chapter eighteen

What?!" she said, laughing. "I thought colin likes you," she added.
"No. Colin said I reminded him of his sister," I said.
Julia gasped, "Omg! I thought you could be together, but I guess it won't." we were laughing together when Austin arrived.
"He's here again," I heard Austin whisper.
I guess Austin isn't interested in colin, so we decided not to tell him what we discovered today.
"How was your day, Austin?" I asked him cheerfully.
"You're so happy today, huh?" he said and rolled his eyes. PMS?
"Oh, no. We have five dozen orders of brownies to deliver on Saturday," Julia said as she checked our websites.
"I messaged you regarding the orders," I reminded her.
"I haven't checked my phone yet," she said, "can both of you bake this on Friday?" she asked.
"Why? Where are you going?" Austin asked.
"We have to report to Miss Hailar on Friday,"
"It's okay, Julia. I can go to your house to bake these orders before I'd go to work."
Austin continues to look at our website as if he's finding something.
"Austin, come with me. let's buy ingredients for Friday." Julia said.
"Why me?" Austin asked.
"Why not?" Julia said.
"What's wrong with you? Stop being so hot-tempered," I told Austin.
"You're so numb," he said as if it was my fault why he's not in the mood.
"Stop it. You're going to hurt each other when you continue to argue," Julia said.
"I'll come with you, Julia. I don't want to be stuck with Cara here," He said. Did I hear it, right? What did I do wrong?
"Then leave. I didn't ask you to be here," I said.
He looked at me as if I disappointed him.
"I didn't do anything wrong to you. I just told you not to be so hot-tempered 'cos it's ruining the vibe," I told Austin.
Austin was never like this to me. I don't know what's wrong with him. I thought he was okay after we talked about the girl he likes, but I guess I was wrong.
The three of them left the shop. Roman and Colin went inside to check on me as I turned my back to them. So they won't see me teary-eyed because of that guy.
"Are you okay?" Colin asked.
"Yeah. Don't worry about me. Continue what you were talking about," I said.
"Maybe something happened that's why he reacted that way to you," Roman said.
"It's not fair."
"Just let him be," Colin said. "How long have been friends?" he asked.
"I met him and Julia when we were in our first year in college," I said. " We annoy each other, but not like this. It seems like I was the cause of his problems."
"I told you before, Cara. It seems like he likes you."
"He likes someone else, not me."
"Are you sure?" Colin asked, smiling at me.
'Yeah. We talked about it, and Austin told me that I didn't know the girl."
"Maybe he doesn't tell you because it was you."
"Is it possible?" I asked, "No, I doubt it. It will never be me. Maybe he's just stressed on something and lashed it out on me, but I'm hurt."
"Maybe he's jealous," Colin said, laughing.
"Why would he?" I asked him.
"Remember when I ask to walk you home. I can tell by Austin's reaction that he was jealous. He glared at me." He laughed, "I know those things because I used to be very jealous of my wife's best friend."
"If he likes me, why can't he confess?" I asked them as if they were love gurus.
"He's afraid," roman said.
"To be rejected?" I asked.
"That's one of the reasons, and also the friendship that you built might be broken,"
"Should I believe you guys?" I said, laughing.
"It's up to you," they laughed.
Julia brought the ingredients to their home. I was arranging the shelves when I remembered I didn't eat yet.
