend when he brought you into this room unconscious. He treated your wound by himself and even changed your clothes."
"Excuse me? . . . What did you say again? Sergio changed my clothes by himself?" My eyes go wide open in shock. Impossible!
Ohmo! I dread her reply.
But Paulina replies with "Yes," laughing at my reaction. "Before you start freaking out, let me tell you that he's a medical doctor. He is used to operating on naked pregnant women so please don't think of it as something else."
I'm silent. I don't know what to say. Aigoo, so that Sergio has seen everything on my body!
Gosh, I hate Federico for knocking me out in the first place. It's all his fault for bringing me here unconscious, I wouldn't have allowed Sergio or anyone else to remove my clothes and change them. What if he had done something to me while I was in my situation?
So many ridiculous thoughts are currently floating in my head.
"You have been staying in this room since you came here. Don't you feel bored?" Paulina ask, her curious blue eyes looking up at me. "I have a place to go if you want to come with me."
"No I don't think I'm allowed to go out. Your brother will scold you if you take me out."
"I'm used to his scolding. Do you want to come with me or not?" She's pouting her mouth like a spoilt Mafia kid.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
She giggles, "It's a nice club you're going to like."
"I have never been to one in the first place." I tell her in all honesty.
Paulina looks amused, "Really? Then where have you even been to? You are nineteen but never been to a club before?"
I shake my head, "no."
"Well, I have a dress that will look perfect on you. Follow me to my room."
I smile, "okay." I'm going to follow Paulina not because I want to go to a club but because it will be my perfect opportunity to escape. That is, as soon as I get to make it out of this place.
I have a suspicion that Sergio will not allow me to go out without answering his question about the codice segreto. He act like he is the boss of the house despite the fact that the head of the family is yet to die.
Not that I wish Paulina's father will die, but you know, I heard it somewhere that he who live by the sword will die by the sword. Likewise, he who live by the guns will also die by the guns. And the Mafia live by the guns, imagine everything that can happen to your life when all you do is to kill people and involve yourself in illegal activities. Even their riches smell of thousand illegal things.
When we arrive to Paulina's room, her second brother, Carlo is inside, as if he's been waiting for her. Carlo looks a lot like Paulina, but unfortunately, Sergio is more good looking even though I have a feeling he's the bad one among them.
"Pau, give me back my Atm card." Carlo tells his sister, sternly. "I told you not to spend a lot but you still spent more than a million won at once."
I gulp as I hear that big amount of money. I'm suddenly reminded of the money I owe Haru. I didn't even use all of it, I saved it under my bed back there at the Dante Estate, I hope nobody will take it.
"Just one last outing, eoh?" She puts up a puppy face for him. "I promise I won't spend a lot this time around. Please Oppa?"
That catches my attention.
Oppa?
During breakfast earlier, I heard Sergio warning them to always stick to the culture of speaking Italian when they're at home. I don't think those two siblings listen to their brother so well.
"One last outing. You're returning it back today as soon as you come back. And where are you going this time?"
