It was past twelve in the afternoon and I just got discharged from the hospital. We proceeded to the hospital pharmacy to get the few drugs that was prescribed for me by Doctor Kenny.
After getting the drugs that we went for, we walked to the car park so we can leave. I was okay, rather better now. I was gradually recalling some past events and I felt cool with it. But, I was beginning to feel weird.
I knew something was amiss but I couldn't fathom what it was. Just walking slowly to the car, Jessica saw someone she knew and they stopped to talk. I was not ready to wait for them, because I had no idea what they were discussing, so I went into the car to wait for her.
Luckily for me, she didn't spend a lot of time with the stranger and in no time, she was in the car with me.
"Erm, Sonia, are you okay? U don't like the way your face is looking."
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired I guess."
By this time she had started the car and was allowing it to booth for a while. Then, she drove out of the compound, into the streets.
While driving, I noticed her stare at me frequently, so I adverted my gaze from her direction and looked outside so I won't be uncomfortable.
"Hey, Sonia, are you sure you're okay?
"Yeah, yeah I am. I just told you, I am okay I'm serious."
"Okay then, if you insist. Are you hungry?
"Uhm, I'm not sure. I ate at the hospital before I took my drugs."
"That thing? Is that food? You know I'm talking about FOOD! You know."
"Oh damn it! I forgot you are the food monger. What do you think?
"If you don't mind, I would like to stop by the the eatery on the roadside. I think I saw one when I was driving to the hospital yesterday."
"Okay... I don't mind, let's go."
"Good girl! I think I prefer the amnesia lady to the former one."
"Are you kidding me right now huh? I asked her, quite displeased by her comment.
"Yeah I'm kidding, but I know that what I'm saying is true. The former Sonia will make us argue for a long while before finally giving in to the request or a times, she doesn't at all, that I feel like squashing her face, damn!
"Gosh, Jessica. I didn't know I argued a lot.."
She cut me off immediately, "did you just say you don't know? Oh my goodness, what are you. Okay okay, I wanna assume it's amnesia talking." She said, laughing sarcastically, but tried to hold it back from forthcoming."
"Silly, nonsense crab. By the way, haven't we gotten to the place already? I thought you said it was close to the hospital? From what I am seeing now, it's more then ten minutes drive and I can't fine anything." I said to her, looking through the window to know if I might have missed it, or if it's ahead.
"Ha ha, we will get to it soon, I guess I miscalculated then." Sonia answered.
"Wow, miscalculated. I hope you know where you are driving because it seems you don't know what you are doing again."
"My apologies ma'am amnesia, but I know where I am going, okay."
"Are you sure? I asked facetiously.
"Yeah, I am... Wait, you didn't just do that to me, you just didn't." She said recklessly.
"Well, I did..."
"Right now, I'm not accepting the amnesia lady anymore, I think the.."
"Enough with the amnesia talk girl, are you making fun of me or what? I asked ferociously.
"It hasn't gotten to that okay, please can down, we were only playing, weren't we?
"It better be." Then I spotted one eatery ahead of us, just a little drive ahead. "Hey, I think I just saw one." I said, raising my voice.
"Oh, thank God. Atleast, I can finally have something to eat. I am damn hungry like."
We drove to the eatery and Jessica stopped the car by the side of the building and we went inside to get something to eat.
"Let's pick up some stuff and eat at home, what do you think? I asked innocently.
She gave me a, what are you talking about look, "You know I didn't eat at the hospital, I don't like their food in anyway and you should have asked if I have the strength to drive any further."
"Then I will drive."
"Huh??? Did you just say, drive? Nope, I'm not spending the rest of my day today in the hospital alright."
I had to give up just then, so we went to the counter to order for something to eat. As I perceived the aroma from the food, I realized that I was really famished and my stomach has started to rumble, I could hear it.
I ordered for rice and sauce with chicken and a little soft drink to push it down. Jessica ordered for rice, chucked, salad, juice, vegetable sauce, garnished meat fritters and some diced fruits.
"Jess, do you mean you will finish all of these? I asked, wide eyed and staring at the list of her orders.
She smiled at me and said, well, "you know how I eat, I always have it plenty." She replied.
"You have to take it easy. I always wonder where the food go? Because you are not really fat."
"Atleast, I'm weighty."
The lady who was attending to us looked at her in total surprise. She was short of words and didn't know what to say.
"Ma'am, you mean, you are eating all of these here? The lady who later got the courage to speak asked.
"Well, yeahhhh I am. Do you have a problem with that? Atleast, I'm spending my own money, not yours! Jessica retorted.
"I'm sorry ma'am, my apologies."
"Whatever."
We got a table and sat down to eat. As I scooped a spoon of rice into my mouth, I started seeing some flashes again. I closed my eyes and bit my lips, so I don't scream and disturb those around.
I think Jessica noticed that I wasn't myself so she came to the rescue.
"Sonia, are you okay? You don't like the food? She asked calmly?
"No no not that. I like the food. It's just that, I started seeing some flashes of the past." I answered. "Don't worry, it's just temporal, that's what the doctor said. I will be fine soonest. Eat, go on you know you are hungry." I said to her, then faced my food and started eating.

I ordered a whole lot that the lady attending to me gave me a weird stare when I told her that I wasn't taking it home but eating it right here in the eatery.
She looked at me like she was seeing a ghost or maybe she wasn't seeing at all. I guess she might be asking or wondering the kind of a woman I was. Well, that doesn't bother me one bit, who cares.
I asked her to get everything I ordered for so I can pay my bills. She gave me that funny long stare, then she didn't just stop there, she asked.
"Ma'am, you mean, you are eating all of these here?
At first, I thought I should get angry at her, report her to the manager for harassing me, but on the other thought, I decided to let it slide.
"Well, yeahhhh I am. Do you have a problem with that? Atleast, I'm spending my own money, not yours! I said to her, raising my voice so she wouldn't try it again, but mind her own business.
The lady was shocked by my reaction, then she looked around, then asked me to pardon her.
"I'm sorry ma'am, my apologies." She said to me, pleadingly.
"Whatever."
I took the food to the table, with Sonia and we sat down to enjoy our meal. A spoon of the food inside my mouth told me that the place was good. Whoever cooked it must be good in kitchen. I tried the fritters, the chicken, the salad and they all came out good.
I was about asking Sonia how she found the food to be like, then I noticed that she didn't look good. Was the food not tasteful enought for her, I wondered. I guess I had to find out myself.
"Sonia, are you okay? You don't like the food? I asked her.
She looked at me and nodded that she's fine, then added "No no not that. I like the food. It's just that, I started seeing some flashes of the past." She paused for a while before she continued, "Don't worry, it's just temporal, that's what the doctor said. I will be fine soonest. Eat, go on you know you are hungry."
I knew she wasn't fine, atleast not after she mentioned she having flashes. I guess she hasn't gotten that of her looking for her children, because that will mean hell!
I continued eating, hoping that a miracle happen somehow, anyhow atleast before we leave this place or atleast by the time we get to her house.
