AUSTIN POV
Since the start of our college life, cara has been there to help us all the time. I'll miss her a lot this semester. I know she'll work all day, and I hope she won't stress herself too much because of their problem.
I was already in our room for our first subject for today. I sat at the back and waited for Julia to arrive. This girl is always late nothing changes. Our professor last semester almost dropped her out of the class because she's always late in her class. She always has excuses, unlike cara, who is always early and always prepared for a quiz or any test. These two best friends are opposite, but they get along. I guess the one thing that made us closer is whenever we think about the future. We always visualize our future, and whenever we do that, I get motivated and inspired to do more. We wanted to be successful, and I'm glad to partner with them in this baking business. I hope we can make this big, and speaking of baking. I have to talk to Julia about sending products to influencers and ask them for an unbiased review.
"Julia, when are we going to send products to influencers around the city?" I asked her as she sat beside me.
"How many influencers are we going to send a free product?" she asked.
"At least three? I think it's enough."
"What are we going to bake?" she asked me again.
"Our famous brownies and cookies? what do you think?" I asked.
"I think we should send them different products," she suggested.
"Do you think we have time to bake?" I asked her again.
"I don't know, but maybe cara has time. She could bake at home, and mom can help her."
"Okay, but I'll help her if I have spare time," I said.
"Of course, I'll help her too. I can't let her do all the things. She's also tired from work, so we need teamwork here." she said, "By the way, what's wrong with you the past few days? You acted so weirdly." she said, looking at me and waiting for my answer.
Should I tell her I'm jealous of Colin for trying to befriend Cara or not? Okay, fine. I'll l her so that at least she's aware of my feelings when cara is around.
"I'm jealous," I said. I have to admit I'm shy about admitting this to Julia. She'll make fun of me.
"Pardon?" She said, smirking. I know she heard it and was teasing me right away.
"I know you heard it."
"Oh c'mon! Jealous of who?" she asked. isn't it obvious?
"Don't tell me you're jealous of colin?" she added.
"Isn't it obvious?" I asked.
"You just confirmed that you like cara," she said, smiling at me.
"I do like cara," I admitted. she laughed at what I said.
"I know you like cara. I was waiting for you to admit it. It's obvious. The way you act when she's around. The way you look at her and the way you protect her," she said, "but you know that she likes someone else, right? and colin has been trying to befriend her."
"I know that," I smiled bitterly.
"What now? You're going to give up just like that?"
"I'm afraid to admit my feelings for her. I might ruin our friendship."
"so, what's your plan?"
"Like her from afar?" I asked
She laughed at what I said. "You sound like you are in a romantic movie."
"Don't tease me too much when she's around. okay?"
She nodded.
Our professor arrived and started the class, and as usual, we began by introducing ourselves. Our professor introduced new students also.
This girl named hope was pretty, and she sat in an empty chair beside me since she arrived late. Julia and I being friendly, greeted her.
CARA'S POV
I went to my mom's work beside the school to check on her since I woke up without her. Seeing school again makes me sad, but I just laughed at my situation.
"Mom, how's it going?" I asked her.
"Not bad. Students will have their lunch later, so I'm preparing the rice."
"Okay. Will you be alright here? I'll go to work now."
"Yes. I'll close at 5 pm,"
"Okay."
I was about to leave when I saw Julia, Austin, and Dylan. I acted like I didn't see them and crossed the streets. I don't know why I'm avoiding them, but maybe because I was too shy. I feel sorry for myself. My world suddenly turned upside down.
Why did I let this happen to myself? To my family?
I arrived at the convenience store and started working. I put the brownies at the counter so people could see them when they check out. I was waiting for customers to arrive when Julia's mom came with plastics in his hands.
"Hi, Cara!" she greeted me.
"Good morning," I smiled at her. This woman is too kind and supportive to us. I am grateful for her and her daughter, Julia.
"I baked oatmeal and peanut butter cookies. No one will eat this at home, so I decided to put it here. Don't worry. Add the sales to your savings for Caia Bakes," she smiled.
"Oh - okay. I'll put it here in front. Thank you, you even packed it individually."
"Of course. I'll help you guys as long as I can,"
I remembered my mom. I hope she was supportive as Julia's mom instead of discouraging me.
"By the way, why are you here? You don't have class yet?" she asked. Maybe Julia didn't tell her.
"Oh-" I got a bit uncomfortable, "I didn't enroll this semester," I said.
She was taken aback by what I said. I guess she didn't expect me to say that.
"It's okay. Studying is not a race. You can still go back," Julia's mom cheered me.
A few customers entered the store, so she said goodbye.
"Hi! You're cara, right?" A girl asked me.
"Yes. I am." I smiled at her. She looks younger than me.
"I'm Sarah,"
Sounds familiar. I think I heard the name before, and then carlon entered the store.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"I'm with Sarah," he said and approached Sarah.
"Are you in a relationship?" I asked him.
They were both taken aback by what I said.
"No," Sarah said.
"Soon," Carlon added, smirking at me.
"Sarah just wants to check if you have brownies today," carlon said.
"I still have a lot. How many do you want? Also, I have cookies here. same price."
"Cara, I'll buy one oatmeal cookie. I want to taste it," Carlon said. Even though he's my brother, he still needs to pay, and I don't think he has a problem with that. I know that he knew this was a business.
